Diablo 3 Patch 2.4 Inspect Change is Not a Bug

Patch 2.4 has descended upon Diablo, and with it a surprisingly small number of bugs. So far the majority of players have been experiencing the new features without issue. There was however a concern about the Inspect feature being bugged. So, what is going on?

Players who were attempting to utilize the Inspect feature, which allows them to view another player's character sheet were finding the system to be seemingly removed.

Often while in groups, players might discuss gear that they've found or are wearing. Another common situation is asking a fellow player to view their gear and help them decided on how to improve.

Strangely, at first Blizzard had said this as a bug as well. Then, they went back and said what players are experiencing is growing pains of the new system, and that the functionality is as it was intended to be.

It seems that their intention was to clean up and outdated and bloated menu system with the change. This might even be a good move, however the function has been the same since the game's launch four years ago. Understandably many players were confused at the change, and were unable to parse how the new system worked.

Wyatt Cheng explains the changes in the forum, and agrees that their implementation fell short. Hopefully this will be clarified in the UI soon.

The final Blue post is below for you!

Hi everybody,

Quick update on this.

After looking at reports and testing it seems the underlying functionality is working correctly but the feedback in the user interface is inadequate.

Patch 2.3:

View Profile was always available but the results were not guaranteed to be up to date (usually based on when the person last entered/left a game)
Inspect was NOT always available (had to be within 100 yards of other player) but the results were always current of what the player is wearing.

What is currently live:

Functionality of View Profile and Inspect have been merged. If the other person is not in range, you get the same information as View Profile before. If the other person is in range for Inspect, then you get the most current information of what the player is wearing.

However, there is no interface feedback at whether you are looking at a "Live" version of a "Cached" version of the data. This is understandably confusing and something we'll look at.

To summarize: View Profile works and if you're within 100 yards of your target you are given a live view of them. (Source)

Dominion's Revenge (StarCraft anniversary) pet is coming to consoles, but requires Patch 2.6.1a to go live.
Players can get the StarCraft anniversary pet Dominion's Revenge on PC for logging in after March 6, 2018. Console players started wondering whether the pet's going to be available on consoles as well, because it's not live yet. The good news is it's coming to consoles with Patch 2.6.1a. The release has just been delayed according to reports.

      Yes! Allow me to explain:
This pet will be coming to console. However, it requires Patch 2.6.1a (which is where it was implemented) to acquire, which has not yet been deployed to console for technical reasons.
As soon as we are able to deliver that patch, console players will also be able to enjoy this pet. :)
