Find out more about the Dragonflight pre-expansion event in our latest post!

UPDATE: The pre-expansion patch is going live on October 25, 2022. The event is coming later on November 15. More details are available in our separate post.

Four locations on Azeroth will be periodically under attack by Primalist forces in the pre-patch event. The exact location is always displayed on the world map. There are four Invasion types -- earth, fire, water, and air.

Primalist Invasions are available in the following zones:

  • Northern Barrens
  • Tirisfal Glades
  • Badlands
  • Un'Goro

When you enter the area with an active invasion, you will see a progress bar called Elemental Protection. You must bring it down to 0 by defeating trash mobs in the location that have been imbued with power (mobs scaled up to level 60) and drop Primeval Essence Primeval Essences. This is a zone-wide effort and you must only be present in the area to see the bar deplete.

When the bar reaches 0, an Elemental Boss will become attackable.

The boss drops 15 Primeval Essence Primeval Essences that can be turned in for gear, a toy, and the boss also drops items which can be combined into an Heirloom Trinket.

Storm Vendors sell item level 252 gear and a toy named Bag of Furious Winds Bag of Furious Winds. The Horde Storm Vendor is located at the new zeppelin tower near Orgrimmar Docks. The Alliance Storm Vendor can be found in Stormwind Docks near the Boralus ship.

Every Elemental Boss has a chance to drop:

Combine all four to create Unstable Elemental Confluence Unstable Elemental Confluence (Heirloom Trinket).

You can queue up for Normal Difficulty Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr during the pre-patch.

Based on datamining (Against the Elements Against the Elements), we know there are four bosses you must defeat to be granted the pre-patch event Feat of Strength achievement.

Reminds me a lot of the cata prepatch event and the legion prepatch event.

While the post mentions the empowered mobs scale to 70, does that imply that lower level players can partake in this event and potentially use it to level up? Yeah, it'd be better to level using the 50% exp boost on live currently but people might want to level while the new talent system is live just to see how it feels.

UPDATE: Just checked, but the event has been disabled on the PTR.

I meant to say Level 60, not 70. Sorry about the confusion. I will check if the creatures scale for lower level characters.

It can be difficult to prioritize your daily and weekly goals whenever a new expansion releases. With the launch of Dragonflight, we've compiled a to-do list that you may want to check out!
Content Not Available Before Next Week's Maintenance
Before we dive into it, it is important to point out that the vast majority of content will not be available until next week's reset (week of December 6) to allow players to focus on leveling at their own pace. The following content will not be available until next week:
Epic-quality Dragonbane Strongboxes from the Siege of Dragonbane Keep event. Mythic Dungeon Difficulty Weekly quests: "Community Feasts", "Aiding the Accord", "Show Yer Mettle", the Valdrakken profession quests, weekly PvP quests for Honor. Grand Hunt Spoils (Uncommon, Rare, and Epic quality) Dragonflight Launch Week 1: To-Do List
Complete the Dragonflight Intro Quest leading up to the point where you unlock Dragonriding. It takes about 30 minutes when you start questing in the Waking Shores. Focus on collecting all Dragon Glyphs to unlock Dragonriding Talents that vastly improve your leveling experience. Focus on reaching Level 70 with your main character and completing the Dragonflight Campaign to unlock World Quests, Adventure Mode, and Renown.
When you unlock all three, focus on:
Increasing your Renown with the four Major Factions by completing World Quests and opening treasure chests. Running Heroic Dungeons to gear up your main character. Completing World Quests for gear upgrades. Levelling up your Professions. To-Do List for Alts on Dragonflight Launch Week
Don't forget to park all your alts in a rested area so they can start earning Rested XP. Log in to the game with your alts. The login after Dragonflight launches triggers Rested XP. Someone on Reddit mentioned you do not need to log in, but we cannot verify that at this time. Abandon all quests using the following macro. /run for i=1,C_QuestLog.GetNumQuestLogEntries() do C_QuestLog.SetSelectedQuest(C_QuestLog.GetInfo(i).questID); C_QuestLog.SetAbandonQuest(); C_QuestLog.AbandonQuest() end; Level up your alts using Adventure Mode. That about sums up the priorities for Dragonflight Launch Week 1. If we forgot about anything, let us know in the comments!

The Underlight Angler Artifact Fishing Rod from Legion is currently experiencing some issues with Dracthyr characters and the Fishing For Attention buff disappearing when you leave combat. Here's how you can fix both.
Dracthyr characters currently have issues with the Underlight Angler and upgrading it with Artifact Power. However, @stoppableforceprovides a handy macro that seems to fix the problem.
The second bug causes the Fishing For Attention buff to fall off whenever you get out of combat. The following macro temporarily solves the issue until Blizzard patches the buff to reapply automatically.

Here's two more tips/reminders for leveling in the new expansion, as these focus mostly on alts or for those that will be leveling multiple characters simultaneously (or those that have a lot of gold laying around). You could even be leveling from 60 to 66 in 30ish minutes, but would have to expend a lot of crafting resources.
The first one is an oldie but a goodie, as Slashzor308 pointed out you should be logging in to your alts  after the Dragonflight launch, to get that rested XP bar going again! As you know, when a new expansion drops all characters get the new levels added and ready to be filled with experience, but you have to log in to each character to get that rested XP going.
How soon you need to do that depends entirely on when you're planning on playing these other characters, as it takes a while for the full rested XP to gather up - you gain 5% of your current level in bonus XP per 8 hours logged off in an inn or capital city, or per 32 hours logged off elsewhere. The cap is at 150% of your current level in bonus XP, and you can read more about the rested XP system here.
Update: the below method seems to have been nerfed, as the bonus XP for crafting was significantly reduced.
The other, slightly weirder tip is potentially much more significant, as you could be gaining XP extremely fast while using your professions. Now, this one is from about two weeks ago on the beta, so it's not 100% certain it will work on live, but considering it's a pretty expensive way to level, it just might work. Basically the new profession system brings a lot of XP for crafting, and with enough mats you can speed through the first 6-ish levels very quickly. Here's the full post:
You can find the new scaled down Dragonflight XP tables here, and you can also check out our leveling guides for each spec for general tips, builds and more.

We have a very detailed leveling guide to take a look at, as Mr_Roguery took a lot of time to make a document with all the tricks and optimizations to get to level 70 in the most direct way possible. Roguery goes through each hub, main quest, side quest and offers basically a speed walkthrough of the quests, noting where to go and what to do, as well as adding some tips in for good measure.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for something lighter and more general, you can also check out our own leveling guides, which include builds for each spec, heirlooms,  as well as an overview of the questing,

        A sample from the document.
This is a very long document, so if you're just looking for ways to level faster, this isn't it - but if you want to plan your leveling ahead of time and know what to expect and what to do, where the Dragonriding glyphs and everything else is, as well as some recommendations for fun and cool quests,  you're in the right place!

An Alliance Druid with a 1 million absorb shield has invaded Durotar, in Rextroy's latest video.
The latest Rextroy video revolves around a Druid with a 1,000,000 absorb shield that is basically invincible as long as there are enough Orcs to feed on.
        Background Information
This combo was originally told to me by Lunabuna (ßêâr-Tichondrius), I had thought about it, but a lot of people pointed out a 30% max HP cap on the shield from Ursoc's Fury Remembered.
But Lunabuna sent me some clips showing how they obtained a massive 1.2 million shield on the legendary!
I tested the legendary to see what caused it sometimes to give a cap and sometimes ignore it. The first instance of the shield being granted to you appears to have no cap at all! But every future shield refresh will be capped at 30%. That means every bleed tick from Thrash or if you hit many people with the initial hit.
This means we couldn't use the scaling bug to turn immortal efficiently since people will be all around us when we do a "raid boss" type video. I thought we could try it with different charge abilities to get away from enemies, but it would be quite limited and only last as long as we have low-level NPCs to charge to.
This changed in the pre-patch when the legendary was turned into a talent. It has a very similar effect, but it also includes MAUL, which is purely a single target ability!
This solved every issue we had! Now we can stack up horde-tagged NPCs that the horde won't be able to do anything about! And use them to feed us a 500k - 1 million absorb shield whenever we needed!
Of course, it isn't uncounterable. A mind control will screw up the combo since the NPCs will disappear from us (can be solved if you teamed up with another Alliance to keep the orcs in combat) or if you get stunned at the same moment as you try to refresh the shield.
We have to cancel aura the current shield to refresh it, since, otherwise, it gets nerfed from 500k to about 30k. This is the same frame that horde can stun us to get us stuck with no active shield!
It was really lucky that I decided to film this when I did, I was originally going to wait for the 40% Maul buff for a bigger shield, but that was the same hotfix that also removed the shield scaling against low-level NPCs! About 1-2 days after gathering the footage...
I hope you all enjoyed the video and have a great Dragonflight launch!
