An overview of all in-game events taking place this month in World of Warcraft.

Darkmoon Faire (December 2nd - December 8th)

  • The Darkmoon Faire is open for business. Meet Silas Darkmoon and his troupe, play games that test mind and nerve, and behold exotic sights from the four corners of Azeroth... and beyond!

Wrath Timewalking (December 4th - December 11th)

  • While this event is active, players level 81 or higher may access a special Timewalking Dungeon finder queue, which scales players and their items down to revisit past dungeons from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. While Timewalking, bosses will yield loot appropriate for a player's natural level. During Wrath Timewalking, you may assemble a raid group of between 10 and 30 players, travel to Dalaran in Northrend, and speak with Vormu to access a Timewalking version of the Ulduar raid.

Patch 8.1 Goes Live on December 11th

Battleground Bonus Event (December 11th - December 18th)

  • While this event is active, random Battlegrounds will award Honor at an increased rate. Glory awaits in the fields of battle.

8.1 Tides of Vengeance: War Campaign Part 1 (December 11th)

  • (A): Continue the War Campaign by joining Jaina Proudmoore in the defense of Kul Tiras. Rally your allies and rout the Horde!
  • (H): Continue the War Campaign by joining Rexxar in Kul Tiras and disrupting the Alliance's Azerite weapons testing.

PvP Brawl: Arathi Blizzard (December 11th - December 18th)

  • Put away your bathing suit, pull out your parka, and enter a winter wonderland as the Arathi Basin you know and love gets a fresh coat of ice and snow. You'll be racing your way between the farm, stables, mine, lumberyard, and blacksmith through piles of snow and over a - mostly - frozen lake. One more thing: the weather forecast calls for a bit of fog of war. We hope you're prepared for the weather.

Feast of Winter Veil (December 16th - January 2nd)

  • Greatfather Winter is visiting the cities of Ironforge and Orgrimmar, courtesy of Smokywood Pastures. And throughout Azeroth, it is the season to be jolly!

Battle for Azeroth Dungeon Event (December 18th - December 25th)

  • While this event is active, the final boss of each Battle for Azeroth dungeon awards an extra item when defeated.

8.1 Tides of Vengeance War Campaign Part 2 (December 18th)

  • (A)A new ally in the war needs your help-- and a little bit of gnomish engineering--to execute his brilliant plan.
  • (H): Assist Trade Prince Gallywix in a test drive of his deadly brand new mech, the G.M.O.D.

PvP Brawl: Cooking Impossible (December 18th - December 25th)

  • This is a new brawl that takes place in Valley of the Four Winds and includes our favorite chef Nomi.

Pet Battle Bonus Event (December 25th - January 1st)

  • While this event is active, your pets will earn experience at triple the usual rate! Get out there and battle!

PvP Brawl: Gravity Lapse (December 25th - January 1st)

  • Gravity getting you down? Step into the Eye of the Storm and be prepared for a whole new en-lighten-ing experience. Every minute, players on the battlefield will find themselves launched into the air, only to gently fall toward the ground again in a perpetual aerial ballet as they try to accrue enough resources to take the win home for their team.

Fireworks Celebration (December 31st)

  • Azeroth celebrates! Each racial capital holds fireworks shows every hour, all night long!

In this week's 8.3 Build 32805, Blizzard has updated Death Knight eyes with Lich King style smoke.
Blizzard has updated the Death Knight eye glow multiple times throughout 8.3 testing. Below is a comparison of the last two PTR versions and the one we currently have live on 8.2.5 retail.

Thanks to reddit user Malevolent_Vengeance for the screenshot.
In this week's 8.3 PTR patch, the latest version comes with smoke coming off of their eyes.

      Patch 8.3.0 Build 32805
All races can become Death Knights in Visions of N'Zoth and there will be a new starting experience for the class which involves Bolvar. If you want to create an Allied Race or Pandaren Death Knight in Visions of N'Zoth, you must pre-order WoW Shadowlands.

In Patch 8.3, any tanking specialization or a Druid of any spec with Bear Form active will have a flat +50% threat modifier applied to them when they unlock the Major Slot on their Heart of Azeroth. Changing specs to non-tank specs or leaving Bear Form will remove the threat modifier.
Up to now, tank specializations received bonus threat for each slot they had unlocked on their Heart of Azeroth. This is changing in Visions of N'Zoth and you'll receive +50% threat once you've unlocked the Major Slot.
A player with Heart of Azeroth level 70 should have roughly the same amount of total threat modifiers before and after Patch 8.3 goes live.
Let's hope the threat modifier will be baseline for all tank specs in WoW Shadowlands.
      Blizzard (Source)
We made a change via hotfix a few months ago to grant Tank specialization characters bonus threat for each slot they had unlocked on their Heart of Azeroth. In the Visions of N’Zoth update, we have changed this slightly.
In Visions of N’Zoth, once you have unlocked the Major Slot, if you are any tanking specialization or a druid of any specialization with Bear Form active, you will just have a +50% threat modifier applied to you. Changing specializations to a non-tank specialization or leaving Bear Form will remove this threat modifier.
There is no longer any bonus threat for each unlocked slot, you just get a sizable threat bump from the start. This should help reduce some issues where tanks with different Heart of Azeroth levels and slot unlocks were having difficulties with threat between each other.
edit: This threat modifier should be multiplicative, not additive. A player currently at Heart of Azeroth level 70 with all slots unlocked should have roughly the same amount of total threat modifiers before and after the Visions of N’Zoth update hits.

With the release of the updated Recruit A Friend program, unclaimed rewards from the previous version of the program will expire on December 31.
Here's a short reminder for everyone with pending RAF rewards earned under the previous version of the program. You must claim them before the end of this year.
      Blizzard (Source)
UPDATE: If you were active in the previous Recruit A Friend program, you will no longer be able to earn rewards under the previous program as of December 31, 2019. All unclaimed rewards earned under the previous program will expire and we will be removing the redemption functionality.

Hurricane released a teaser for the Black Temple trailer that will be slightly longer than his Naxxramas trailer released back in 2017.
Hurricane has been working on the Black Temple trailer for the last three months and we will need to wait a little longer for the full video.

Ny'alotha raid testing continues this week with The Prophet Skitra on Mythic difficulty and Halls of Devotion, the second LFR wing of the raid.
      Blizzard (Source)
On Friday, December 13th, we will be continuing our raid tests in Ny’alotha, the Waking City. After the test is complete we will make the second wing of Looking for Raid available for the weekend.
      Friday, December 13th
The Prophet Skitra - Mythic Ny’alotha, the Waking City
      13:00 PST (16:00 EST, 22:00 CET)
Halls of Devotion - Looking for Raid Ny’alotha, the Waking City
      14:00 PST (17:00 EST, 23:00 CET)
As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.
Q: How do I get into the raid zone?
A: In Zuldazar, Boralus, Dalaran, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade III in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)
Q: What character should I use to test the raid?
A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players’ effective level to 120 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.
Q: How long does testing last?
A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we’re satisfied that we’ve received that information for a given boss, we’ll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.
