Patch 7.1.5: Volunteer Guard Day Micro-Holiday

Recommended Posts

The Volunteer Guard Day lets you take on the role of a guard by performing the /salute emote on them. The micro-holiday will be live on April 23.

You can take on the appearance of any guard, by doing /salute. After that you will get the buff Volunteer City GuardVolunteer City Guard that causes you to be periodically attacked by different City Invaders. You can participate in the event even if you're not at max level. The invader's level will be adjusted to your character's level. Other guards have quite a long aggro range when it comes to invaders, so if they're at lower levels they may one-shot them and you may not have time to tag them to get a kill count.

The buff lasts 24 hours and persists through death and won't wear off if you leave the city. Killing a higher amount of invaders will give you different buff variations (descriptions) like "Defender" and so on.

It doesn't matter if you're male or female, you will take on the appearance of any guard you perform /salute on while you target him.

There are various invaders ranging from Shadow Priests using DispersionDispersion up to Tauren Druids wearing Tier 2 sets.

Every invader kill will increase your invader kill count on your buff, which can be viewed by any player that hovers over it.

The event isn't limited to a single town or your level. As long as you have the buff and you're transformed into a guard, you can teleport or visit a different town. Invaders will continue to attack and guards will assist you.

I don't believe so, no.

I think it's just for fun.

We're back with another mount preview, this time focusing on the new Covenant-specific mounts! Some of the mounts also actually have 4 colors, whereas Blizzard have only shown off three, and there's a look at the new Covenant specific Pepes at the end as well.
Each Covenant will receive their specific flying mount when we unlock flying at the end of the Covenant campaign. We're still not quite sure how all the color variants will be attained (presumably some via anima purchases etc.), but they are very impressive in all the variants. Venthyr seem to have won the lottery, as theirs is just far and away the best-looking, with some really great detail of the red anima coursing through the stone. The Kyrian get a nod to both the Phalynx and the stewards, while the Necrolord one is a clear reference to Jeff Goldblum. The Night Fae mount has been discussed to death when it was announced, so the less said the better.

Blizzard posted updated Burning Crusade Beta notes, where they go over attunements, Badge of Justice, WoW TCG in Classic, and more.
Raid testing in the Burning Crusade Classic Beta is now underway, and we’ve received many answerable inquiries on every aspect of the game. What follows is an outline of the answers to many common questions about the Beta, which we will update as necessary over the coming weeks.
Attunements will function as they did when originally released. Original questlines will be required to enter each instance and purchasing Heroic dungeon keys will require Revered reputation. These attunement requirements will relax as the game progresses through its content phases. For example, Karazhan should initially require attunement, but will no longer require attunement at a later phase. Thereafter, a group should still need the Master’s Key to open the gate. Dungeon keys should be relaxed to require Honored reputation at a later phase. Throughout Burning Crusade Classic, we plan to make it so that progress on forthcoming raid attunements can be made before the opening of the raid the attunement is for. For example, you should be able to start the Black Temple attunement for killing A’lar once The Eye is open, which will be before Black Temple is open. Dungeons and Raids
Original health and damage values will be used. These, as well as some mechanical changes, will then be adjusted in future phases. The original state for raids will persist throughout the phase during which it is current content. With the release of the next phase, adjustments will be made as they were in original Burning Crusade. Exceptions will be considered. We’re looking forward to your feedback on adjustments during the testing of future PTRs. Buffs acquired from creatures and quests across Outland are purged upon entering an instance. This does not apply to world buffs from the Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor. Those auras cannot be obtained by player-characters above level 63. Ritual of Summoning will not work inside instances or Netherstorm. Items
Badges of Justice will not drop in raids until a later phase, however, Badge of Justice dailies will be available in all phases. Developers’ notes: While these were both changes made late in original Burning Crusade, we feel that dailies provide healthy gameplay in encouraging dungeon variety, without significantly impacting gear acquisition. Primal Nether, Nether Vortex, and World boss items from Doomwalker and Doom Lord Kazzak will initially be Bind-on-Pickup, as they were in original Burning Crusade, and should be updated in a later phase. Primal Nether and Nether Vortex will become available from the Badge of Justice vendor at a later phase. Outland faction vendors will initially sell the items that they originally sold, and their offerings will update as content unlocks. Examples: the Swift Skyfire Diamond gem recipe from the Consortium, the Mysterious ammo from Karazhan, and PvP gear from all factions. Ring enchants and Jewelcrafting-specific gems now have a profession requirement to benefit from them. Developers’ notes: The design intent for these perks were a player power reward for having that profession, and the fact that they continued to function after unlearning that profession was a technical limitation in original Burning Crusade. Weapons that were changed from Main-Hand-only to One-Handed late in original Burning Crusade will be restored to their original version in Burning Crusade Classic, and should be updated in a later phase. Developers’ notes: Changing these to One-Handed was a very late change in original Burning Crusade that would have a notable impact on player power. Epic engineering goggles will become available from trainers with the Tier 5 phase. Haris Pilton, Zephyr, and Cooking and Fishing dailies will be available from the beginning, as they do not directly or largely impact player power. Landro Longshot will not offer WoW Trading Card Game code redemption. Developers’ notes: We don’t intend for the Burning Crusade Classic to make duplicate use of WoW TCG codes, nor do we want players who have unredeemed codes to choose between games for redemption. Landro Longshot may be repurposed in Burning Crusade Classic for a different use, but that will not be related to the WoW TCG. Please feel free to post your feedback on any part of the Burning Crusade Classic Beta here in this forum. We greatly appreciate it!

It's time to go back to the beginning of Chains of Domination, as LeysTV takes us through the first questline in the new patch.
Starting in Oribos, we see the aftermath of the attack on the Archon (and get the confirmation that she did survive), and everyone concludes the Jailer is coming after the Winter Queen next. We spend some time preparing for an attack in Ardenweald and see some familiar faces return, as Sylvanas arrives (with her new model) to ruin the day and we have a confrontation with her. We also get to see Tyrande again after a long while (for us non-Night Fae players at least), so let's take a look!
There's also the patch intro cinematic, but you can just skip to 3:33 if you just want the actual questline:

We have our first look at the new raid coming in Chains of Domination, as we check out the Sanctum of Domination environments. WARNING: this is a very rough state and Blizzard did not intend for the raid to be seen yet, so take it as a very early work in progress look. We also get to see through the very op of the tower, where it breaks into Azeroth and Icecrown (except not really)!
Deamon3217 has dug up some files on the new raid and run them through an external model viewer, so there's a whole lot of clipping around only seeing the edges of the tower, but we also get to see some potential boss arenas and the very top of Torghast.
Interestingly, there's some rooms that have a distinct Maldraxxian look, possibly related to the Kel'thuzad encounter, and the most interesting thing I've managed to spot is a telescope marked with the Jailer's runes, aimed vaguely "up" - possibly looking at Azeroth through the Icecrown hole (although it's not really positioned exactly at the hole, but it's magic ok)?
However, this isn't the first time we've seen the upper parts of Torghast, as Hezerd has peeked in months ago, when none of the details were in yet:

So, any guesses as to which boss goes where?

it appears Blizzard has updated the mammoth walk animation in Chains of Domination.
Emstring noticed on the PTR that mammoth mounts have a different walk animation in Patch 9.1. Here is the new walk animation.

Here's also a vid recorded by Emstring from the PTR. For some reason, it doesn't play, so you need to watch it on Reddit.
