When Do Mounts Unlock in Diablo 4?

Recommended Posts

Clipboard01.jpg

Players have been a little concerned about when exactly mounts would come into play in Diablo 4, as a recent official article stated that we'd have to wait until at least one character has completed the main quest to be able to ride around Sanctuary, but that turned out not to be the case.

Blizzard have since updated said article, stating that mounts will, in fact, unlock after a specific quest during the campaign. While that doesn't sound very specific, and you might think that the quest could be towards the end of the campaign anyway, considering the way Blizzard President Mike Ybarra responded to a report by Kotaku quoting the original and outdated article, it's safe to assume we'll be seeing mounts significantly sooner:

Ybarra also clarified the above (now deleted) tweet:

And here's the updated part of the article:

Unlocked through completing a questline as you progress naturally through the main story campaign, Mounts have an assortment of customization options available to them, such as different types of Mounts, Armor, and Trophies. An example of this is the Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy reward that can be earned from the upcoming Server Slam. These adornments will transform your trusty ol’ steed into one hell of a warhorse. Mount Trophies can be attached to the flank or saddle of your horse. There are dozens of Trophies to be found in Sanctuary.

Once a Mount is unlocked, it can be used in all game modes for any and all characters the player creates.

He did it again! Wudjio is back on the Diablo 4 Server Slam this weekend, pushing for the ultimate achievement: a solo kill of the World Boss Ashava. He had already done it during the last two beta weekends, but players were level 25 then and had a 300% buff to legendary item drop rates!
That made this particular achievement especially great, as many players have been complaining about just how much harder the boss now is. This is in part due to the lower level cap, but there were also many tuning changes to the classes affecting their power.
And if that wasn't enough for you, here's another one, from DeadgeRogue:
And another, and this one isn't even a Rogue, as Alkaizer took the boss down on his Barbarian. You can check out the clip here.
While you may not be able to solo the boss yourself, you can definitely find more players to help. You can also check out the boss spawn times here as there’s only around two more days left to get that exclusive mount trophy!
Wudjio even got a mention by Diablo 4 Community Manager PezRadar!

If you’re looking to defeat Ashava during the Diablo 4 Server Slam to earn the Beta-exclusive mount trophy, here you will find the exact spawn times for the world boss.
      Where Does Ashava Spawn?
Ashava spawns in the bottom right corner of the map, as shown in the screenshot below.

The world boss will spawn 9 times during the Server Slam with each spawn being up for 15 minutes. A Reddit user has created a useful cheat sheet with localized spawn times for your region.

Many players have been complaining about the nerf to Necromancers since the previous beta phase, with the weakness and very quick deaths of skeleton skills being the primary concern. However, we just heard that skeletons are in the process of getting buffed right now, as Community Manager PezRadar just announced:

      Hi all -
The team has just deployed a hotfix for the Diablo IV Server Slam that will be addressing some of the feedback we’ve seen regarding Necromancer pets and their survivability. This is a backend change so users will not need to download a new update. The hotfix will take a few hours to deploy to all users.
Just a reminder, the Server Slam test will be ending at 12:00PM PDT on Sunday. Thanks again to everyone who has logged in over the weekend to help test our servers prior to the launch of Diablo IV.
