Blizzard highlighted improvements coming to Rated Solo Shuffle with next week's maintenance and Patch 10.0.5. The updates include more severe punishments for leavers, who will lose rating upon leaving a Solo Shuffle, and more.

Happy New Year champions!

Before the holidays, we posted an update about future improvements that we’re working on for Rated Solo Shuffle, and we want to provide additional information on those updates. For additional information about Rated Solo Shuffle, please refer to the FAQ about Rated Solo Shuffle that was previously posted.

Coming with Weekly Restarts

Next week, we will make an update so that leaving a match will impact both Matchmaking Rating and Current Rating. We’ve received a great deal of player feedback indicating that losing only current rating has not been enough of a deterrent to leaving, and leaving is highly disruptive to the Solo Shuffle experience.

10.0.5 Improvements

We have several changes coming in 10.0.5 to improve how our system handles players who leave matches:

  • Rating will be calculated per-round in games with leavers.
    • This has been a recurring point of feedback that we agree with. The format of Solo Shuffle is intended to have all 6 rounds completed, as there can be composition or skill imbalances between individual rounds. Now, when rating is calculated for incomplete matches (matches with leavers), gains and losses will be scaled linearly based on the number of rounds completed.
  • Matchmaking Value for each player in a match will be displayed on the scoreboard.
    • We want to provide additional visibility to matchmaking. Matches are made based on the matchmaking rating of players, not their current rating. When a player enters a match, we determine the expected performance of players in the match based on player matchmaking rating (MMR). We take all the rounds into account, considering who was on each side and who won, so it matters which specific rounds the player wins, and not just the total number of rounds won, in calculating impact on MMR. We hope this helps players to better understand the matches they’re placed in, as well as rating changes of individual players based on the results of the match.

  • A warning prompt will display the penalties for leaving if a player attempts to leave a match.
    • If a player attempts to leave a match in progress, they will be prompted with a warning that indicates the repercussions of leaving including penalties and forfeiture of rewards. The warning will have a 5 second countdown and the player will be required to hit ‘Accept’ to leave. Our intent with this change is to make the leaver punishments more visible, as well as requiring additional acknowledgement from the leaving player.

Players who leave excessively will be subject to account review and suspensions, as abandoning matches repeatedly is a violation of the terms of service via exploiting functionality to the detriment of the game environment and the intended player experience.

Beyond 10.0.5

Looking to the future, we’re actively discussing options we might take to incentivize more healers to queue for Solo Shuffle to reduce the queue time for the damage role. This includes ways to make Solo Shuffle gameplay a more fun, rewarding experience for healers. We do not have anything to share about that right now, but in addition to leavers, it’s a foremost concern for the team.

We’re also looking into improving the UI further for both those in-queue and those who are about to queue.

As a team, we’re excited about Rated Solo Shuffle and we’re looking to iterate and improve on it in future patches. Your feedback has been valuable and greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

They do that and I’ll unsub! I’am not one of those ppl that leave after a few wipes. I was in a ruby 14 yesterday and was on the second boss about to time the hell out of it, and damn healer and rogue kept dying to rolling magma. After 3 wipes I knew the last boss was gonna be even worse so I left, I didn’t need any gear in there and wasn’t gonna spend a hour wiping on bosses for nothing!

Did you by chance try to educate them of the mechanics they were struggling with?

Educate in 14? It's a challenge mode if other fail too much its legit too leave the objectif it's too be better you win point from finish the donjon if they don't have the level they don't deserve the point. They go 13 or lesser until they have the level.

Yeah... no. I have tried myself in a +2 on my new Prot Warrior with a 373ilvl score in Ruby LP. As a tank, I hit 29k dps. 1st place. 74 interupts. 2nd place is a Fury War with 24k dps and 3 interupts. 3rd is a MM hunt with 13k dps, 14 deaths, 0 dispels and interupts. 4th was a mage with 6.7k dps with 0 interupts and 0 spellsteals and 17 deaths. We ended the run with 31 deaths and barely timed it.

Tried to educate, tell them what tranq shot does, spellsteal, counterspell, and the VERY OBVIOUS MECHANICS of not aggroing everything around and fire being bad. All dps were ilvl 394. Oh yeah, both hunter and mage obviously got the loot too.

I totally understand your reasoning. And I offer one simple solution. Penalty for leaving before timer reaches 0. After depletion it's whatever. But there should be some reward for people who stayed because not completing a key is literally a waste of time. There is no reward. Spending 40 minutes on a dungeon to get nothing at all is the worst thing. At least give people some valor or something

People actually trying to make the argument that leaving a Solo Shuffle match is the same as leaving a M+ because of people wasting your time when solo shuffle is 100% you 🤡🤡🤡

Definitely the same people not putting 'Not timed' / 'Weekly' in the description and expect it to be timed with a free carry. If you don't put that at the least I will leave after 2 wipes as a general rule unless it's in the back-end of the run.

I think both sides of this have a point.

Ditching on a group in M+ shouldn't just be about leaving;  in fact a group agreeing eff-this-key and disbanding and then regrouping outside and doing some other dungeon is in my mind utterly legit.

But pulling together folks for a key and then someone yoinking around about it...   I'm not sure how well Blizzard's AI can be trained to spot the difference between someone hoping to poke a talent point the right direction, and someone AFKing for a sandwich because they think they'll be freakin carried.

The latter's no fun even for the carry IMO, unless they're some sort of narcissist.

But yeah, past maybe what, 4? 5?  If you can't manage the extra pain it's throwing at you, you do miss the timer and the key dials back on you..... doesn't it?

--------

I admit limited knowledge in this space and MASSIVELY scrambled.   Someone surprised me with a +4 and I did / we did lots better than I thought (much pain on the worst boss, madhouse success on the last one).   In the previous xpac someone invited me "to mythic" and I thought they meant m0 and I said it's their call but I've never been in that dungeon.

A. they thought I meant THIS ALT had never been in there, and figured it'd be a glorious fun way to get it some bonus gear.
B. it literally never occurred to them there'd be a player that late in an expansion who wouldn't yet have done that dungeon.

---------

The queue system also has no useful way to score player experience or even attack-methods in order to get compatible players together.   They seem to feel everyone's here for the Olympics or too bad.   In mythic plus I think that's fine as It Is The Way.   For the other queues everything is a mess.

I didn't pretend it definitively solved anything, but was simply asking if they at least tried. Glad to hear you did.

Blizzard has added Glyph of Jab for Monks in the War Within, making Tiger Palm strike your target with your equipped weapon!
We've got some great news for all Monk players out there. In the War Within expansion, Blizzard has added Glyph of Jab that makes Tiger Palm strike your target with your equipped weapon, instead of your fists.

In the past, Glyph of Jab was a minor glyph used by monks, designed to ensure that the Jab ability was executed with hands and fist animations even when non-fist weapons were equipped. You will find more details here.

When we compare War Within level up chapter numbers with Dragonflight zones, the expansion shipped with a total of 15 level-up chapters spread across 4 zones:
Waking Shores had 5 campaign chapters. Ohn'ahran Plains shipped with 4 campaign chapters. Azure Span had 4 campaign chapters. Thaldraszus shipped with 3 campaign chapters. Max-Level Campaign

Blizzard have shared this week's Rogue changes, as well as plans for future adjustments to Fatebound and Trickster Hero trees.
      (Source)
      Greetings Rogues,
This week’s Alpha build includes many changes to Class and Spec talent trees, including a handful of positional swaps, tuning changes, and a few new and redesigned talents.
Feedback about these changes is welcome, so please post here with any notable experiences or opinions from your play in the Alpha test.
More change will be coming over the next few weeks, focused primarily on hero talents. Deathstalker is still lurking in the shadows and will be revealed when it’s ready (sometime in the next few weeks).
For Fatebound, more completed talents will be rolling in over time, and we have also been following gameplay and written feedback which will be cause for iterations to existing talents.
For Trickster, we’ve been following all of your feedback, and it has generated significant internal discussion. While the core pieces will remain in place (Unseen Blade, the Fazed debuff, and a grand finish in Coup de Grace), we expect to revisit the gameplay that fuels this engine, and most notably move away from Feint being a primary applicator of Unseen Blade. Unexpected randomly-timed procs of Unseen Blade have also proven to cause trouble and are being similarly reconsidered, in addition to minor updates for other talents.
Thank you to those who have played the Alpha and spent the time to share experiences and opinions so far. Keep it coming!
And here are this week's changes:
      (Source)
ROGUE New Talent: Shadowheart – Leech increased by 3% while Stealthed. Acrobatic Strikes has been redesigned – Auto-attacks increase auto-attack damage and movement speed by 1% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 10%. Developer’s note: Acrobatic Strikes no longer increases the range of melee attacks. We are revisiting increased melee range talents across the game, and most are being removed. Default melee range has increased since these talents were originally created, allowing specs with increased range to attack from well outside where it appears they should be able to. Cut to the Chase moved from Assassination talent tree to baseline all specs, triggering from Envenom/Dispatch/Eviscerate. Vanish’s guaranteed stealth duration now 1.5 seconds in PvP combat (base 3 seconds). Tight Spender now reduces Energy cost of finishing moves by 6% (was 10%). Subterfuge is now a 2-point talent, effect duration 3/6 seconds. Some talents have moved locations. Without a Trace moved from Subtlety to Class tree in capstone location, replacing Shadow Dance. Nightstalker has been removed. Assassination New Talent: Rapid Injection – Envenom deals 10% increased damage while Envenom’s effect is active. Serrated Bone Spike has been redesigned – (Passive) Prepare a Serrated Bone Spike every 30 seconds, stacking up to 3. Rupture spends a stack to embed a bone spike in its target: Deals Physical damage and Bleed damage every 3 seconds until the target dies or leaves combat. Refunds a stack when the target dies. Generates 1 combo point plus 1 additional per active bone spike. Serrated Bone Spike initial damage reduced by 24% and damage over time damage reduced by 9%. Improved Garrote effect duration increased to 6 seconds (was 3 seconds). Indiscriminate Carnage effect duration reduced to 6 seconds (was 10 seconds). Kingsbane damage bonus per poison application now has a stated cap at 1000% from 50 stacks (was 1980% at 99 stacks). Kingsbane base damage over time increased by 6%. Developer’s note: Kingsbane was originally intended to be uncapped, but abilities and talents introduced in the Dragonflight expansion allowed players to reach its previously-unreachable hidden cap. Increasing or removing the cap in the current environment would reinforce poor gameplay outcomes and continue to constrain talent options, so a lower cap is being introduced with the intention of having Kingsbane remain a valuable component of any build that includes it, but not by being required as every build’s all-important main character. Sepsis has been removed. Outlaw Ace Up Your Sleeve now grants 4 combo points when triggered (was 5). Mastery: Main Gauche damage increased by 24%. Adrenaline Rush has been updated: No longer increases global cooldown recovery rate by 25% while active. Now increases global cooldown recovery rate equal to your Haste while active, up to 25%. Now increases Energy regeneration by 50% (was 60%). Count the Odds effect now has base chance 10% (was 8%) and duration 8 seconds (was 5 seconds), but no longer doubled while Stealthed. Underhanded Upper Hand no longer affects Slice and Dice duration and no longer grants 3 seconds of Subterfuge duration (Stealth ability use). Crackshot’s Dispatch effectiveness reduced to 50% (was 75%). Thief’s Versatility now increases Versatility by 3% (was 4%). Some talents have moved locations. Sepsis has been removed. Subtlety Premeditation has been redesigned – After entering Stealth, your next combo point generating ability generates full combo points. Invigorating Shadowdust now reduces cooldowns by 10/20 seconds (was 15/30 seconds). Shadow Dance moved from the Class talent tree to Subtlety talent tree. Shadow Focus now reduces costs by 5%. Some talents have moved locations.
