Amazing Fan-made New Eastern Kingdoms Loading Screen

Recommended Posts

eGgxIeY.png

We have some impressive fanart to share today, as slendydaddy has looked ahead and, in preparation Shadowlands, re-made the Eastern Kingdoms loading screen! There's been some criticism on the people included, especially the very Alliance-heavy lean, but it's pretty damn good regardless, even though it could use some more Horde presence (as Valeera isn't affiliated with the Horde at all) and Malfurion's inclusion is a little weird. Perhaps slendydaddy knows something about Shadowlands we don't?

it's strange blizzard seemed to want to bring people back to the old zones in BfA but didn't change the loading screens to reflect that, I can't even remember the last time they changed significantly for EK or Kal

It feels quite a bit oversaturated to be honest (Malfurion comes through as the first holy druid of the Warcraft universe), but I like the theme.

They're still the loading screens from Cataclysm, that's when Thrall started wearing the super bead necklace.

I'd like it if they'd take these good fan-mades and just use them.

It's literally free labor, if someone wants their work in there.

Would be nice but I assume that they can without paying the artist. The question is then why would they and not ask someone they already pay internally!

They wouldnt have to pay them internally to do it, they can focus on creating new content.  There are probably plenty of people who would volunteer to have their work used in major game for little or nothing.

This guy created the work with zero promise of payback, after all.

...then blizz should have no problem using it for free.  It certainly looks better than current art.

Not really, especially since there is no loth'remar here... And the night elves still live in Kalimdor.

BTW Starym, he does not know something about shadowlands we dont.
He made a kalimdor one too, but it has gallywix leading the goblins (He left the horde... Gazlowe is leading) He also has cairne, instead of baine. He also has thrall with doomhammer and his old look. As Well as Lilian voss, a barely visible velen, and a random troll.

Well, I don't think I see what's so amazing about a bunch of character arts copy-pasted into Eastern Kingdoms map. Moreso, the filters make them blend with the background turning the picture into yellowish mess, duh.

Not necessarily this picture, but other fan art that might be more accurate.

I mean all they gotta do is put out a feeler and SOMEONE will make it.  I guarantee it.

I mean a chance to have your own artwork in a major retail game?

...and for the night elves, I swore their entire main city portaled to SW after the tree burnt.

So a full list of everything wrong in both maps.

EK-
Malfurion is still in darkshore.

Greymane does not look like that in wow, that is Hots artwork.

Mekkatorque artwork is already out of date, as he now has a large machine on his chest.

Valeera is not part of the blood elves, she is part of the Alliance, he instead of Loth'remar makes no sense.

That dwarf is magni... Who does not lead the dwarves, and is made of diamonds right now. Why is he there instead of at least ONE of the council of three hammers who lead the dwarves.

Kalim-

Velen is extremely overexposed why? he looks so bad in this.

The thrall art is straight from warcraft, why there is random orcs in the background, idk but it makes it cluttered. Thrall is also weilding doomhammer, and well this is art from warcraft reforged, yes this is thrall from over 10 years ago, he looks nothing like this now.
That tauren is cairne... who has been dead for many years now... that is not baine...

I do not know who this troll is in the top right but its not Rokhan.

Why is gallywix here? he has also left the horde along side sylvanas, he is no longer the leader of the goblins. Gazlowe is.

Final score-

EK has only 1 person correct.

Kalim has only 2 people correct, but one of them looks like a blob.

I normally would not go this hard on something fan made, but its rather easy to do if not just time consuming, as none of the artwork is actually fan made, its just blizz artwork put together on top of a map. Especially since so many things are just blatantly wrong that could have been easily fixed by using other characters.

The issue of "There is no art of them" doesent work, cause if you are going to use genn's artwork from hots, why not gazlowes? As gazlowe is leading the goblins, not gallywix.

There is also up to date loth'remar art, so no excuse of "valeera was the only one with up to date art"

Pair that with news sites like this blowing it up "AMAZING FAN MADE" and blowing off right out mistakes as "Perhaps the mistake was not a mistake, and they know something we dont." I know its a slow news day but come on.

Its a good job of throwing stuff together, im sure removing the background from some of these pieces must have been hell. But it coulda been done a lot better, and the person does not "know something about shadowlands we do not" im more annoyed this is somehow passed as worthy news, then someone having just made it.

Valeera isnt Alliance nor Horde! She fights for her friends and ideals no matter which faction they belong to.

Tanks are getting a lot of focus in Shadowlands with the increased Mythic+ focus, and it's only going to get more intense with the next pach, so we rounded up some funny stories, depressing interactions, memes and similar. Here's a grab-bag of tanking experiences from many players.
While all tanks are always needed, things change around the +15 mark, as it's not just DPS that have this particular experience, and if you're one of the least popular/worst specs...
Then there's this type of terrible, which hasn't really changed that much since, well, forever, as there will always be assholes out there, but there really do seem to be more and more of them these days, especially in Mythic+...

      Source: ChoGallMeta.
And even if you do well, it's never enough for some people:
But, sometimes it's quite a different feeling, as however terrible players might be to you, you're still a tank damn it!
And there are some perfect moments that can only come from tanking, including this one titled "My greatest M+ tanking Achievement...":

      Source: Sheth1984.
If the group gets really annoying, you can always have the last word too:

      Source: Boars89.
And finally, if you get REALLY tired of all the DPS not interrupting, the healer selfishly trying to keep those idiots that stand in every mechanic under the sun alive instead of keeping you above 80%, or people dare to question your route, you can always just go with your own kind!

As 9.0.5 approaches, we wanted to take a look at just how many players were playing which specs in Mythic Castle Nathria before the patch changes hit. We made some charts for the Warcraft Logs numbers and will be doing them by role, starting with DPS. All of the stats below are based on the past 2 weeks of raids.
While we know what the biggest DPS performers are from our weekly check-ins with the Nathria logs, the actual number of players in the raid by spec are close, but look a little different. The most interesting/jarring fact of all on the DPS side is that 4 specs take up more than half of the entire Mythic population:

Those last few stripes that are so tiny are Frost DK, Assassination, Demonology, Arcane and, of course Survival at the very end. Source: Warcraft Logs.
The fact that Marksmanship, Fire, Balance and Affliction take up 51% of all DPS specs in Mythic Nathria is a little mind-boggling, especially since performance-wise, those specs don't really stand out that much (aside from Balance, who has reigned supreme for a long time now). Shadow is a particularly interesting case, as it's been at or near the top of the DPS rankings for a long time (it's currently in 3rd spot), and yet its numbers here are pretty low.
Now let's take a look at the tanks and healers, as their numbers are even more distorted, with some extremely dominant specs. For tanks, Vengenance's domination won't surprise anyone, as it's been the go-to spec for basically all of Shadowlands:

      Source: Warcraft Logs.
In comparison to the DPS role values, 2 tank specs hold 62% of the population, and 3 come up to 74%.
We see an extremely similar situation for healers, with 2 specs holding 55%, with the bottom two barely breaking 15%.

      Source: Warcraft Logs.
The biggest takeaway here is in the DPS department, where the numbers don't necessarily conform to the DPS rankings, although the specs that have been generally in the top for a longer time are more represented, as you'd imagine. The dominance of so few specs, however, is a little staggering, especially when looking at tanks and healers.  We can only hope 9.0.5 and its later hotfixes can address these specs, so perhaps some significant buffs would help there.

The Mythic+ premade group finder gets a lot of use, and the more frustrated players get with it, the weirder the descriptions of the groups get, so we're taking a look at the funny, creepy and one truly perfect one.
The first one we're taking a look at is your basic reverse psychology move, with some interesting math on top:

      Found by: NORATHEDESTROYER.
Then we're on to something similar, although a little weirder, with this (hopefully) satiric post:

      Found by: Dasquare22.
And now here's something... new, really weird and pretty creepy (with the added bonus of many boost group reports in the chat log, which has become a default part of the premade group finding experience):

      Found by: Galind_Halithel.
This next one isn't really about the description, but two of the groups on the list, and the piece is titled "Ships in the night":

      Found by: AKeeneyedguy.
But we saved the best for last, with probably the most accurate description and the most successful way to find good group members:

      Found by: sentenza63.

You've probably/definitely run across some similarly hilarious or weird ones in your time with the group finder, so post them below if you remember what they said!
