Blizzard have just announced that same-faction Battlegrounds will be enabled with the weekly reset!

Blizzard LogoSame-Faction BGs (Source)

Along with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we’re re-enabling same-faction Battlegrounds. A same-faction Battleground will now occur when an opposite-faction match cannot be made after a short time. We currently intend for this system to be in place for the rest of Burning Crusade Classic.

We’re also re-enabling the setting that restricts premade Battleground groups to a maximum of 5 players. We expect this to be a temporary measure. We’re investigating our options, and we’ll let you know more in the future about what our long-term plans are for pre-made Battleground groups.

Thank you very much!

This is honestly the correct decision. No-one should use pvp queue times as a factor when deciding which faction to play. The fact that some did is unfortunate but is outweighed by the needs of the many.

In retrospect Blizzard needed to take a more active role in managing faction ratios. This could have included strict gating at the server selection and character creation steps that would block the creation of Horde or Alliance characters depending on the ratio. I could even imagine offering sweetheart deals to guilds to transfer in order to maintain the balance.

The true answer to to take the most popular races, divide them by half, and assign them to each faction. /s

Longer queues are a result of people picking one faction over the other one. So there is a bigger player pool of players and people prefer that, even if queues are way longer.

There would be an outrage if they would just lock people out. They haven't done anything about imbalance on retail for years. So I doubt they would do something for BC classic, besides it might be dead quite soon like the other one. No one would move anyway, there is no benefit for any raiding guild to move to faction with low recruitment pool. There aren't enough players to maintain faction balance, people will converge where they can play together (that's why there is a demand for faction merge, at least from mechanical point of view, although unlikely for classic, just for current game).

ohh yeah would love that i mostly play undead and my wife mostly bloodelve cause the other horde races dont apeall to us that much but we have a very nice guild on horde side so switching is never an option.

after how nice and friendly the leaders of horde and the boy king are with each other i can really see that we are working together in raids and dungeons (dont really know how pvp would work lore wise) or if that doesnt happen a other very logical thing we cann see in reall life some gnomes or humans or undead just switch sides cause they got pisst of by some nobels or just because the other faction is paying a good price for informations thats some thing we dont see often most spys are just mages or rougs

First of all I want to say I dont play PVP that much so the actual change doesnt affect me that much, however, the side effects will affect me as a alliance player. Right now there are more hordes than alliance players, specially in pvp realms. currently there are only 2 decent alliance populated realms in english eu which is sad. While I do agree that choosing ur faction based on que time alone is silly never the less it is another incentive toward going for horde. people here are defending this and saying blizz should make moving to alliance more attractive, well this is the opposite of that. the very reason that you have long que times as horde is because you have more players queing, which is because of better racials (i am not saying that, the people are saying that by where they chose to do bgs). with this change there is 0 reason to go alliance if you are into pvp. realm imbalance WILL get worst for alliance then blizz have to scramble to find a solution for a problem they made like always 😞

No fun to see Blizzard jumping to this sad bandwagon. Guess within 1x year they'll also add this to simplified & lazy mode retail ver. as well. Yes there's tons more population, but never know about Blizz's decisions on these days. That's cause they've been doing many mind numbing moves like remaking paintings around beautiful Azeroth, changing npc names & other dumb crap :/ R.I.P. RP feels in Instanced PvP cause now you fight against brothers & sisters who you've allied with :(

One more reason not to adventure in semi TBC Classic :( Semi cause not much classic about it compared to Classic Vanilla re-release that came 2y ago. TBC's Re-Release shouldn't have come so fast & not with greedy level up char with real $ moves.

We have some hotfixes for BCC, featuring the infamous Kael'thas phase 3 threat bug, item restoration for disenchanted items and more.
      September 23 (Source)
      Burning Crusade Classic
Items that are disenchanted should now be available on the Item Restoration support page to self-restore, as long as the materials gained are still present. Creatures and NPCs Some missing NPCs around the world are now visible again. Dungeons and Raids Fixed an issue where enemies, such as Kael’thas Sunstrider and Lady Vashj, could wipe threat from their primary target after mind controlling players. Quests Fixed an issue preventing Druids in Flight Form from using Skyguard Bombs during the “Bombing Run” quest and using Skyguard Blasting Charges during the “Fires Over Skettis” quest.

Well, they've done it now, as the peaceful Naaru in the center of Shattrah has been provoked into violence! In a truly hilarious (and brilliant) series of events starting with a bug, players have managed to get the luminous A'dal to move from his pedestal and start a beat down on, well, an invulnerable Terokk.
First let's take a look at the hilarity on action, then we'll talk about just how exactly it happened (as spotted by BradBlondeBeard) :

So what the hell is happening? Well Terokk's Downfall quest is currently bugged so you can't actually kill Terokk once he uses his invulnerability shield (as a flare that removed it doesn't trigger. And, of course, players being players decided to use this to their advantage, as apparently Terokk also doesn't have a leash, they decided to bring him to Shattrah to see the sights. Except one of the sights was A'dal and he just started wailing on invulnerable Terokk. The kicker? If the player that brought Terokk in dies, the two NPCs will remain in an endless combat loot, since A'dal is ALSO invulnerable.

      Source: xNick98x.
Now THIS is creative use of game mechanics and whoever thought of it should get rewarded somehow! Also, this isn't the first time A'dal got his hands dirty, as he's been known to eliminate all comers ever since the original Burning Crusade:
As you can see, Terokk is VERY lucky to have his invulnerability shield! Is this the "eternal conflict" Malthael keeps going on about in Diablo?

We have some significant bans being handed out for the recent exploit of a bugged quest in Burning Crusade Classic, as players are reporting some pretty hefty forced time-off being given out by Blizzard! In addition to that, the attempted quick fix for the bug caused even more confusion.
The quest big itself was pretty simple and VERY obviously an exploit - normally you can get one Unstable Flask of the Beast in order to complete the quest, but due to the bug players could instead get an infinite amount. And of course plenty of players actually took those flasks and then sold them on the Auction House (or to a vendor)!
Elblasc reported receiving a 6 month ban after having taken and sold THOUSANDS of flasks!

Many other players chimed in and listed their suspension length and amount of flasks/gold received (also an important thing to note is that previous infractions might also have affected suspension length):
you sold hundreds didnt u xd i took 9 and had no issues - pm_me_ur_gold_cap
      ...
Made about 10gold... 24 hr ban. - alelock
      ...
Sold for about 200g to vendor and did about 10 filled mails to an alt. Banned til sept 20. - monstertugg
      ...
I made around 200g and got a week ban - Meeha
      ...
Thousands for me, 30 day ban. Were any of you the Shaman on Sulfuras last night? - AfflictedFox In case you were wondering, the flask vendors for 23 silver, so it was a pretty risky move for not a lot of reward. We don't exactly know how much the Auction House ones were selling for on the various realms, but we did see some go for around 3 gold.
Even more interestingly, the quick/temporary fix to the exploit was a very fast disabling of the method used to obtain the flasks, rendering the quest un-completable - which in turn caused other players to want to get the flasks from the Auction House so they can turn them in for the quest that way BUT the flasks were ALSO changed from BoE to BoP, making them useless for the quest!

In any case it's a pretty good lesson to learn in general - if something is clearly broken and you can benefit from it... maybe don't abuse it!

As the new phase arrived in Burning Crusade Classic, guilds immediately rushed into the two new raids and we have Tempest Keep already cleared by Salad Bakers , after the earlier Serpentshirne Cavern Vashj victory by Progress. Kael'thas has been defeated in only about an hour and 10 minutes after the patch/phase went live and we got the Classic World First! Let's take a look at the final boss, starting from the final face-off and skipping all the add stuff:

Meanwhile both Progress and BEEF BAR were already in Tempest Keep after having cleared Serpentshrine Cavern before the Kael kill happened and are racing for the overall first spot (although Salad Bakers could also snag it, as they're immediately headed to SSC, but it's a bit of a stretch).
Update: Progress managed to claim the overall win in the race, becoming the first guild to clear both SSC and TK (but got the final Kael'thas kill just a minute before BEEF BAR, who claimed second place)!
Here's the Lady Vashj World First by Progress in case you missed it as well:

As the new phase of Burning Crusade Classic arrives so the guilds rushed right into both raids and Serpentshrine Cavern has been cleared! Blizzard actually talked about how the raids were closer to their pre-nerf stages in a blue post today, but apparently they aren't that hard for the top guilds after all.
Lady Vashj has been taken down, with only the Lurker Below skipped, as Progress moved to the final boss under an hour after the Overlords of Outland phase/patch came up! Let's take a look at the Vashj kill:

The World second cam in a few minutes later, as BEEF BAR took the final boss down as well. Both guilds will be moving on to Tempest Keep now, so they can be the first/second to clear both raids. Kael'thas hasn't been killed so far, but it's coming soon as other guilds have already cleared a lot of the keep.
