Community Expectations and Wishes for WoW 10.0

Recommended Posts

WoW's next expansion is getting announced later today so we're taking a look at some player comments on what they want, don't want, and expect out of 10.0!

More account wide friendliness, like reps and stuff like that
Do something about the best way of farming any rare drop is to just have an army of alts and kill that mob endlessly like MoP world bosses or the love rocket
Systems that don’t have artificial friction, like conduit energy, rotating corruption vendors, multiple rng layers etc
That’ll do it for me - KalistramMcleod
...
glyphs, cosmetic all day - WizardNipples69
...
Rated solo queue BGs. - S_l_M_P
...
A m+ set that you unlock with m+ rating, the same way you unlock the elite pvp set with arena rating. - Pumpergod1337
...
Account wide features, rep to start with, but whatever systems we have in the expansion being either fully or mostly unlocked on our alts when we work through them on our mains. - LazyBeast_Gaming
...
All this quality of life stuff that keeps getting added in the final patch of every expansion. Let's put that on release
- Squantoon
...
Cross Faction Guilds. I am excited for the limited cross faction available in 9.2.5 but in order for the system to actually benefit the constantly dying Alliance Mythic Raiding scene we need actual guilds. I know there will be the clunky workaround of making "sister guilds" and using the in-game communities feature but that seems like such a needless hassle and another reason for people to just stay Horde. - 666trampoline666
...
Single player content. Solo dungeon & raid encounters. Widened mage tower. Unique cosmetic rewards. Legendaries that feel legendary, not just orange pixels. Also going back to original talent tree and old itemization. Well that’s about it.
- Discopew
...
Dragon themed class/race is my dream
But some account wide accessibility for reps etc would be nice. - MagicMimic
...
The removal of borrowed power systems that are tied to forced gameplay systems no one wants to touch and which wouldn't have seen the light of day otherwise. If my character is max level and has the gear, I shouldn't have to unlock further mandatory power upgrades via quests or minigames like Torghast. Or at least make them account-wide.
Instead of a new class, fourth specs where it makes sense, such as an earth tank shaman, a ranged DPS paladin, or a warlock/mage healer. - marcopennekamp
...
A war effort like back in classic. Where ppl need to work together as a server to get something done! - uuske123
Perhaps it could be region wide. Didn't the armies of legionfall have something like that? - Kharzack
...
Player housing. More than anything. Also, more pet content. Yeah I know this isn't popular, but I'm hoping the mobile game is for pets, and that they take advantage of improving this old system instead of inventing some stupid new one like they always do. - scrubby_dog
...
More focus on endgame drip. Shadowlands transmogs sucked by and large in my opinion.
A transition away from big sprawling raids that a very small % of the player base touches to more horizontal progression
Single raid encounters (see: Onyxia, Gruul's Lair) as Seasonal content drip instead of large raid dumps. - theYetiDidIt
...
Class sets for every raid tier, that are unique in look and themed for the class. Not a generic look for the raid.
- InfiniteLlamaSoup
...
I liked the idea of Torghast, not necessarily the execution. Maybe something similar with actual gear and rewards. I play mostly solo and definitely do not need the good gear like raiders or m+, but something I can work towards without others. Something that progressively gets harder too. - Tsterjon
...
Less focus on the top 5% of raiders/players and more attention being payed to they players who can only log on for an hour or two a day. - GXNext
...
Wow included in xbox game pass. - Varkot
...

"We realized we went an entire expansion without killing off a horde leader, so we're going hogwild to make up for lost time" - BellacosePlayer

What are some of your wishes for the reveal and expansion in general?

1) A Storyline that makes sense and is coherent through the expansion.    I know I'm asking for a lot here...

2) Revisit old reputation/factions and make them viable for new things, even if just cosmetics or mounts.    Don't rename them to reset IE "Earthen Ring 10.0 subfaction guys", if I am already exalted because I played 15 years ago, hurray.

3) No more troll raids/dungeons with the same recycled troll graphics and "oh Hakkar is at it again..."

Warlocks being able to shift into a void layer, which lets hunt the lands for cool named warlock pets, instead of random name.

Void Shield for Shadow Priests (the yellow looks silly), Blood Mage healing spec, necromancy spec for warlocks, classes available on more races (I want a Vulpera Druid with fox forms to go with my Vulpera Shaman.) I’ll jump on the account wide rep bandwagon too. Having to refarm a rep for recipes on alts is annoying to the point that I don’t bother much anymore.

im 99.9% sure it wont happen but im really hoping the 4 micro class leak would be real it sounds great

But how would that work if class had only a tank or healer spec? Bad for soloing, only good for maining if you have a stable raiding guild (and one that's going to help you outside of raids). Not viable for majority of casuals. Sounds like too much effort to balance something that only few players would play.

We're in week 11 of the Sepulcher raid, so it's high time we switched our focus over to Mythic, with over 126 guilds having finished the raid at maximum difficulty. As we move to Mythic we're also taking a look at the individual boss charts, so you get a better idea of what's happening where (and we're also still covering Heroic at the end as well).
      Mythic
      95th Percentile
We don't have a comparison point for the high percentiles in Mythic, since it's the first week of the switch, but we can compare it to last week's Heroic chart. Destruction is the very top of the pile in Mythic (and you can read about why in last week's entry), both in the high percentiles and overall, but Frost DK is doing just as well as it is in Heroic, actually beating out Demonology in the higher difficulty. Marksmanship is also in a much better position here, and Retribution is especially benefiting from the increase in difficulty, as it's 8 spots higher than in Heroic!

95th percentile Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
We do have a direct week-to-week comparison in the all percentiles chart, and here we see Demonology actually climb up a spot and take 2nd place away from Survival. Retribution actually falls a little as Havoc takes its place in 9th and Windwalker pushes it out of the top 10, while Feral nose-dives down 9 spots towards the bottom.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Halondrus
Moving on to the individual bosses, Halondrus is where Enhancement shines most, closely followed by fellow melees Assassination and Feral.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Anduin Wrynn
Anduin isn't quite the main reason Destruction is doing so well, but he's definitely contributing, as Survival and Frost get their fill here as well.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Rygelon
The Destruction booster himself, as you can see Rygelon's Scouring Tithe interaction brings the Warlocks to the very top in the overall rankings, with the VERY few Feral Druids popping up to the top here as well.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      The Jailer
The Jailer is more in favor of the other Warlock flavor, as Demo is making its name here, while Ferals gather in a more respectable number to show that the Rygelon placement wasn't necessarily a fluke.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Heroic
While it's relegated to the bottom of the post, Heroic is still very relevant, with much higher numbers of players giving its data a lot of validity and credibility. This week we see a new No.1 in the overall bracket, as Demonology takes over from Survival and Shadow bumps Enhancement down one, with Balance doing the same to Marksmanship.

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.

As always, if you want even more info on a spec, you can check out our class guides here, for a DPS tier list you can go here, or for even more data, head on over to Warcraft Logs. You can also check out our Sepulcher raid guides.

After a long time of only being available via the Overwolf app, CurseForge has announced that it is now once again available in standalone form! The CurseForge addon manager app Alpha is now available and you can download it over on their site (but be careful to click the right link):

This arrives as a reaction to a prolonged period of some players voicing their dissatisfaction over the client only being available via Overwolf, and was revealed together with a larger announcement of the CurseForge API being released  (you can read the full version here), and here is the relevant section:
We take community feedback seriously. Many of the community members voiced their preference for a leaner approach to managing mods. We’ve taken this into consideration and developed a standalone version of the CurseForge app on Windows, based on Electron, which you can download here.
As with the Linux version, it currently supports World of Warcraft only. We plan to keep this version in feature parity with the Overwolf version in the future. Please note, this is fresh from the oven and currently on Alpha.
If you have any questions or feedback about this, please join our Discord and let us know.
This was initially spotted by scytherz over on reddit, and you can check out that thread for plenty of comments on the new app's functionality, relative light weight, and other details players have tested.

We're looking at a strange bug that affects some proto-drake mounts on live servers.
Many players are reporting issues with their proto-drake mounts on Reddit. The first report is from 5 days ago. The bug affects Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake, which for some reason, no longer flies in the middle of the screen, and its run animation is twice the speed of other proto-drake mounts.

Apparently, Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake is experiencing the same issues while Reins of the Ironbound Proto-Drake and Reins of the Rusted Proto-Drake work as they should.

The second report is from 3 months ago and showcases the strange mount animation. It claims that all proto-drake mounts except for those from Ulduar are affected by the bug.

Did you experience this strange bug on live servers?

Patch 9.2.5 appears to be the first update to the game where major story elements remain heavily encrypted. In the latest PTR update, Blizzard shipped an encrypted 9.2.5 splash screen, which is something they've never done before.
Players are prompted with a splash screen when they log in to the game for the first time when an update goes live. It shows you what's new in the patch. Here's the splash screen for Patch 9.2.

The splash screen for Patch 9.2.5 was shipped in the latest build, but it is encrypted and cannot be previewed. Maybe it has something to do with the mysterious Stormwind and Orgrimmar updates or the Forsaken (spoiler alert).
However, the splash screen text for Patch 9.2.5 is available for preview but contains no spoilers.
New in Season 4! Shadowlands Season 4 - Earn new rewards in Mythic Keystone dungeons and PvP. New Mythic+ Dungeons - Experience iconic legacy dungeons with Mythic affixes! Fated Raids - Return to Shadowlands raids for a new challenge and new rewards.

Reddit user nazranramlee noticed something interesting while visiting their local hospital in Malaysia. The TV was showing the Mists of Pandaria trailer on repeat.

Apparently, this isn't specific to just one hospital in the country.
Reddit user aimlessart saw the same trailer playing over and over in another hospital they have been visiting for over 6 years, claiming they both might have been set up by the same contractor who thought the Mists of Pandaria trailer looked visually appealing for entertainment purposes.
The contractor most likely never bothered to update the visuals again, which is why the TVs are constantly running the same Mists of Pandaria trailer while people wait in queue.
