Best in Slot Ranger Gear

Important Notice: In Phase 2.5 of Ashes of Creation, acquiring gear in general is a lot more difficult than it was in the previous two phases of the alpha. With this in mind, listing and obtaining a full set of legendary gear is just not realistic. The following gear set lists in this guide will be both practical and realistic to work towards. With that said, if you acquire the full sets listed below, then your next step is to upgrade each piece at a time to legendary.

The first table below will be the early priority before all crafting tables are available at journeyman level. The second table will be the long term goal list once crafting stations are available in nodes.

Gear Quality and The Cost of Gear

You will notice that in these two gear sets listed above, everthing is listed at rare and/or heroic quality, except for the melee and ranged weapons of the Journeyman list. The reasoning for this is due to how scarce and expensive legendary items are in Phase 2.5. A single legendary piece of gear will cost you several hundred gold just for a single item, making a full gearset of legendary gear highly unreasonable. Once you have your full gearset your highest priority is working towards obtaining materials needed for your legendary The Hawk Bow and Bloomthorn Blades.

With Phase 2.5 now being on a single server for the entire playerbase, obtaining raw materials, and locking down named mobs for gear is a lot more difficult than it was in Phase 1 and 2. Therefore, expecting a full gearset of legendary is simply just unrealistic and you should focus more time on rare/heroic versions of gear and prioritize your gold on legendary weapons to maximize your time and gold.

Ranger Stat Priority

Stat Priroity is no longer as simple as stacking Physical Power, or Physical Crit, as most stats are now heavily affected by diminishing returns in Phase 2.5. Generally you will want to prioritize a higher physical critical chance over physical power rating, as the diminishing returns on physical critical chance is not as punishing as physical power rating. Attack speed is also now a very good stat as it is barely affected by diminishing returns. Strength and Dexterity are still "good" for rangers, but it will no longer be your main priority when looking at gear. Both are still good stats, and equal in priority, as is Constitution, but you will not prioritize these stats as your main decision maker on upgrades.

When choosing your gear, your stat priority is not a simple list to follow. The priority below will give you a rough guideline to follow:

  1. Physical Power Rating – This is your first priority until diminishing returns take affect.
  2. Physical Critical Chance Rating – Physical Critical Chance Rating can be inchangeable with Physical Power Rating, as it is not affected as bad by diminishing returns. While gearing up, sacrficing a small portion of your Physical Power Rating for Physical Critical Chance Rating will net you a positive dps increase.
  3. Physical Critical Power – Physical Critical Power is straightforward, more is always better and will increase your critical hits.
  4. Physical Attack Speed – Following Physical Power, and Physical Crit, you will want to focus on Physical Attack Speed. This stat became much more viable in Phase 2.5 due to the fact that it is only very slightly affected by diminishing returns compared to Power and Crit.
  5. Strength – Each point gives you 3 Physical Power Rating, 2 Physical Critical Power Rating, 2 Physical Accuracy Rating, 1 Physical Block Mitigation Rating, and 1 Physical Disable Duration.
  6. Dexterity – Each point gives you 2 Physical Critical Chance Rating, 2 Physical Attack Speed Rating, 2 Physical Penetration Rating, 2 Physical Evasion Rating, and 1 Physical Disable Accuracy.
