Patch 8.2 Hotfixes - July 3rd

The latest round of hotfixes comes with nerfs to Epic gems. They now increase your secondary stat by 50 (down from 60). Crafting Junkyard Tinkering blueprints now automatically uses reagents stored in your reagent bank, and more.

Achievements

  • Revealing treasure chests while scrying in Nazjatar should now reliably grant credit for Nothing To Scry About Nothing To Scry About.

Creatures and NPCs

  • Prince Erazmin's best friend, Scrappy, is now better at traveling Rustbolt to encourage the resistance. He should no longer occasionally fall through the ground.
  • Unleashed Arcanofiend’s Proximal Chaos attacks are now a bit less chaotic.
  • In Nazjatar, there are now fewer slugs in rocks. Eww.

Items

  • Epic gems with a secondary stat now provide 50 of the secondary stat (was 60).
    • Developers’ note: The power increase of Epic gems over Rare gems is too large, putting players in situations where the right choice is to use a much lower iLvl item with a socket over a Titanforged upgrade. We’re making this change before Season 3 begins to limit the number of affected players.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some punchcards in the to be labeled "Titanforged" at a lower item level than intended. (No items were harmed in the making of this bugfix.)
  • Chain Ignitercoil Chain Ignitercoil is no longer sold by vendors in Mechagon.
  • Secret Fish can now be sold, and the sounds they make have been fixed. Don’t tell anyone.
  • Ionized Minnow Ionized Minnows can now be stored in the Reagent Bank, as well as Engineering and Fishing Bags.
  • The following now automatically use reagents stored in your reagent bank:
    • Crafting all Junkyard Tinkering blueprints.
    • Contributing to construction projects.
    • Using the Charging Station to charge Empty Energy Cells.
  • Heart of Azeroth Heart of Azeroth
    • The Seething Rage Seething Rage buff from Blood of the Enemy (Essence) will now properly modify the critical damage dealt by any summoned units, such as those summoned by a Shaman or a Monk's Storm, Earth, and Fire Storm, Earth, and Fire.
    • Classes with pets that use energy will no longer cause their pets to gain an increased energy regeneration rate when using Memory of Lucid Dreams (Essence).

Missions and Followers

  • Fixed an issue where some players could receive the Zem'lan's Lost Treasure Map Zem'lan's Lost Treasure Map mission a second time with no loot. The mission is now removed if it has already been completed.
  • Missions with the Deep Sea mechanic now have a base time of 24 hours and are properly countered by Naval Expert.

Player vs. Player

  • “Call to Arms: Nazjatar” can now properly be completed by slaying the opposing faction in Nazjatar.
  • Battle for Nazjatar
    • Additional improvements have been made to this event. It should now become active more often, while still ensuring that there are mix of Horde and Alliance players present.
    • Factions that control more capture points within the Battle for Nazjatar event will now yield more Victory Points. This works similarly to Arathi Basin or the Battle for Gilneas.

Quests

  • Reduced the amount of quest items needed to complete many Requisition quests and Bounty daily quests in Nazjatar.
  • "The Reclamation Rig" construction project will now more reliably give achievement credit to all players who contributed to its construction, even if further away when it is completed.
  • Players can now see Venture Co. Transport Balloons while "Taking The Air Out".
  • “The Doppel Gang” should now reliably give credit to all players who participate.
  • Avarius should now spawn as expected once all the Brinestone shards have been placed.
  • The Zoatroid Harvesters required for "Dirty Dozen" now path better, and are more tap friendly, with appropriate health.

Support

  • Fixed an issue preventing some players from submitting tickets in-game.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some tickets submitted in-game to incorrectly show as submitted via web.

World Quests

  • A recent change in diet has made the chitin on glimmershell crab shells more resistant to breaking during combat, resulting in Hefty Glimmershells of usable quality dropping more frequently when you’re in "A Steamy Situation".
  • The spell intended to recover your corpse during “Infestation of Madness” no longer incorrectly sends your corpse to Nazjatar.

World

  • Players should no longer experience phasing issues around the Tidestone in Nazjatar.

      Limit have done it after many, many low % wipes! Za'qul, Harbinger of Ny'alotha has fallen, opening the way to Queen Azshara, the final boss of the raid and we get to see what she looks like on Mythic. Obviously huge congratulations on the kill. Method have been doing Heroic splits all day

      First off, let's take a look at that Za'qul kill from GM Max's PoV, which is actually tank Darkee's PoV, as Max isn't playing, but is actually just coaching. We're also starting at the exciting part a little later in the fight:

      The big thing here is that Limit prepared and geared 4 fire mages, which other guilds didn't gear up, which gave them a big advantage on Za'qul specifically.
      And now let's move o to Azshara, with the very first pull ending in a wipe extremely quickly, with the new Mythic wall/laser mechanic causing chaos. Here's the second pull, which went a little better. While we technically don't get to see the Queen herself yet, we get a better idea of the new mechanic, and it's always great watching a guild figuring out new things about a boss for the very first time.

      An amazing performance by Limit overall, but the race is far from over and we'll see how long it takes Method (or any of the other 5 guilds curently progressing on Za'qul) to catch up, as Limit is now generating a lot of advantage as they progress on Azshara!

      The Eternal Palace Mythic progress race has begun in the US and OC regions and we already have three bosses down, with 7 guilds on 3/8! Big Dumb Guild and Limit are fighting neck and neck at the very top at the moment and you can watch all the action live!
      This post will also be the main hub for our own coverage of the race, consisting of daily summaries, videos and updates on what's going on.

      Another big day in the race as a couple of guilds caught up to the very top, and plenty caught up on the earlier bosses, but the headline is Za'qul (very, very barely) lives! We've had some major progress on the penultimate boss of the raid, with Limit getting so close to the kill they could taste it.
      The day started pretty standard for a Friday, with very slow going on progress for Za'qul and Method slowly learning the fight and what strats and comps to use, not really getting too far ahead of the previous day (36%) in regards to actual boss hp. Meanwhile we had a lot of guilds with a lot of catching up to do, with only Method and Limit having gotten past Orgozoa and Queen's Court.
      This time Pieces did come through on their reputation and were the first non Method/Limit guild to break through that 5/8 barrier and downed Orgozoa World 3rd, EU 2nd. The next kill on the jellyfish was both expected and unexpected, as Aversion once again followed Pieces with only an hour and a half delay and grabbed the 4th kill, very impressively. That 5/8 very suddenly went from 0 to 3 guilds, as Ji Tian Hong grabbed that Asia 1st and World 5th, showing the power of the Asia server guilds once they caught up to their massive 2 day disadvantage.

      We then had an interesting development in Limit's Za'qul progress, not necessarily in terms of how far along they got, as they were only 1.2% better than the previous day's best, but their GM and raid leader Max benched himself. Max continued raid leading from the bench, watching the new tank Darkee's PoV and calling all the shots, coach-style, basically becoming the 21st raider. Check out the video of this best try at the time with the very interesting dynamic of Max's raid leading:

      Pieces were the next to make waves as they took 6 hours on Queen's Court to down her, finally joining Method and Limit on 6/8 and grabbing that World 3rd, EU 2nd on another boss. We then had a visit from best name ever contenders FatSharkYes as they moved to 5/8 and got the Orgozoa World 6th and EU 4th, followed by AFK R on 8/Asia 2nd and Club Camel on 9/US/OC 2nd!
      Around 2:30 AM CEST it was looking like Limit had gotten both their strat and composition down and were comfortable with the execution part as well, as they moved the boss down a pretty big chunk from their previous best try, landing on 20%. The next 3.5 or so hours were filled with constant progression and lower boss hp, from 12% to 8, etc, with it all culminating in a 1.3% pull at 6AM:

      This try was amazingly close and you can see the frustration on Max's face, but this made Limit determined to get the kill before they went to sleep, which they usually do around 8-9AM CEST. The next 2 hours went by with several sub-10% tries, with a 6% one being the closest, at least until the next HUGE disappointment. At 7:50AM Limit managed ti beat their previous best, which you'd think would mean they killed it, but no, they got the boss down to 0.9% before wiping.! They also reached around 170 pulls compared to Method's 106 and compared to Limit's Lady Ashvane at around 80. Unfortunately, all their post 0.9% effort was for naught as they didn't manage to get that kill by 9AM when they finally decided it wasn't worth pushing any further and went to sleep. Method will start raiding soon and pushing onward from the 27% best that they stopped at before bed. Whether Limit's new tries will give an advantage to Method in the form of using the same comp and strategy remains to be seen, as it all depends on which classes and specs are properly geared and whether a guild can even execute the other's strats properly depending on that. And just before we finish, let's take a look at the last few minutes of that heartbreaking 0.9%/2 Million HP try:

      Limit are actually still going at it, so if you're interested definitely visit Max's stream and get into the crazyness live! In case they do get before they go sleep, we'll make a new post, as Za'qul deserves it (not to mention our first peek at Mythic Azshara)!
      All in all, it was an incredibly exciting day (or, more specifically, night) as progress on Za'qul was truly great, with it going down very quickly at first, then a little slower towards the 30% mark, and finally being stuck in the 20-30% range as many, many strategies were tried out, only to finally become very killable once Limit found their winning strat. Whether Method can push forward while Limit sleep, as Limit did when Method slept remains to be seen, or more specifically, can they actually go that 1 very small step further and actually get the kill. The race is really heating up and the top two guilds are incredibly close to both each other and the kill, with Queen Azshara awaiting them beyond the 7/8 barrier.

      The hotfixes have finally started shrinking significantly, as we get a relatively small batch today. The previously announced Purification protocol change arrives, with two more essence changes to go with it, we get a big buff to timewarped badge rewards for missions and a whole lot of quest changes.

      Followers and Missions
      Missions that reward Timewarped Badges now reward 50 Timewarped Badges (was 15). Items
      Heart of Azeroth Purification Protocol ’s (Essence) Rank 2 Major Power’s effect no longer causes an annihilated enemy to trigger Bolstering, Bursting, or Sanguine affix effects when it dies. The Well of Existence (Essence) now becomes stealthed when its wielder enters stealth (e.g. Druids’ Prowl or Rogues’ Shroud of Concealment). Vision of Perfection (Essence) no longer grants Guardian Druids with its Minor Power’s Rank 2 healing effect at Rank 1. Quests
      Fixed an issue that prevented some players from receiving a Call to Arms Distinction after completing the weekly “Call to Arms” quests. The amount of Construction Project materials needed for “Cogfrenzy's Construction Frenzy ” has been reduced. Additionally, purchasing access to the Charging Station from Flux now fills 50% of the quest completion bar. Increased the damage of Lord Hydraxis and decreased the health and damage of Zan’jir Scaleguards in “The Lords of Water ”. The length of the time to complete the quest has been adjusted. Fixed a bug where Deepwater Maw sometimes didn’t spawn when using the Hundred-Fathom Lure during “Let's Fish! ”. Clockwork Giants can now be scanned by multiple players in “The Other Place ”.       Blizzard just announced an upcoming hotfix for Purification Protocol's major effect at rank 2. Purifying Blast will no longer cause instantly killed enemies to trigger Bolstering, Bursting, or Sanguine affix effects when they die.

      We’re working on a hotfix for how this Essence works in some affix situations:
      Purifying Blast (Purification Protocol’s rank 2 major effect) will no longer cause an annihilated enemy to trigger Bolstering, Bursting, or Sanguine affix effects when it dies. It’s a unique effect, where Purifying Blast (Purification Protocol Rank 2) sometimes causes an enemy to be “Annihilated” – instantly killed. We think that’s cool and fun, however, it can be frustrating in Mythic Keystone dungeons when you sometimes need to very carefully plan for the Sanguine, Bolstering, or Bursting affixes when killing enemies.
