Dragonflight Alpha: Hunter and Shaman Feedback: July 20th

Blizzard answered some questions about double talents in the revamped Shaman talent tree and Hunter's Trueshot in Dragonflight.

Hunter

Blizzard discussed in a blue post the Trueshot Hunter ability.

Trueshot is a massively weak major cooldown when compared to the likes of other 2 minute cooldowns such as Combustion or Vendetta

This is an interesting point of discussion. Cooldowns that are significant power swings, such as Combustion, often define your style of play. You likely need to combo in as many effects as possible to skyrocket up your damage in a short timeframe. Whether or not you get lucky with procs and whatever else in that window dictates a lot about your performance over the fight as a whole. You also start feeling much less effective outside of these damage windows, as you peak very high, and then go down into a lower state of throughput until the cooldown is available again.

Not every cooldown needs to be a significant swing. If Trueshot is made stronger, your average damage outside of Trueshot will likely go down to compensate. Should Trueshot be a big damage swing cooldown like Combustion? The current thought is no.

The points made about Precise Shots during the Trueshot window are valid feedback and is something we could work on to make better, but at the same time we’re also currently OK if some things like Precise Shot stacks are “wasted” during this window. Trueshot makes your gameplay feel significantly different while it is active, which is great. If the cooldown was changed to +20% critical strike chance, it remains effective and a good burst window, but doesn’t feel like you’re doing anything special other than getting a few more critical hits. That’s not to say that secondary stats or a percent critical strike buff are bad, it’s just different.

Shaman

Blizzard also responded to Shaman feedback and noted that double talents in the Shaman tree are intentional as the first talent grants you the ability while the second talent provides you with a second charge.

Is there two Healing Stream Totem talents because taking both is supposed to give you 2 charges?

there are currently two stormkeeper talents in the elemental tree one at the end of the tree as a choice node and one on the way to the choice node

The intent with these talents is that getting the first will grant you the ability, such as Healing Stream Totem, or Stormkeeper. Acquiring the second will instead grant you a second charge of these abilities, similar to how the live version of Echo of the Elements grants Restoration Shaman a second charge of Healing Stream Totem.

This may not currently be functioning, but that is the plan for these.

Loving the new Enh shaman tree. Especially the Feral Spirit build

I have some issues with it. But I like it overall. There are some nodes that are like, please for the love of god just take this out... lol. MY biggest issue is them still forcing us to still take Ascendance. Like at least move it to the class tree itself and give us a much more exciting ability. Maybe have unleash elements back but have it do some cool stuff with fire and ice instead?! I dunno, they could have easily done more with it.

I'm glad they're acknowledging the "not every spec needs to be focused around burst windows" philosophy. It makes sense for some specs but has been terrible for others (affliction, etc.)

Grimtusk Fishing Hole, one of the requirements to unlock Taivan, is available this week on live servers!
Players who are working on unlocking Good Boy's Leash probably know the Grimtusk Fishing Hole has not been available since the first week of Patch 10.2.6. However, it is available now for the whole week, so you can complete it to get credit towards Taking From Nature.

Head to the Fyrakk Assault area in Azure Span (59 34) and complete the Net Worth quest offered by Gruff Fisher.
If you can't see the quest chances are you don't have access to Ice Fishing.
I'm not really an avid fisher myself, but one player suggests you should have the Secret Fishing Spots  first before completing this quest, but those farming Taivan will possibly know.
Ice Fishing (available at Renown 6 with Iskaara Tuskarr) requires you to craft an Iskaaran Ice Axe. To do that, you must loot Pickaxe Blade at 19 24 in Azure Span. If you're using TomTom here are the exact coords where you'll find the item:
      /way #2024 19 24
Check the Wowhead comments section for more details.

Players on live servers are experiencing issues upgrading their legendary weapons to item level 502 after using the scale. Blizzard has acknowledged the bug and is actively working on a fix, though it may take some time to implement.

Just used my Scale to upgrade Fyr’alath for season 4 and I can’t upgrade it past 4/14 Awakened. The upgrade NPC believes it isn’t eligible.
We’re working on this as a priority issue. The fix is going to take some time to implement, however.
      Thank you for your patience.

Blizzard have clarified that the recent concern over addon limitations in Patch 10.2.7 is merely a bug and is being worked on.
      RP Addons (Source)
it’s looking like in 10.2.7 PTR the addon comms (something primarily used for addons like the insanely popular addon TRP3 used by Roleplayers) is going to be severely rate-limited server-side, making them effectively unusable. This is going to disproportionately affect the RP community and Blizzard should have communicated this much earlier in the development cycle.
The author of TRP3 has stated they have been looking for a solution but as of right now, there won’t be one come patch day which will kill the addon and many other addons as well. Blizzard, please roll back these changes!
We’ve identified the bug causing this issue on the PTR, and we’re actively investigating solutions to address it in a future build.

Blizzard is set to introduce modifications to addon communications in Patch 10.2.7 for World of Warcraft, with notable implications for role-playing (RP) addons.
Blizzard has now responded and confirmed the issue is a bug they're actively investigating.
The proposed adjustments will implement stricter server-side rate limiting on addon communications, essential for addons like Total RP 3 that support character role-playing and interactions, as highlighted by keyboardturn on Twitter.
Placeholder for tweet 1785049580230574093 The new rate-limiting measures are expected to slow down these addons, significantly increasing the time required to load profiles—from a few seconds to potentially minutes.
The update is designed to decrease server load and prevent misuse of addon communication systems. However, Blizzard has not provided explicit reasons for these changes, leading to speculation and concerns within the community regarding the lack of detailed communication and consideration for RP enthusiasts.

Khaz Algar hasn't been added to the world map yet, but Reddit user Santi433 has done us all a favor by showing what it would look like!
Positioned between Kalimdor and Pandaria, Khaz Algar is the new continent in War Within. Santi433 has extended the Azeroth map canvas to include this new continent.
