1-Shotting 15 Players With 1 Chaos Bolt

The rules of the game are but mere suggestions for Rextroy, as he's back with another insane 1-shot, this time a very lawnmower-looking Chaos Bolt that just trims everyone's life totals to 0 (from around 40K), with an item level of 229.

As with most Rextroy tricks, this one has already been patched since he immediately reported it to Blizzard when it was found, as it actually worked in Mythic+ as well! What's happening is he's exporting the (stackable) Soul's Darkness Soul's Darkness buff from Sanctum of Domination and using it to boost the shadow damage of Chaos Bolt Chaos Bolt, in addition to a specific legendary and, well, as is now usual in these things... some toads. There's a lot more to it, from turning the bolt into AoE, getting to the targets etc, but first let's take a look at the glorious lawn-mowing going on and then Rextroy himself will explain what's going on below (as well as in the video):

Background: This combo relies a lot on the insane raid buff Soul's Darkness Soul's Darkness , obtained in the new raid Sanctum of Domination. It gives you a 60% damage boost to shadow, this includes Chaos Bolt Chaos Bolt. Keep in mind the buff has already been fixed by now, it persisted outside the raid, even in m+ which had me report the bug before uploading the vid. Since the buff is only 3 minute duration, I had to be quick after obtaining it. Setting my hearthstone near durotar at Ratchet.

Funny thing to keep in mind btw, is that chaos bolt is not actually chaos damage. It lacks the physical / holy part of the "chaos school". This is the reason anti magic shell absorbs Chaos Bolt, but it won't absorb Fel Rush Fel Rush (since DH Fel Rush is true chaos) Or well... atleast sometimes it won't and sometimes it will? something is bugged with that school or anti magic shell, perhaps Metamorphosis Metamorphosis is the reason Fel Rush goes through even tho that wouldn't make sense

You can see Chaos Bolt lacks holy and physical school. Just like last time, we use Bane of Havoc Bane of Havoc to get chaos bolt to hit everyone. I tried with a lot of different legendaries, but the most useful one for AOE was the Decaying Soul Satchel Decaying Soul Satchel. With this we stack up a 20% crit and haste boost on some gently squeezed toads. We need a way to get close to the enemy before the satchel buff drops off, and for this we will use the Oddly-Shaped Horn Oddly-Shaped Horn from Pandaria. This makes you instantly mount at 300% increased movement speed for 20 seconds, a really fun item!

The last important part of the combo is the First Strike First Strike and Wild Hunt Tactics Wild Hunt Tactics soulbinds from Korayn. To do the AOE one shot, we prepare the satchel buff on some toads, then we rush into the enemies we wanna one shot. We use all CDs and consumables, then Bane of Havoc followed by Summon Infernal Summon Infernal, to stun and proc First Strike Then we do a huge Chaos Bolt. That along with Conflagrate Conflagrate does about 50k damage for me at 229 ilvl. For the single target version, we equip the Odr, Shawl of the Ymirjar Odr, Shawl of the Ymirjar, which sadly won't work for AOE with Bane of Havoc We use CDs, Conflagrate, havoc into Chaos Bolt. A real simple combo that doesn't require toads! Hope you all enjoyed, and stay tuned for more!

Not that this isn't impressive because it is!  It's always been interesting to me, however, how what one-shot used to mean changed into what it is now.  A while back (I can't even remember how many years.  It's been a while) "One-shot" literally used to mean you got hit with one-shot and you were toast.  Over time somehow it changed into "several abilities in a finite amount of time before the player can react" is a one-shot.  Not a criticism by any means, just an observation.  I suppose I just find it interesting.

Sure but this actually IS a one shot (aside from that 1 guy at the start). He does more damage than those players had hitpoints total. The fact that there's a setup for it has nothing to do with it, one-shots just mean, as you said, 1 spell does damage to kill you from 100%-0% and that's what happens here (aside from that first guy). So I guess it should be called 1-shots 14 players, and the 15th sort of but not really technically! 😄

except it doesn't work, because it was fixed, and even the original oneshot required joining a raid to get buffed and the buff only lasts 3 minutes....so literally a useless skill and not really a useful oneshot skill

By today's standards it's most definitely a one-shot and not one I'd want to experience getting taken out by XD (though I guess you can't anymore).  Old School standards, however, not so much.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
