A Live Letter for FFXIV Mobile was released on Bilibili, revealing brand-new information about the upcoming mobile game! Find out more about the 16 dye layers, unique dodge mechanics for all classes, and more!
Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is set up to be a feature-rich adaptation of the acclaimed MMORPG, with recent insights from a Live Letter livestream on the FFXIV Chinese Bilibili account, revealing more on the upcoming FFXIV mobile game.
This version aims to bring the world of Eorzea to handheld devices, with a range of new features, reimagined content, and deep customization options that set it apart from the main PC and console versions.
      Release Timeline (China)
The official roadmap for FFXIV Mobile's launch in China has been clearly outlined. The game is set to begin Closed Beta 2 on May 23, 2025, followed by an Open Beta in June 2025, and culminating in a full Chinese release on August 23, 2025. Although there is no confirmed timeline for the global version, it's expected to arrive soon after the Chinese launch.
      General Gameplay Details
FFXIV Mobile introduces several quality-of-life enhancements designed to make Eorzea more accessible on mobile devices. An auto-pathing system will allow you to navigate to quests and FATEs effortlessly, though it notably does not auto-complete content.
The game is developed by LightSpeed Studio, with Square Enix providing oversight to make sure the quality remains, and it fits the main game's tone.
      Enhanced Customization: 16 Dye Layers
One of the standout features of FFXIV Mobile is its massively upgraded glamour and dye system. You can now customize gear with 16 individual dye channels per item, far surpassing the two available in the retail version.
This allows for deep personalization of sleeves, feathers, petals, and more. The dye interface is intuitive, letting you dye all at once or per piece, providing incredible freedom in crafting unique looks.
This feature was showcased with detailed, multi-layered glam sets that received high praise from viewers. However, due to engine limitations, this is unlikely to make its way into the main game.
Reworked Coil of Bahamut – Turn 1
The Binding Coil of Bahamut Turn 1 has been entirely reimagined for mobile. Gone are the elevation mechanics and traditional raid trash!
The fight now begins directly at the boss in a simplified, flat arena. Key fight adjustments include interruptible mechanics, a reworked slime/puddle feeding system, and new tank swaps, split boss phases, and back/front cleaves.
To add to the challenge, the boss can absorb puddles or slimes to regain health. This redesign is intended to fit modern raid pacing while still providing a satisfying challenge.
      Revamped Combat Mechanics
Combat in FFXIV Mobile gets a new twist with the addition of a dodge button for all classes. On a 15-second cooldown, each job features its own unique dodge animation.
While it's not yet clear if it grants invincibility frames or just added mobility, it promises to add a new layer of strategy to fights.
The game also introduces dynamic class mechanics, such as the Paladin's gauge, which now builds through auto-attacks and blocking, offering more interactive and visually engaging combat.
      Comprehensive Player Statistics
FFXIV Mobile includes a helpful player statistics panel that provides detailed metrics like distance traveled, time played, and more. This allows you to track your adventures with a greater level of detail.
      User Interface Overhaul
The mobile adaptation introduces a reworked UI for combat, specifically tailored for touchscreens. Abilities are accessible via an intuitive layout, maintaining strategic depth while optimizing for mobile play.
      Monetization Concerns
LightSpeed Studio has emphasized that FFXIV Mobile will not feature gacha mechanics. Microtransactions are expected to be minimal and fair, with a focus on long-term player engagement rather than short-term monetization. However, some skepticism remains until Closed Beta 2 provides further information about this.
Initial impressions suggest that FFXIV Mobile is not just a port but a full rework, with major UI and customization upgrades that could set a new standard for mobile MMOs.
It also raises a lot of questions concerning the features added for the mobile version, that are still inexistent in the original version on PC and consoles. More information will most likely be shared after the Chinese Closed Beta on May 23, 2025, so stay tuned for more soon!

The new Cosmic Exploration activity in FFXIV brings a fun mini-game with it, but is it really worth spending your Lunar Credits? Here is what you need to know!
The latest addition to Final Fantasy XIV is Cosmic Exploration, a brand-new lifestyle activity introduced in Patch 7.2 with the Dawntrail expansion. Much like the Ishgard Restoration before it, Cosmic Exploration is a community-focused feature where players work together to progress and upgrade a new zone, all while earning special rewards.
But be warned, it's a time investment! You'll spend several hours crafting and gathering inside the zone, completing tasks like Stellar Missions, Mech Ops, and Cosmic Research. If crafting and gathering aren't your favorite parts of the game, you might be wondering: is it actually worth the effort for the rewards?

      What Makes It Worth It?
If you enjoy collecting rare mounts, minions, and unique cosmetics, then yes, Cosmic Exploration is absolutely worth your time.
By participating in the activity, you'll earn a new currency called Lunar Credits. These can be spent at the Cosmic Fortune, a special reward system that works like a spinning prize wheel. Every spin costs 1,000 Lunar Credits and gives you a chance at valuable items.

When you spend your credits, a window will pop up showing two different wheels, each displaying a selection of possible rewards. If you're lucky, one of the wheels may turn into a special "rare" wheel featuring better prizes, including the highly desired carrot prize (the best possible reward on that wheel).
The system is random, though. Sometimes you'll land something amazing, other times, not so much. Some wheels only have two options, which can increase your chances of getting something good. There's also a chance for a Stellar Opportunity to appear, which grants you another spin with an upgraded wheel full of even better rewards.
      What Can You Win?
Some of the rarest and most valuable items include:
Vacuum Suit Identification Key (a mount), Cosmosuit Coffer (cosmetic outfit), Micro Rover Minion
If you're a collector or just love trying your luck with fun in-game systems, Cosmic Fortune might be exactly what you're looking for.

Your ultimate guide to Final Fantasy XIV Cosmic Exploration: From unlocking the feature to mastering rankings and tools, here is everything you need to reach the stars!
The Final Fantasy XIV Cosmic Exploration is finally here, and we've got you covered with a fully updated guide!
Cosmic Exploration is the latest Lifestyle content introduced in Patch 7.21 of Dawntrail. It functions similarly to the Ishgard Restoration: Players work together to develop and upgrade a shared zone while earning a variety of rewards.
It's also a great way to level up your crafters and gatherers, from level 10 all the way to 100! In order to access the zone, you first need to complete the Endwalker Main Story. For more details, take a look at our Cosmic Exploration guide here!
This content has also its own unique rules and mechanics that differ from the rest of the game, including:
No mounts allowed A new sprint ability: Stellar Sprint Unique duty actions Modified spiritbonding system You will also gain access to an Exotablet, which works similarly to the Island Sanctuary tablet. It allows you to track your score, progress, credits, and activate Stellar Missions all in one place.

As you explore, you'll earn two types of currency: Cosmocredits and Lunar Credits:
Cosmocredits can be spent on glamours, minions, dyes, and more. Lunar Credits are used for Cosmic Fortunes and Mech Ops. Cosmic Exploration also introduces the Cosmic Tools: Dawntrail's crafting and gathering relic tools. These start at level 10 and are upgraded over time to i720, gaining unique effects along the way.
Much like the Ishgard Restoration, the zone features a ranking system based on three types of contribution:
Missions completed as a Disciple of the Hand or Land Participation in Mech Ops Server-wide Projects (similar to large-scale FATEs that upgrade the region) You can find a real-time Ranking Period tracker in our guide, so you will always know when it's active.
And of course, you have a chance to earn exclusive rewards, including from the Cosmic Fortune — a roulette-style system that lets you roll for rare and valuable items!

For everything you need to know, including how to unlock Cosmic Exploration, how the systems work, details on Cosmic Tools, rewards, Stellar Missions, a real-time ranking period tool, and much more, check out our full guide here:
