Gathering storm Vs BoS on HRW

Recommended Posts

Hi there !

I've got a bit of an issue here : with my current stats, I seem to be unable to re-cast Remortless Winter after hitting the 10 stacks of GS (thus extanding the duration of max damage RW) without at some point in BoS + HRW spamming obliterates, and in the process waisting some runic power.

Here is my set and stats : 1489480912-2017-03-14-094128.png

It might just be that I don't have the right stats yet, but is it worth overcapping some RP in order to cast a second RW at 10 stacks ?

best answer evur: it depends

you shouldn't always expect to hit the full 10 stacks of gathering storm. The only 2 times in the fight you are guaranteed to do so is during lust and during HRW, exactly one each. So beyond that you just want to maximize as many stacks as you can. Now, I am a proponent of delaying your cast of remorseless winter one or two GCDs in order to further fuel it. However, if we are in the BOS window fueling BOS is more important, so if you have like say under 6 seconds off the CD of RW then delay your obliterates a bit, however, if you are under 40 ish rune power don't delay, you get more damage from a couple more ticks of breath than you do another stack of RW. Its a fine dance you gotta play with and depending on your haste and other factors it'll differ from person to person.

so don't expect to always get 10 stacks of gathering storm, do try to maximize stacks, even wait a gcd or two to do so, but never at the cost of BOS fuel (if you are low on rp).

clear as mud right? :D

More or less what demon said. I will say though that I am able to get it extended sometimes without HRW or lust. Maybe that's just luck or something but I can say that during BoS out rune gain is enough to extend it sometimes because of runes you gain because of runic power being spent, though partially rng.
