Many Key Questions About New World Server Transfers Answered

Recommended Posts

f3TcA5l.jpg

We have a compilation of developer answers to questions about how exactly the upcoming server transfer feature will work, including the nature of the free tokens, the "Full" server status, the possibility for regional transfers and more. The most imporant things to take away from the below answers are:

  • Free transfer tokens are 1 per account, with no time limit.
  • Regional transfers are coming in the future, after the first wave.
  • There will be an infographic with population stats updated daily.
  • There may be additional free transfers given out later.
  • Some "Full" servers will be opened up.

Amazon LogoServer Transfer Questions (Source)

Hey everyone,
We have answers from the dev team to many of the questions that we have pulled from this thread! You can find them below:

Q: How many times will we be able to transfer for free? Will we be able to pay for server transfers after using the free tokens?
A: The initial release includes one transfer token, which is single use. We will continue to monitor the server populations, and if transfers result in uneven distribution that causes queues we will issue new sets of tokens where needed.

Q: When will “full” servers open for transfer? Will there be any monitoring of these servers to see whether or not they should be opened/closed depending on the flow of transfers?
*A: We monitor full status on a daily basis with changes as recently as today. “Full” doesn’t indicate a server that always has queues, it indicates a server that during typical peak usage has a substantial queue. We will be relaxing Full status on many worlds when transfers start, to allow the most flexibility possible. After transfers have slowed down we will re-evaluate which worlds might still need the designation.

Q: Is there a potential for regional transfers to come in the future?
A: There is potential, yes, and we are working on it now. Cannot provide an ETA because it is a very different process, but when we realized we had created confusion on this, we felt we owed it to the community to find a solution.

Q: Will all members of a large company be able to transfer over? Do we have a cap of how many people can transfer over to a certain server?
A: There is no technical limit to the number of characters that can transfer to a server. We also have addressed an issue that made moving a Company difficult: starting with the release of Server Transfers, when the last person leaves a Company it will be treated as abandoned and the name will be available seconds later. Note: you should NOT rename your Company if you intend to transfer it. That will make the old name unavailable on a new server. Full emptying the Company so it is abandoned will free the name up for re-use.

However large Companies should consider the implications of moving as a group to a busy server; this could cause the server to be Full status after the move. We will warn a full day ahead of time on any Full status changes in the first week of Server Transfers being available so as to not surprise anyone with a status change.

Q: Are there any plans on adding new worlds to x region/world set/recommended language?
A: As New World continues to attract new players we will evaluate server populations and open new servers as necessary, including making sure there is always a non-Full option for supported languages. We’ll also merge servers if needed to provide the best game play experience - even both at the same time (new servers and merged servers) as conditions require.

Q: Is there a time limit/time frame players need to use this token by?
A: No, it is available permanently on the account until used.

Q: Will we be expanding server capacity in addition to server transfers?
A: We’re always interested in providing the largest capacity that provides the best gameplay environment. We’ll increase here, as long as we are sure it doesn’t degrade gameplay - as many observant players have noticed, we are already experimenting with that on some servers. Also, as time goes on the world of Aeturnum will get larger, and that would allow better balance room for even more players.

Q: Are the tokens 1 per account or 1 per character?
A: Tokens are one per account. If we find transfers have created an imbalance on particular servers, we can re-issue tokens for those affected.

Q: Will we be able to move within the same world set?
A: Yes, you are able to transfer your character to a different world in the same world set.

Q: For players who are unable to transfer their character to their proper region, will there be some sort of xp boost or compensation available?
A: We heard the feedback from those affected by this issue and started work on cross-region transfers based on it. Unfortunately this will not be in the first release of transfers, but it is coming as soon as we can get it completed.

Q: Will we be able to provide an infographic ahead of time to help companies and players on their server transfer plans?
A: Yes, we are releasing an infographic with the most up to date, relevant information along with the transfer feature to help our players decide on the world they wish to transfer to,. We will update it daily afterwards for as long as seems necessary.

Q: Why did we make character and company names global if we can’t transfer across regions?
A: As mentioned, we are actually working on transferring between regions right now, so having global names will prevent some confusion that otherwise would have occurred. Companies also will be able to transfer (after the last person leaves the Company on the origin server, the name will become available - this is being delivered with Character Transfer).

After transfers have been used by those most interested (particularly cross region), we will be considering whether to switch naming limitations to per-region.

Q: Will there be a way to determine faction demographics on a server before transferring?
A: There is no out-of-game way to achieve this currently. Transfers themselves as well as players choosing to change factions could change demographics considerably, so any sample taken ahead of time might be misleading.

Q: How will town projects function if they are not on the same town board?
A: Transferred characters can still turn in town project quests that are in progress.

Q: Can you open the window of when you can transfer for longer so that if you do unlock the locked servers it gives people chance to get in?
A: Tokens are permanent until they are used (one use per token).

Q: Do you remain in your faction or will you have a chance to go to a different faction? What if I have already changed factions once before transferring?
A: Your faction status will be the same after transferring.

Q: If we own a region on our current server, will that affect our ability to delete the guild, if deleting the guild is required?
A: No, you can still remove all members from a Company that owns a territory.

Q: Can we get an answer on the go with high pop servers and transfers, especially in regards to the cases where people, have a character on the high pop server they wish to join, but have been focusing on a lower pop server for playtime. Can we delete existing character and transfer to that server with no troubles as the population will stay the same?
A: It will still be necessary to check the potential Full status on the server - if it is Full, you won’t be able to transfer to it even if you delete a character already on the server. Full isn’t set by number of characters, it’s set based on peak queue experience. We will be relaxing many Full status servers when transfers are released, and we will provide a full day warning on any server changing to Full status for several weeks after transfers are released, to prevent surprise moments of a server switching to Full (should that be necessary).

Discover everything you need to know about Hardcore New World, including faster leveling, unlimited artifacts, and exclusive rewards, all starting on June 3, 2025.
It's official - New World's hardcore seasonal world will begin on June 3, 2025, and last until July 8, 2025, giving players plenty of time to max out a character and challenge some of the most difficult raids within the game for exclusive rewards. This marks the second seasonal world for New World: Aeternum, where players will be able to explore Aeternum and play the game with a major twist - this time being hardcore.
If your character dies during this game mode, they will be forever labeled as "Fallen", limiting the number of exclusive rewards you can unlock with that specific character (more details below). Additionally, players will come across other major twists while playing in this seasonal world, including the removal of the main story quest (MSQ), and replacing it with a much shorter questline that allows you to hit max level after approximately 6 hours, as well as allowing players to use as many artifacts as possible, greatly increasing the overall power most players are used to.
All major changes to this new seasonal world can be found below:
No Main Questline - We’ve built a new, expedited questline to follow. This questline will give you all the experience needed for your character to reach maximum level in approximately 6 hours. It will also introduce you to the new mechanic we’re using for progressing your character on this server: Azerite Tailings. Azerite Tailings - Azerite Tailings are an item that can be dropped from multiple different locations in the world and can be used to craft new types of inventory caches for yourself. These caches will be much faster to use for gearing up your character on this server than standard loot drops. These caches can provide everything you need for your characters (such as consumables, gear, and even materials for selecting perks on artifacts.) Artifacts Unlimited - On this server, you are able to equip as many artifacts as you would like. We don’t know exactly how powerful these can become, but we want to allow you to experiment in some new ways and try some new gameplay combinations that even we haven’t seen before. War has its own unique status effect. This status effect will provide a higher potential stacking on attributes after death (as well as a damage bonus), but it also reduces your armor and absorptions while active (this is intended to help balance out some of the potential defensive power artifacts can provide). Since this is a time-limited server, territory control is not the primary focus, so we wanted to give people an opportunity to experience the mode in a different way. Honestly, we’re hoping you will all go out into the field and bonk each other over the head with foam bats and cardboard tubes for a weekend. Death Status Effects - A new status effect will be present on your character when created on this server for tracking your Unfallen or Fallen state. This is our attempt at a different kind of hardcore experience. Characters who have not died will be considered ‘Unfallen’ and characters who have died will be considered ‘Fallen.' Instead of a traditional hardcore model, where your character is simply deleted on death, this status effect will stack up, granting 25 bonus attributes per stack. However, some challenges can only be completed in an Unfallen state. Group up with others to tackle these objectives and remain Unfallen, but don’t be afraid to keep going if you do Fall, you’ll be getting stronger and stronger. Earnable Rewards - You will be able to earn new rewards for your character by completing challenges in the Season Journey on this server. These new earnable rewards are Raw Orichalcite Stone, which allows you to craft any artifact you want (out of all the artifacts you do not currently own), and Runewood Resin, which allows you to craft any T3 trophy you want. There will also be new cosmetics and titles to earn throughout this experience. These rewards will not be claimable on your seasonal character and must be claimed on one of your primary characters. Important extra note about the Hardcore server - As the focus of this server is push the limit of characters to the max, including using full sets of artifacts in endgame content such as the Gorgon raid, players will be required to have the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion to participate.
Additional information (along with tips to help you along the way) can be found within the video below.
We wish you luck on your future hardcore adventures throughout Aeternum!

Take a closer look at some of the recent changes made to the leadership team for New World: Aeternum, and how this may impact the future of the game.
In the recent "Forged in Aeternum" video posted by New World: Aeternum, we were able to get a handful of our questions answered and also get a major update on the leadership team at New World: Aeternum.
Just 26 seconds into the video the question "Where is Scot Lane" was asked, which is a bit surprising to see the team be so upfront about it, but also appreciative as they were very transparent on the team. Scot Lane was previously the Game Director for New World: Aeternum, and when answering this question, the team shared that he is no longer in this role and has moved on to another project with Amazon Game Studios (likely the upcoming LOTR Online game they are working on, but not yet confirmed).
In his place was announced Katy Kaszynski, who has been highlighted in many previous developer update videos in the past and is a familiar face to the New World community. There were two additional members of the leadership team that were also highlighted, including Dan Henuber, Creative Director, and Joel Clift, Product Owner of Seasons and Systems.
Take a closer look at the full Q&A session below.
This video sheds more light on what to expect with future seasons of New World: Aeternum, and what we can expect to see over the next few months. We'll see you in Aeternum!

Experience the ultimate challenge in New World: Aeternum with the upcoming "Hardcore" Seasonal World — where danger is relentless, and only the strongest survive. Are you ready to prove your skill?
Speed. Strategy. Survival. These are the three key themes that describe New World: Aeternum's upcoming season, the "Season of the Divide". Approximately one month into this season, their will be an all-new season world that's temporarily opened up for players to truly test their skills - a Hardcore mode.
Within this hardcore server, players will begin in a "unfallen" state, gaining access to elite rewards if they survive without dying. Die once, and you will forfeit the ability to unlock the unfallen rewards as you accomplish the specific challenges. However, there's a twist - unlike other "hardcore" versions of games, your character will not be deleted upon death. Instead, they'll get buffed!
Characters that die within this season will lose their "unfallen" status, taking away the potential of receiving those unique rewards, but will also receive additional attribute points, allowing you to continue playing on the server, help your friends, and learn more about specific difficult battle mechanics.
The season 8 Hardcore seasonal world will only be available for a limited time and will launch in early June. More news regarding the official release date and potential rewards are coming soon.
To learn more about the upcoming hardcore seasonal world coming to New World: Aeternum, watch the video below.
