You're correct - I looked into it further and, you're meant to be able to participate in non-ranked stuff, but it was disabled due to exploiters and never re-enabled, despite it being a "temporary" disable. Hi! So recently Stormblood was added to the available expansions in the free trial. The writer who created the page has left us since the original post, but I've gone ahead and updated the page myself. It should be accurate now.
