Item Level 385 Crafted Gear Now Requires the Profession to Equip in Patch 8.1

Recommended Posts

Redditor Makesmashgreatagain noticed after 8.1 went live that ilvl 385 crafted items no longer work if you abandoned the profession used to craft them.

Update: This was an unintended bug that was recently reverted.

Emblazoned Deep Sea Breeches Emblazoned Deep Sea Breeches now require Zandalari Tailoring (110) as depicted in the screenshot below. The player switched to Alchemy/Enchanting and after Tides of Vengeance, the crafted item was red and gave no stats. The change was omitted from the official patch notes. We don't know at this time if it's just a bug or intended.

Professions

  • Fixed a bug that allowed some Battle For Azeroth crafted gear to be worn by player characters who no longer had the crafting skill to create it.

This was reverted so you can now wear crafted gear that you previously had. The new profession requirement only applies to any future gear you craft.

How much foresight would it have taken to make sure that currently crafted items will still be wearable? It makes you wonder how terribly that company must be ran internally for such glaring mistakes like this that BFA has had already.

Sure was nice trying to raid mythic with 330 ilvl.

Yeah it was a bad change, not so much because of locking BoP professions items to that profession, but because it was made midway through a cycle. The Engi goggles had Requires Zandalari Engineering (115) right there on the item, the other professions? Nope. Consistency and communication is important Blizz, the players who made their gear and dropped their profession for another one did nothing wrong, since you didn't communicate the requirement to keep the profession.

Concerning consitency, i do not understand why juwelers can't craft a 385 item while other professions can. It wouldn't even have any mainstate on a ring, so there is no reason to say it would be overpowered. There isn't even another senguicell recipe. Where is the consistency in treating professions equally? - Ah well yeah i forgot, seems to be the new bfa-design-guidline ?

I want to say you will be able to craft a ilvl 355 and a 380'ish ring with the new designs that was released this patch.  However you won't be able to farm some of the new mats till the release of the new Raid.

Mh, so i overread it in patchnotes or it was not mentioned. But if its not possible to get the needed resources before next raid, this crafting is meaningless...

LeystTv is back with some more evolution tracking, this time focusing on everyone's favorite Demon Hunter and everyone's second favorite Orc! Well, probably not everyone's but still. We're taking a look at how Illidan and Saurfang's models evolved over the years and, as you can imagine, Mr. Stormrage has a few more to show off.

Number 7 is particularly interesting, as it was never used and added in Shadowlands. It seems likely it was related to a flashback, possibly connected to Malfurion's quests in the expansion, but we can't be sure. Hopefully everything is still going alright in the Seat of the Pantheon...
And then there's ex-Warlord Saurfang, the formerly greatest tier 1 Might shoulder spokesmodel ever:

There was also a joke in the twitter thread about the final Saurfang model missing, the Old Warrior's Soul.
It's always great to do these little trips down memory lane, while also finding some new models that may not have been so prevalent/noticeable, so thanks to LeystTv for this series!

Players have been gathering in masses to farm out all the (many) drops the Diablo crossover event goblins are dropping, and it seems there's one drop Blizzard didn't specifically mention in their event overview.
As spotted by DesMephisto and many others, it seems the treasure part of their name doesn't only refer to all the items and cosmetics they drop, but also gold! 500-1000 or so, in fact (update: it seems the numbers can go a LOT higher than that, with some reporting getting as much as 10,000 gold!)
The goblins spawn every 30 minutes, alternating between Orgrimmar and Stormwind on the full hour and every 30 minutes in Dragonflight zones. You can grab a Weakaura here to have a timer on when the next spawn is and where here, or check out a spreadsheet of all the upcoming times here.
Not exactly astronomical numbers, but considering how quickly they die, it might be worth the hassle. Players have been gathering in large numbers, trying to get everything from the mount, pet, bag and all the cosmetics (although the charms have lost some of their appeal since Blizzard disabled them in instanced content).
And while the low, low framerates when that many people gather up are problematic, others have found a different sort of fun, as faction warfare sometimes ensues!
Despite some players getting quickly bored with the event, it's still quite a lot of free loot to get, so it's not all bad. What do you think of it all? Too simple and boring or "thanks for the free stuff"?
If you're looking for their spawn times and locations, you can check out a Weakaura for that here.

Xirev has created a spreadsheet for the Diablo cross-over event with spawn times of all Treasure Goblins, covering both NA and EU regions. Check it out!
Treasure Goblins during the "A Greedy Emissary" event are on a fixed rotation and avid achievement collector Xirev has created a handy spreadsheet with the exact spawn times.
