heroes HotS: Balance Update Frequency, Browder Tweets Round-Up

Spyrian clarified on the official forums that Balance Updates won't be issued every week if there's no need to. On the other hand, Browder tweeted about Li-Ming, Tychus and other interesting subjects.

Balance Update Frequency

Spyrian wrote on reddit a reminder that while Blizzard is happy with more frequent patches, it's likely Balance Updates won't be issued every single week if there's no need for them.

Blizzard Icon Quote by Spyrian

I just want to comment that we have had patch/balance updates every week for the last 6 weeks. I know that over the holiday break people were going a bit insane at the "staleness" of the meta, now... we have changes impacting us weekly... which is awesome!

I know we've had a lot of balance updates recently, but I want to remind everyone that these aren't necessarily going to happen every single week. Our goal is to release these more frequently than we have in the past, but if we don't need (or aren't able) to release a new balance update every single week, then we won't.

Dustin Browder Tweets Round-Up

Browder answered interesting question on various subjects lately. The most interesting can be found below.

Li-Ming's Incoming Nerfs

Blizzard is currently looking at Li-Ming's damage dealt to Structures. Even though Structures are really fragile for the time being, it's not certain whether just a single Hero's damage will be reduced or if they plan to buff the total Health and damage of Structures.

Ban System Update

Blizzard's internally testing Bans, no release date yet.

Tychus Rework

The team's currently working on improving Tychus.

Generics Removal

Blizzard is slowly working to remove generics. New Heroes don't have them and a lot of old Heroes are gradually receiving reworks.

Future Higher Skill Cap Heroes

A user asked whether there are plans for similar higher skill cap Heroes like Li-Ming in the future.

Arthas Rework

Arthas is being worked on, Blizzard is happy with his win rate, but not with his talent variety.

Weird, first they nerfed structures to have faster games, then they buffed forts because you weren't even safe under the fort, and IMO you still don't feel safe at this patch, any hero can jump and go back without dying. Now they want to reverse everything to what we had in Alpha :D

Structures have been problematic for a long time; Sylvanas being able to single-handedly destroy forts in early game is outrageous the same applies to Li-Ming and possibly other Heroes. We'll see which approach will Blizzard make, but they should either:

  • Boost the Health of Structures and damage output during early game
    • This would eliminate the need to alter damage output of certain Heroes dealt to Structures.
    • Specifically boosting Structures in early game and not touching mid-to-late game health would make games still fast and remove the initial nuisance.

or

  • Specifically pinpoint the Heroes and nerf their damage done to Structures (which is the lengthier, more time-consuming approach and doesn't make too much sense to me developer-wise).

It's bad news for players that regurlarly go AFK during matches or die intentionally. Another banwave went out yesterday.
      Spyrian
We’ve just issued a new round of account suspensions and bans for players who regularly go AFK, refuse to participate, or intentionally and repeatedly die during their Heroes of the Storm matches.

Today’s action was targeted at those whose in-game performance data clearly indicates a consistent lack of contribution to the majority of their matches. In order further confirm which accounts should be suspended or banned, we also review the data behind every one of these accounts by hand, as well as examine the volume and types of in-game reports these players have received. Through this three-point verification process, we are able to take regular and confident action against players who are intentionally harming the in-game experience for others.

Going AFK, refusing to participate, and intentionally dying are behaviors that ruin the experience for everyone else in a match and undermine the spirit of competition that’s essential to Heroes of the Storm. Taking part in these actions will not be tolerated, and we will continue to suspend and ban players who do. We’d like to thank those of you who use the relevant in-game reporting options when you spot these negative behaviors in your matches, and encourage you to continue doing so.
      Thank you!
