Wouldn't it be more beneficial using moribund bracers w/golem, as opposed to simalucrum?

No. There are more problems with this. 

Simulacrum - Reservoir doubles your Essence pool, which translates into a huge damage buff through the cubed Shadowhook. More damage means faster kill speed, which means more corpses to devour - way more than one per second which the golem could shed.

The other problem is where to put the Gauntlets. You can cube it and lose tasker&theo, or equip and use a Ring of Royal Grandeur for the 6 set bonus, losing one of the rings in the process. Both are massive reductions to damage and further slowing down the "snowball down the hill effect" of the build.
