Take a closer look at this holiday-themed event coming to New World: Aeternum, which introduces new rewards like limited-edition skins, furniture, crafting materials, emotes, and more!

Winter is coming to Aeternum, and so is a new season event known as the Winter Convergence Festival, which will be starting on December 10, 2024. This seasonal event transforms Aeternum into a winter wonderland, where you'll partake in festive quests, collect rare items, and truly embrace the spirit of giving.

In order to participate in the Winter Convergence Festival, players are encouraged to be at least level 25 to start the event-specific quest chain, and to be at least level 60 to experience the full list of activities and challenges this event will offer.

Below is a sneak-peak at some of these event-specific activities coming to the game:

  • Gift Piles, Gift Sacks, and Lost Presents: Players will be able to collect gifts that have been scatted throughout Aeternum. When you collect them, you can exchange them for Winter Tokens at Holiday Huts, providing you more currency to be event-themed items!
  • Winter Warrior: A new world boss (the Winter Warrior) will begin spawning throughout Aeternum. You'll need to rally together with a group of 20+ players to take this open-world boss down, and reap the rewards of Winter Tokens, Dark Matter, and more!
  • Gleamite Meteors: Experience the stunning Gleamite Meteor showers that will start happening throughout the middle of the night in Aeternum. After a Gleamite Meteor shower occurs, you can mine the meteors to pick up a unique resource known as Gleamite Shards, which you can exchange for additional Winter Tokens.

Discover everything you need to know about Hardcore New World, including faster leveling, unlimited artifacts, and exclusive rewards, all starting on June 3, 2025.
It's official - New World's hardcore seasonal world will begin on June 3, 2025, and last until July 8, 2025, giving players plenty of time to max out a character and challenge some of the most difficult raids within the game for exclusive rewards. This marks the second seasonal world for New World: Aeternum, where players will be able to explore Aeternum and play the game with a major twist - this time being hardcore.
If your character dies during this game mode, they will be forever labeled as "Fallen", limiting the number of exclusive rewards you can unlock with that specific character (more details below). Additionally, players will come across other major twists while playing in this seasonal world, including the removal of the main story quest (MSQ), and replacing it with a much shorter questline that allows you to hit max level after approximately 6 hours, as well as allowing players to use as many artifacts as possible, greatly increasing the overall power most players are used to.
All major changes to this new seasonal world can be found below:
No Main Questline - We’ve built a new, expedited questline to follow. This questline will give you all the experience needed for your character to reach maximum level in approximately 6 hours. It will also introduce you to the new mechanic we’re using for progressing your character on this server: Azerite Tailings. Azerite Tailings - Azerite Tailings are an item that can be dropped from multiple different locations in the world and can be used to craft new types of inventory caches for yourself. These caches will be much faster to use for gearing up your character on this server than standard loot drops. These caches can provide everything you need for your characters (such as consumables, gear, and even materials for selecting perks on artifacts.) Artifacts Unlimited - On this server, you are able to equip as many artifacts as you would like. We don’t know exactly how powerful these can become, but we want to allow you to experiment in some new ways and try some new gameplay combinations that even we haven’t seen before. War has its own unique status effect. This status effect will provide a higher potential stacking on attributes after death (as well as a damage bonus), but it also reduces your armor and absorptions while active (this is intended to help balance out some of the potential defensive power artifacts can provide). Since this is a time-limited server, territory control is not the primary focus, so we wanted to give people an opportunity to experience the mode in a different way. Honestly, we’re hoping you will all go out into the field and bonk each other over the head with foam bats and cardboard tubes for a weekend. Death Status Effects - A new status effect will be present on your character when created on this server for tracking your Unfallen or Fallen state. This is our attempt at a different kind of hardcore experience. Characters who have not died will be considered ‘Unfallen’ and characters who have died will be considered ‘Fallen.' Instead of a traditional hardcore model, where your character is simply deleted on death, this status effect will stack up, granting 25 bonus attributes per stack. However, some challenges can only be completed in an Unfallen state. Group up with others to tackle these objectives and remain Unfallen, but don’t be afraid to keep going if you do Fall, you’ll be getting stronger and stronger. Earnable Rewards - You will be able to earn new rewards for your character by completing challenges in the Season Journey on this server. These new earnable rewards are Raw Orichalcite Stone, which allows you to craft any artifact you want (out of all the artifacts you do not currently own), and Runewood Resin, which allows you to craft any T3 trophy you want. There will also be new cosmetics and titles to earn throughout this experience. These rewards will not be claimable on your seasonal character and must be claimed on one of your primary characters. Important extra note about the Hardcore server - As the focus of this server is push the limit of characters to the max, including using full sets of artifacts in endgame content such as the Gorgon raid, players will be required to have the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion to participate.
Additional information (along with tips to help you along the way) can be found within the video below.
We wish you luck on your future hardcore adventures throughout Aeternum!

Take a closer look at some of the recent changes made to the leadership team for New World: Aeternum, and how this may impact the future of the game.
In the recent "Forged in Aeternum" video posted by New World: Aeternum, we were able to get a handful of our questions answered and also get a major update on the leadership team at New World: Aeternum.
Just 26 seconds into the video the question "Where is Scot Lane" was asked, which is a bit surprising to see the team be so upfront about it, but also appreciative as they were very transparent on the team. Scot Lane was previously the Game Director for New World: Aeternum, and when answering this question, the team shared that he is no longer in this role and has moved on to another project with Amazon Game Studios (likely the upcoming LOTR Online game they are working on, but not yet confirmed).
In his place was announced Katy Kaszynski, who has been highlighted in many previous developer update videos in the past and is a familiar face to the New World community. There were two additional members of the leadership team that were also highlighted, including Dan Henuber, Creative Director, and Joel Clift, Product Owner of Seasons and Systems.
Take a closer look at the full Q&A session below.
This video sheds more light on what to expect with future seasons of New World: Aeternum, and what we can expect to see over the next few months. We'll see you in Aeternum!

Experience the ultimate challenge in New World: Aeternum with the upcoming "Hardcore" Seasonal World — where danger is relentless, and only the strongest survive. Are you ready to prove your skill?
Speed. Strategy. Survival. These are the three key themes that describe New World: Aeternum's upcoming season, the "Season of the Divide". Approximately one month into this season, their will be an all-new season world that's temporarily opened up for players to truly test their skills - a Hardcore mode.
Within this hardcore server, players will begin in a "unfallen" state, gaining access to elite rewards if they survive without dying. Die once, and you will forfeit the ability to unlock the unfallen rewards as you accomplish the specific challenges. However, there's a twist - unlike other "hardcore" versions of games, your character will not be deleted upon death. Instead, they'll get buffed!
Characters that die within this season will lose their "unfallen" status, taking away the potential of receiving those unique rewards, but will also receive additional attribute points, allowing you to continue playing on the server, help your friends, and learn more about specific difficult battle mechanics.
The season 8 Hardcore seasonal world will only be available for a limited time and will launch in early June. More news regarding the official release date and potential rewards are coming soon.
To learn more about the upcoming hardcore seasonal world coming to New World: Aeternum, watch the video below.
