Entry lvl Mythic Rogue Qs

Recommended Posts

So as my raid starts to progress into mythic (Strength in All @ Stormrage) and I don't have any other rogues on the team to talk to, I want to compare and contrast rotations/openers.  I've been pulling top 5 dps so I know I'm doing something right (69-80k DPS (W/ 726 Ilvl) depending on fight mechanics)(Also keeping near 100% uptimes on rupture and S&D)

http://us.battle.net...öngers/advanced

Opener: Prep @ -10 sec, Pot + Slice&Dice ~1.5 sec, Shadow Reflect > Ring & Vanish > Rupture > Ambush until Subterfuge is done ( usually burn some CPs for an extra ambush)

Rotation after opener: dump CPs, pool energy until Find Weakness (FW) is nearly down, Shadow dance, Ambushes, wait for FW to go down, Vanish / Shadowmeld + Prep + Ambush (If vanish is 10+ seconds on CD)

Rinse and repeat.

So my main question here is it better to pair Shadow Reflection with ring or with Shadowmeld(EDIT: ShadowDance), I've experimented with both and they pull similar numbers.

I'm no pro raider, but I believe it's better if you pair up everything, including Shadow Dance. It's your main burst, why would you not use it together with your other two main CDs?

http://www.wowhead.com/itemset=1256/felblade-armorbecause of the reset on Vanish, Shadow Dance gens a lot of Combo Points for the cd reduction, and you dont stack vanish and shadow dance b/c they serve the same purpose of amping dmg by applying Find Weakness (which allows you to bypass 100% of the boss's armor)

Stacking leads to a direct loss of uptime on the debuff which in turn is a dps loss

Vanish works for an additional purpose of amplificating damage by itself due to T18 2PC. If you're pairing with your heaviest hitting skill (Ambush, due to trinket), you'll have a better DPS than just pushing Find Weakness duration. Even more, you'll have Vanish on a very short cooldown due to the amount of finishers you'll be dumping.

From what I've seen (and I'm doing accordingly, even if I don't have 4PC yet) goes like this:

Prem 12s > Snd + Pre Pot > Vanish + SR > Rupture > SD + Ring > Ambush up to ~7CP + Evisc > Rupture if down > SnD if down > Prep > Vanish > rinse and repeat, with some minor variations due to RNG and lag.

Perhaps Carrn can give you a better insight, since you two are in similar levels.

Edit for typos.

Using Vanish before the pull allows you to get off your entire Shadow Dance with the bonus damage. Stacking all of your cooldowns into Soul Capacitor will show you much better results.

Pull -12s: Premed
Pull -2s: SnD

Pull -1s: Prepot + Vanish

SR > Rupture + Ring > SD > Ambush/Evis rotation

Rupture is applied with the 5 combo points from Vanish, and your SR clone will copy it.

Ring should be popped after your clone is out so it benefits from the damage as well. At some point around 3s left in your Shadow Dance you'll run out of energy for another Ambush - spend that gcd on Preparation to reset the cd on Vanish, then finish your Dance with Ambush. Assuming you use your second Vanish (after the Prep reset) properly, your second Vanish will let you have even more damage available to you going into your Ring detonation.

Make sure to watch and check that Soul Capacitor isn't up when your Ring is about to go off, or it will absorb all the damage and do nothing. For this reason you should have a /cancelaura Spirit Shift macro

The benefit of stacking is to do a metric asston of damage at once, because everything is multiplied together. You don't do a lot of damage outside of your cooldowns, so there's little to no benefit in keeping up Find Weakness any longer than your cooldowns are up for. That said, you should delay Vanish by up to 6s if SD will come off cooldown in that time, and up to 12s if SD and SR will both be available.

Alright, ill try the SD, Vanish stack, but dont you want to pop SR before Vanish? so it also gets the dmg buffs, not sure if there is an issue where the shadow does not get the tier dmg boost.

The clone doesn't get the tier damage boost because it doesn't have any tier pieces lol. It gains the bonus damage from the Ring because the Ring applies an aura to every ally in the area, and it's an ally unit

Thought I'd check, there are quite a few weird interactions in wow, btw raided last night and stacking the SD and Vanish leads to about the same dps except in larger chunks, which is much more preferable for some mechanics. Thanks for the help :D

(The above image is not the official mount, just a potentially similar model we found.)
Update: we have official confirmation and a blue posts on the poll end. Unfortunately no mention on the fate of the other 4 contestants just yet.
      Poll Closing (source)
Thanks to the hundreds of thousands of players around the world who voted in polls over the last two weeks, we now know which of the proposed mounts you most want to ride in 2021. The winner is:
      The Wandering Ancient
A large and leafy mount, the Wandering Ancient invites you to climb aboard and grab ahold of its branches as you embark on a lumbering expedition. Our designers will now work on bringing this mount to life, so that all players who purchase Shadowlands will receive it.
And again, thank you for voting!
      _____________________________________
The polls are closed and the Wandering Ancient has won, as expected, in both the US, EU and China regions! The rest of the pack are also at the same % levels as previously posted in this thread, with another 5,000 players having voted since we checked earlier today. We're definitely getting a big walking tree as the mount, but hopefully we'll also get some of the others through some other means as well!
We also have the poll results for China, where the Ancient got to 42%:

Over 250,000 people have voted in the US and EU alone, with the world-wide total being much higher. And, as we've mentioned before, 2nd and 3rd places will probably also matter, as Blizzard will almost certainly make more than just the winner.

It's great to see that many people voting, especially in the last day, as it shows how passionate the WoW community can be. You can also see that in the fan art, which you can check out here, and even some potential similar in-game models here.

A small change is coming to Cobra Shot in the upcoming Shadowlands Beta build.
Cobra Shot will cost 35 Focus in the next build (down from 45 Focus) with the live Rank 2 baked into it.
      (Source)
Literally people were asking just to add rank 2 back in from live so the focus cost went back and the spec had some possibility of not feeling terrible at some point this expansion.
Somewhere along the lines, the old rank 2 of Cobra Shot (-10 Focus Cost) was lost. In the next build, Cobra Shot should just be 35 Focus cost baseline.

The very popular Shadowlands free mount poll is ending in just a few hours (10PM CEST, 3PM PDT), and we're taking one final look at the numbers and the changes since yesterday to see if we can get even more people to push their favorites! It's also really impressive that over 250,000 people have voted in the US and EU alone, with the world-wide total being much higher. And, as we've mentioned before, 2nd and 3rd places will probably also matter, as Blizzard will almost certainly make more than just the winner.
In the EU 5,000 additional people have voted, but the ratios haven't shifted, in fact the percentages are identical to yesterday's:

The US saw even more new entries, with 6,000 players chiming in, but there's still no movement on the percentages there either, as it's going to take a lot more focused support for any of the mounts that aren't the Ancient!

Unfortunately we weren't able to get an updated number from the Asia servers.
It's great to see that many people voting, especially in the last day, as it shows how passionate the WoW community can be. You can also see that in the fan art, which you can check out here, and even some potential similar in-game models here. So get everyone you know to vote for the Spelltome, uh, we mean your favorite, whichever that may be! We totally don't have a favorite!

Unbridled Darkness is a Demon Hunter simulator that turns your screen pitch black while in Torghast, Tower of the Damned, in Shadowlands.
Blizzard has been testing three special Torghast events on the Beta lately. In the game files, they are also referred to as holidays, meaning they will likely rotate regularly when the game is out.
These include Beasts of the Prodigum, Chorus of Dead Souls, and Unbridled Darkness. Here is a blue post that discusses all three in more detail.
      (Source)
With this week’s update to the Shadowlands Beta, we’re kicking off a test of some special events for Torghast, and we have them set on a daily rotation. The first Anima Hoard you discover on a run will have unique choices that help define the rest of your run.
      The events include:
Beasts of Prodigum: Your first Maw power chest allows you to gain control of a powerful Maw beast that fights alongside you during your run. Subsequent Maw powers you receive in this run have a chance to modify the beast and grant it special abilities. Chorus of Dead Souls: Your first Maw power chest allows you to assume the form of a Deadsoul Chorus, granting you special abilities. While in this form, your party members can right-click you to join your form and cast on the move. Subsequent Maw powers enhance your Deadsoul Chorus form in a variety of ways. Unbridled Darkness: Your first Maw power chest can grant you a vial of darkness that you can activate. Using it turns your screen completely dark and you are unable to see your surroundings. While under this effect, you gain large combat bonuses. Subsequent Maw powers enhance your combat bonuses or modify the darkness. Please let us know what you think of these as they come around in the Beta!
Unbridled Darkness turns your screen pitch black, and you won't see anything so long as it's active. You cannot manually enter or leave the darkness, but when active, your damage, healing, and movement speed will be increased.
Uncontrolled Darkness - Darkness envelops you every 5 kills, causing you to be completely unable to view your surroundings. While under this effect, your damage and healing done is increased by 150% and your movement speed in increased by 50%. This effect is only removed when you kill 5 more enemies. You will NOT be able to enter or leave the darkness manually. Darkness Rising - Darkness envelops you every 5 kills, causing you to be completely unable to view your surroundings. While under this effect, your damage and healing done is increased by 150% and your movement speed in increased by 50%. This effect is only removed when you kill 5 more enemies. You will NOT be able to enter or leave the darkness manually. Darkness Fading - Darkness envelops you every 5 kills, causing you to be completely unable to view your surroundings. While under this effect, your damage and healing done is increased by 150% and your movement speed in increased by 50%. This effect is only removed when you kill 5 more enemies. You will NOT be able to enter or leave the darkness manually. Vial of Unbridled Darkness - Release the darkness for 15 sec, causing you to be completely unable to view your surroundings. While under this effect, your damage and healing done is increased by 75% and your movement speed in increased by 30%. 90 sec cooldown. Flask of Unbridled Darkness - Release the darkness for 30 sec, causing you to be completely unable to view your surroundings. While under this effect, your damage and healing done is increased by 75% and your movement speed in increased by 30%. 60 sec cooldown. Anima Powers that you loot while climbing the tower empower Unbridled Darkness in various ways.
Censer of Suffocating Shadows - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, release a wave of magic every 1 sec, inflicting [ 100% of Spell Power ] Shadow damage to enemies within 10 yds. Tollar's Dancing Garments - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you have 25% increased dodge chance. Form of Darkness - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, killing an enemy unit extends its duration by 5 sec. Unbridled Darkness is automatically removed from you while out of combat. Wild Flail of Tollar - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you lash out at the nearest enemy OR player within 5 yds every 2 sec, inflicting [ 400% of Spell Power ] Shadow damage. Globule of Cloying Darkness - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you have 20% increased mastery and 20% increased critical strike chance. Tollar's Hidden Flask of Fortification - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, your maximum health is increased by 40%. Weight of Darkness - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you gather 100% increased Phantasma. Sands of Desperation - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, your time flows 30% faster. Oddly Intangible Key - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you take 30% less damage from area of effect attacks. Tollar's Willful Blinder - The duration of your Unbridled Darkness is increased by 5 sec. Huddled Carvings - Your damage done is increased by 100% if you and an ally within 5 yds are both under the effects of Unbridled Darkness. Harvester of Shadows - If you and an ally within 5 yds are both under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, you heal for 15% of your maximum health every 1 sec. Writhing Shadow-Tendrils - While under the effects of Unbridled Darkness, your attacks have a chance to cause a dark explosion and inflict [ 200% of Spell Power ] Shadow damage as well as blind enemies within 5 yds of your target for 6 sec.
The Unbridled Darkness mechanic requires coordination and is fun when you're playing with more players in the party, but it can quickly get frustrating when you're clearing the tower alone and have no clue what you're doing.
