Viper Skins Preview

Recommended Posts

LFNA44R.jpg

Blizzard posted a new video on Twitter with previews of the recently leaked Viper skins.

New Ana, Genji & Stukov Skins

FuUtO4o.jpg

Sidewinder Ana

As Viper's deadliest sniper, Sidewinder is personally responsible for killing the organization's most prominent enemies. Were it not for her, Viper may never have risen to power... a fact that she uses to her advantage whenever she is contested.

XlYglLe.jpg

Deathfang Genji

No one knows who Deathfang used to be. Some say he was a high-ranking Viper general; others that he was a common soldier. Whoever he was, his old identity has been permanently wiped from Viper's records. All that remains of him now is his kill count.

HRRIHjS.jpg?1

Imperator Stukov

Thanks to sound military tactics and the fierce loyalty of Viper's soldiers, the Imperator has crushed his enemies and established a new world order. It is only a matter of time before his robotic fist snuffs out the dying embers of rebellion.

kWrXbwY.jpg

New Mount?

J4nwKDh.jpg

At the end of the video, we can see a photo of what appears to be a young Sombra.

The skins were probably announced in advance due to the leaks from the official website. We might see them go live with the Whitemane patch soon.

M.Bison vibe from Stukov intensifies.

Yeah, even more so that before, as he already had "dictator" variation of his skin. Also, they look a lot like Brotherhood of Nod from C&C and Talon from Overwatch. I wonder who was the person who punched the screen (if it wasn't Stukov?).

I'm not sure why they have Genji out in front. From the names and look of the skins I would think Imperator Stukov should be the one in front leading them all at this rally of Viper forces. In fact I assumed he is the leader of the whole thing from the description of the skin.

Now the real question everyone wants to know; Who is the girl in the picture? And who's fist it is shattering the screen at the end of the video? Clearly it's implied that there's a connection there between the two.

I was guessing in the previous post about these new skins that they weren't going to be revealed until either the next rework(s) or next new hero reveal. It looks like with the end teaser/hint to a new hero this likely wouldn't have been released till about a month from now before some reworks and starting a new 'event' of sorts. So it would be hinting at whoever the next new hero  would be as well a few weeks after the skins release. If it had not been for the error of someone putting up the new skin names on the official site that is.

I'd guess with the error/leak they said 'Fuck it! Put out the trailer early...'. Hopefully this won't mess up any time table they had for plans of upcoming events and such.

Loving this. Will be sending many opponents to Gulag with these skins 🙂

The ending was a nice touch. Not sure who punches the screen!

Can you really call them terrorists if they take over the world?

That's like calling rebels rebels after they defeat an empire and establish a new republic.

What about the person smashing the TV in the end and the Photo? New Skin? New Hero? The girl in the pic does really look a lot like young Sombra going on facial features. Hair is kinda off but I don't that could've changed easily when growing up.

There's the best screen I could find on Reddit.

TBH it could be anything...

I've seen a Youtube video with the analysis suggesting that person is Soldier 76 (and the girl on the photo is young Pharah). The guy's logic does make sense, though I wouldn't consider it set-in-stone.

Yeah I've seen that been put out there. And I agree - logics-wise it's not that far off. Although Pharah's never shown with that kind of hair and we know how she looked when she was young from several official Artworks. Adding Soldier? I don't know... Wouldn't he be just Raynor 2.0 with Fenix' Ult? With mobility of course, since he's an Overwatch Character…

I guess we'll see; it's far too eraly for such things - Whitmane's not even on the PTR yet.

Agreed. TBH, they've already killed a few good OW character ports. I mean, if you re-theme Yrel's abilities and make her Sacred Ground into a large damage absorbtion zone (absorbs X damage from each damage source for Y seconds), you're just switching Ardent Defender with Primal Rage away from getting Winston. Alas.

Eh, I don't think so. We managed to get three World of Warcraft representatives of the Warrior class (Muradin, Varian and Garrosh) and they're all unique in their own way.

I don't think that one Yrel's Heroic Abilities is enough to justify barring Winston from joining the roster. He would definitely be played differently than Yrel, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I don't think we'll ever get Roadhog in Heroes of the Storm because he would play exactly as Stitches. I could see him becoming a skin from Stitches, though.

I think the only OW characters we can 100% rule out getting into this game are Roadhog and Widowmaker. Roadhog would be way too similar to stitches and Nova already has a Widowmaker skin so telling the two apart when they're on the same team would be difficult and make what skins you have impact the game.

76 I would imagine is hard to translate into this game as his kit is pretty striaghtforward but in a pinch they could probably do it.

I'd say Garrosh mostly represents himself with all the abilities unique to him, and Muradin represents Mountain Kings of WC3, rather than WoW Warriors. Varian is a good face for those, though.

For the Winston's part, I mostly meant Yrel's basics. I mean if you re-theme those, E is basically the rocket pack, and W is a swipe he uses in Primal Rage. Re-fashion Holy Ground into Barrier Projector, get actual Primal Rage (disruption power enhancements, maybe basic attacks W, but attack speed is majorly slowed, or straight-up cooldown where his abilities are cast at max charge for a short time) and you're basically done, it is only to redesign the Q.
I maybe a little biased here, because I despise Yrel as a character, both WoW and HotS, but at least I hoped she'll be representing Ret Paladins. Yet her only nod to those is Avenging Wrath and it hardly similar to the original ability. That's why I think her kit should've been given to Winston, if he was planned for the HotS.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed by her kit as well. Not that she is not fun to play, though (her voice is a bit annoying though).

Supposed "leaks" say that Winston is planned for HotS, but after Blaze's leak we haven't got a single concrete leak that turned out to be true. Either they were fake or Blizzard is now hiding their stuff better to avoid those potential leaks.

Doesn't fit, since Roadhog has a gun, would be rather silly for him to only bash enemies in melee range. There are ways to bring him, like making his hook have a differnt range and cd, maybe paired with instant shot from his gun. One of his abilities could have been his right-click attack from OW (longer range spread). In the end, hero is just a skin for kit. It seemed unlikely to have Butcher, since he also had a hook like Stitches, yet they've made his kit and role completely different from Stitches.

The fist that shattered the TV seeem to be from the new Stukov skin itself, specially since it's the right arm.

If we have a hint about new content I would bet more on the girl's picture.

The only thing remotely similar in Kit abilities is the Leap. She has no bubble shield, she doesn't rage out or does her primary attack auto-target multiple enemies.

I think the hand at the end of the vid looks like Roadhog's. The little girl on the photo is holding a piggy plushie, and might be a reference to "Roadhog's daughter" fanfic. All things add up, my hype is real!

Maditdrakes created an awesome video of how Mei should have been introduced to the Nexus...well, sort of! The video is a shorter recreation of the Diablo IV announcement cinematic trailer that we saw back at BlizzCon 2019.
In the video, we see Mal'Ganis, Kharazim, and Mei in the role of Lilith.

The Climate Phenomena Nexus Anomaly has proven to be disruptive to the normal flow of the game and caused FPS drops, so Blizzard removed it from the game.
The current plan is to have one more Nexus Anomaly in 2020 and going forward, anomalies won't be pursued at a set cadence.
      (Source)
      Hello fellow Heroes!
After reading through your feedback and deliberating amongst ourselves, we have decided to remove the Climate Phenomena anomaly from the Nexus. While this was not an easy decision to make, we feel it is the right thing to do for the game. We also wanted to take this time to more clearly define the purpose of our Nexus Anomalies, and our plans for them going forward.
Nexus Anomalies were intended to serve two functions:
We wanted to distribute our annual gameplay updates throughout the year, giving us the freedom to try exploratory changes that we weren’t committed to if they ended up not working out. Previously, we introduced all our gameplay updates each year around BlizzCon. These updates were usually fairly impactful, and many players had trouble adjusting to the large amount of sudden change. We wanted Heroes to have an exciting, fun change for players to look forward to every season. As far as what exactly each Anomaly would entail, we did not have too many set rules, largely to ensure that we had the creative freedom to try bold ideas. So far, we believe our Anomalies have largely been successful, particularly after we had some time to iterate on them.
With Climate Phenomena, we wanted to play with two ideas. The first was introducing a new Hero to the Nexus with an accompanying theme, and the second was the prospect of changing game states throughout a match, with a minor impact on gameplay. Unfortunately, we’ve found that these changes were too disruptive to the normal flow of the game, and they didn’t add enough fun factor to account for how much they impacted the player experience. Some players also reported frame-per-second (FPS) issues due to the Anomaly, which we found to be unacceptable.
Moving forward, we intend to finish the year with one more Anomaly, released alongside the final season of 2020. After that, we have decided that we will not be pursuing Anomalies at a set cadence like we did this year. We still plan on regular gameplay updates, and will continue to experiment with ways to make Heroes a better game, so you can count on that still happening. In the future, we want to take a bit more time and release updates only when we feel they are in a more polished state, and we want to give the members of the Development Team the freedom to explore certain longstanding issues that we think are important to the community. For example, we’re considering large updates to maps that we feel could use some design improvements.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read through our thoughts, and for the years playing this game, which we love so much, alongside us. We’ll see you… in the Nexus!
