Player Reaches Exalted With 21/22 Factions in WoW Classic

Recommended Posts

We haven't heard of Hycran for some time after he completed "Insane in the Membrane" in Classic, but now, the player's back with the Scarab Lord title and  21 Exalted reputations out of 22 on the Horde side.

The final 22nd reputation is Bloodsail Buccaneers, and that would require 25 days of /played and repeatedly killing Jazzrik in Badlands, which is a single mob with a  5:30-8:30 variable respawn timer, so he decided not to pursue that reputation and ignore it.

Here's what he had to say about it all.

What a long, strange trip it’s been. Today, I capped off the end of my rep grinding journey by reaching max exalted with the Brood of Nozdormu, bringing my total number of max exalted reputations to 21 of a possible 22 on horde side. While the total amount of available horde reps is 23, the total amount of exalted reputations you can receive is 22 as revered is the highest rank you can achieve with either of the centaur clan (I ride for my Gelkis, I die for my Gelkis).

What started as something to do to kill time blossomed into a number of world firsts that both amused and annoyed my friends and on-lookers. Despite being like DJ Khaled and suffering from success, all good things must come to an end and this will be my last self-congratulatory reddit post for the foreseeable future.

Of course, the first question that comes to mind is, why stop at 21/22, why not catch em all? As I’ve stated in some of my previous threads - Classic World First Exalted with ShendralarClassic World First Non-Rogue Exalted with Ravenholdt, and Classic World First Insane in the Membrane (but not Darkmoon Faire, oops!) - the final reputation, Bloodsail Buccaneers, requires approximately 25 days /played killing Jazzrik in badlands (a single mob on a 5:30-8:30 variable timer). I’ve been on record as stating I wouldn’t pursue that reputation, both as it is an extremely unappealing prospect generally, and in light of the fact that shortly after finishing my grind to secure my legendary Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal (and my Hand of Ragnaros, which I made the same day as I got my mount, double legendary day, not bad!), I became a father to a beautiful son and would rather spend time with him and his beset upon mother.

I’m certain that someone will come along with all 22/22 on horde side and, unlike previous threads, I’m confident that I’m not the first person who is first to 21 exalted reps, first to max brood, or first to both simultaneously. It’s not even a guarantee that I’m the first horde player to 21/22, although if I’m not, there likely are not more than a handful of people ahead of me merely by virtue of their AQ gates opening before mine did.

On a complete tangent, I pause to note that, in Vanilla, my druid has approximately 125 days played. In that time, the hardest boss he killed was Huhuran. A lot of people in streams and youtube videos slag classic as being “easy” and a “joke”, but the fact is that it is a beyond unfair comparison considering back in the day people played on potatoes with copper wiring sticking out and internet modems that could literally disconnect if your mom picked up the phone. That being said, in approximately 100 days played, Hycran already has much better gear in every aspect than his Vanilla counterpart, and has slain C’thun multiple times. The game is so much better understood and optimized that I was really able to accomplish vastly more in a much shorter amount of time, including getting the scarab mount I never got back in the day, and likely having more fun along the way.

All in all, I feel blessed to have achieved this milestone and credit, as always, the love and support of my guild <Darkness> for my in game success. From begging for runecloth bags in the mid-teens to late night carapace farming sessions, from our first rag kill to persevering on those FUCKing Firemaw pulls, from inappropriately timed mid-raid deathrolls and reminiscing about the days when we could kill Jaina after Onyxia for free gold without getting DHKs, they have stuck with me through thick and thin and I couldn’t have asked for a better guild to be a part of. Our week one full clear of AQ was amazing and it’s onwards and upwards to Naxx from here.

In closing, I note that WoW Classic has not been, is not, nor will ever be a perfect game. As we are all too well aware, there have been and continue to be a number of serious issues that affect the game and negatively impact people’s enjoyment of it. While it can be frustrating at times to feel like nothing is being done or that our voices aren’t being heard, there is one thing you can always do that is within your power: have fun. However you find the game fun, make sure you’re doing that and while things may not be perfect, at least you’ll be enjoying yourself along the way.

Thank you as always for your time and attention. I hope my posts have been amusing and helped you to enjoy the game, if only a little bit.

Be kind to yourselves, and each other.

Anyway, huge congratulations to Hycran on this impressive feat!

"The game is so much better understood and optimized (...)".

Yet he continues to say: "WoW Classic has not been, is not, nor will ever be a perfect game."

He further explains how they aren't heard as a community. Hell, do they want Vanilla, or do they want a different game?

While retail players are waiting for the Shadowlands version of the Scourge invasion, it's arriving to the Classic PTR right now!
      Scourge Invasion (source)
A little while ago, we enabled the Scourge Invasion on the Public Test Realm (PTR).
This event was first released with original WoW patch 1.11, and will happen in WoW Classic concurrent with the release of the Naxxramas raid.
The basic structure of this event is that Necropoleis appear in six different zones, with crystals spawning beneath, and undead spawning around those. Killing the undead allows you to combat the crystals, which in turn allows you to clear the necropolis and defend the zone.
You’ll find scourge invasions marked on the World Map with a purple skull in:
      Eastern Plaguelands
      Burning Steppes
      Blasted Lands
      See you there!

As the Phase 6 Classic PTR continues, we now have some Naxxramas raid testing scheduled! This Thursday we get to try out 3 bosses in the Military Quarter, including the legendary Four Horsemen!
      Raid Testing (source)
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, we will be begin our raid tests in Naxxramas, starting with the Military Quarter.
      2:00 p.m. PDT (5:00 p.m. EDT) to 6:00 p.m. PDT (9:00 p.m. EDT)
      Available Bosses:
Instructor Razuvious Gothik the Harvester The Four Horsemen Known Issues:
Gothik the Harvester’s encounter may fail to clean up properly after a wipe. This testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.
Q: How do I get into the raid zone?
A: To facilitate and expedite testing, there is an NPC named Johnny McWeaksauce that has taken up temporary residence at Light’s Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands. He will provide players with Naxxramas attunement and instant teleportation into the Naxxramas raid. Johnny’s brother Jimmy, can be found within the raid and will provide access to consumables and reagents.
Q: Can I test with less than a full, content-ready raid?
A: There will be a zone aura present within the raid that will provide players with a significant health and damage boost to help them overcome the challenges of Naxxramas. The intent of these raid tests is not to provide a challenge that perfectly matches what we expect players to experience when the raid goes live. The intent is to exercise boss mechanics and give us additional confidence that the raid encounters are behaving as expected. The hope is that even if you cannot muster a full 40-person raid to test with, or wish to form a pick-up-group on the PTR, you can still participate and make considerable progress within the dungeon if you so desire.
Please use the in-game bug reporter to send us any bug reports or issues that you encounter while playtesting on the PTR. We appreciate you taking the time to test this content, and we look forward to your feedback.

It seems the update to PvP pools that removed non-existent characters has been delayed, due to a lot of player feedback on the issue.
      PvP pools (source)
Following further review, we’ve decided to wait to address this issue. The change announced for this week will not be implemented.
We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve developed a solution to the issue of non-existent characters being counted, that conforms with the great deal of feedback we’ve received.
      Thank you!

We've seen some weird stuff lately, from Stockade speed runs, to DM Tribute solo speed runs, my personal favorite, the fastest death speed run, the 80 character multi-boxing max level speed run, and a lot more, but this one might just take the cake. However, it also might actually have some value to players, as the runs actually serve a very specific purpose: getting the right name for your Imp. Considering there are over 960 Imp name combinations and it's something that you'll be seeing a lot of in your entire playtime as a Warlock, many players have some preferred names.
And so Dendo set out to perfect the fastest Imp name run in Classic, and may have just achieved that goal!
There's also an interesting little tidbit from redditor PlayerSalt, in terms of unique Imp names:

Most of us are probably used to Hunters pulling everything in sight (either from personal experience or the memes), but this one went and did the opposite! It seems to be the week of speed clears, from the AQ40 ones to the weird Stockade race that just spontaneously started , and now we have a pretty cool one as well. Zeroji has been trying to perfect the Dire Maul Tribute solo run, and is pretty close to it, if not done. There's also a really great moment at the end of the video when you realize he's apparently a Hunter in real life as well!
In this 5 minute run he only kills 1 Wandering Eye that's patrolling and the 2 final bosses themselves, using some great tricks including an Invis potion, a lot of Feign Death, and some pet tricks on top of that, as well as knowing the layout perfectly. It's a really fun watch, even if you're not impressed by speed clears in general:
