Patch 8.2 Hotfixes - July 3rd

Recommended Posts

The latest round of hotfixes comes with nerfs to Epic gems. They now increase your secondary stat by 50 (down from 60). Crafting Junkyard Tinkering blueprints now automatically uses reagents stored in your reagent bank, and more.

  • Revealing treasure chests while scrying in Nazjatar should now reliably grant credit for Nothing To Scry About Nothing To Scry About.

Creatures and NPCs

  • Prince Erazmin's best friend, Scrappy, is now better at traveling Rustbolt to encourage the resistance. He should no longer occasionally fall through the ground.
  • Unleashed Arcanofiend’s Proximal Chaos attacks are now a bit less chaotic.
  • In Nazjatar, there are now fewer slugs in rocks. Eww.

  • Epic gems with a secondary stat now provide 50 of the secondary stat (was 60).
    • Developers’ note: The power increase of Epic gems over Rare gems is too large, putting players in situations where the right choice is to use a much lower iLvl item with a socket over a Titanforged upgrade. We’re making this change before Season 3 begins to limit the number of affected players.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some punchcards in the to be labeled "Titanforged" at a lower item level than intended. (No items were harmed in the making of this bugfix.)
  • Chain Ignitercoil Chain Ignitercoil is no longer sold by vendors in Mechagon.
  • Secret Fish can now be sold, and the sounds they make have been fixed. Don’t tell anyone.
  • Ionized Minnow Ionized Minnows can now be stored in the Reagent Bank, as well as Engineering and Fishing Bags.
  • The following now automatically use reagents stored in your reagent bank:
    • Crafting all Junkyard Tinkering blueprints.
    • Contributing to construction projects.
    • Using the Charging Station to charge Empty Energy Cells.
  • Heart of Azeroth Heart of Azeroth
    • The Seething Rage Seething Rage buff from Blood of the Enemy (Essence) will now properly modify the critical damage dealt by any summoned units, such as those summoned by a Shaman or a Monk's Storm, Earth, and Fire Storm, Earth, and Fire.
    • Classes with pets that use energy will no longer cause their pets to gain an increased energy regeneration rate when using Memory of Lucid Dreams (Essence).

Missions and Followers

  • Fixed an issue where some players could receive the Zem'lan's Lost Treasure Map Zem'lan's Lost Treasure Map mission a second time with no loot. The mission is now removed if it has already been completed.
  • Missions with the Deep Sea mechanic now have a base time of 24 hours and are properly countered by Naval Expert.

Player vs. Player

  • “Call to Arms: Nazjatar” can now properly be completed by slaying the opposing faction in Nazjatar.
  • Battle for Nazjatar
    • Additional improvements have been made to this event. It should now become active more often, while still ensuring that there are mix of Horde and Alliance players present.
    • Factions that control more capture points within the Battle for Nazjatar event will now yield more Victory Points. This works similarly to Arathi Basin or the Battle for Gilneas.

  • Reduced the amount of quest items needed to complete many Requisition quests and Bounty daily quests in Nazjatar.
  • "The Reclamation Rig" construction project will now more reliably give achievement credit to all players who contributed to its construction, even if further away when it is completed.
  • Players can now see Venture Co. Transport Balloons while "Taking The Air Out".
  • “The Doppel Gang” should now reliably give credit to all players who participate.
  • Avarius should now spawn as expected once all the Brinestone shards have been placed.
  • The Zoatroid Harvesters required for "Dirty Dozen" now path better, and are more tap friendly, with appropriate health.

  • Fixed an issue preventing some players from submitting tickets in-game.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some tickets submitted in-game to incorrectly show as submitted via web.

World Quests

  • A recent change in diet has made the chitin on glimmershell crab shells more resistant to breaking during combat, resulting in Hefty Glimmershells of usable quality dropping more frequently when you’re in "A Steamy Situation".
  • The spell intended to recover your corpse during “Infestation of Madness” no longer incorrectly sends your corpse to Nazjatar.

  • Players should no longer experience phasing issues around the Tidestone in Nazjatar.

With all the new cosmetics coming to light with the 9.1 PTR it seems some players have been inspired to create their own, with two in particular standing out yesterday, one being a pretty cool idea and the other... well, it'll depend on your faction and thoughts on the small usually pink-haired ones. Interestingly enough, both mounts were made by the same player.
Let's start with the one that's actually likely to happen at some point, as Juan Castro took a shot at upgrading Pepe from a pet to a proper mount, and basically reversing the player-Pepe roles:
You can also check out the making of right here:

Then, apparently as a thank you to r/wow on the success of the Pepe thread... this happened:
Not quite sure what to say here, aside from, I guess it has flying at least? Despite the very jokey nature of it, there's still a lot of talent there and there's surely a part in all of us that has at one point wanted to surf around the air on a gnome. No? Just me then? Ok.

The Slime Serpent has been one of the few mysteries eluding the WoW Secrets community, and it's looking like it's been solved in a pretty uncomplicated way!
There has been a lot of speculation and theorycrafting surrounding this one, as it was always known to drop somewhere within Plaguefall, and today it's all turned out to be relatively simple and disappointing for the WoW Secret Finding Discord. It's unclear whether this was just added in patch 9.0.5 or perhaps even in a more recent hotfix, but Community Manager Muffinus did say that the mount was available way back in November, so it's possibly it's just been sitting there this whole time.
The actual solution to the mystery is... just solo the last two bosses of Heroic (or Mythic0) Plaguefall. Yep, that's about it. No secret shirts, no buffs that need to be active, no grand journey across the Shadowlands, just solo killing Margrave Stradama and Domina Venomblade in order to get to her, which then triggers a secret quest completion and spawns the serpent in the Domina area pool. There might still be some Renown requirements, but none have been spotted so far, but as most players that have gotten it so far were well caught-up on their Renown (but not all were at the cap), there is a possibility there's some level required, but so far it seems just the solo clear.

Source: User Epic on the Secret Finding Discord.
And here's a closer look and the hidden quest completion, courtesy of Discord user Mat:

You just interact with the serpent there and get the Slime Serpent mount!
The first to find this by accident was Hunter Durendil, who was just soloing the dungeon for a video! Huge thanks to the WoW Secret Finding Discord, as they picked up on this very quickly. Now actually soloing the last two bosses on Heroic isn't exactly trivial for some specs, so this one may still be fairly unattainable for some, but hopefully Blizzard can reduce the requirement to Normal at some point.
Players aren't too happy with this particular secret however, because aside from the fact that it's not particularly interesting nor complex, it's actually going to be pretty hard for some classes, with players already resorting to using badly geared alts, as it's their best bet to be able to solo clear Heroic.
And here are some happy players showing off their mounts. From the Secret Finding Discord: Killsun, Forkbeard(Robin), Cucmber:

In an interesting bug on the PTR today, Sylvanas seemed to want to stick around and fight the player instead of just stunning them and leaving in the Battle of Ardenweald intro questline.
Draezx had the pleasure of fighting the Banshee Queen directly in Ardenweald, but unfortunately we didn't get to see how it ended, although presumably the DK didn't quite win in the end:
She's not even marked as a boss there, just a simple level 60 elite (although with quite a bit of health it seems), so it's obviously not the actual character we'll be fighting in the raid. As for the actual boss encounter, we've recently found some very interesting things in the Sanctum of Domination that indicate how the fight will end, with some major story implications, so head on over here if you want to read about that.
Also, as you'd expect, the thread also provided some hilarious comments, including some deep insight into Sylvanas lack of learning after her first Arthas setback:
It's a really cool bug there, and hopefully we'll see it replicated during the PTR with a group or even raid trying to take Sylvanas down ahead of time. We've seen strange bugs like these before, where NPCs can get killed despite it not being intended, most noticeably with the Archon actually dying in the Spires of Ascension, which actually triggered a very specific and obviously intended/programmed response. You can check that out here.
Meanwhile, you can also take a look at how the Battle of Ardenweald questline actually plays out here.

We're looking at Sanctum Gloomcharger. The mount drops from "The Nine" encounter in the Sanctum of Domination raid in Patch 9.1.
Sanctum Gloomcharger is a mount that drops in the new raid, very similar to Abyss Worm from Tomb of Sargeras or the Antoran Charhound from Antorus in terms of drop rate. It's another horse mount with the following flavor text:
"Only the Jailer's most powerful lieutenants are gifted these steeds to stalk the halls of the Tower."
Here is a detailed preview of the mount.
