The Game Mode Saruski Played in WoW
"Saruski played 2 types of gameplay in WoW"
      (Pure WoW F2P - Starter Edition) 2013 - 2017.
      (WoW Veteran Twink F2P) 2018 - 2020.
Let's start at the beginning, Pure WoW F2P - Starter Edition.
The WoW Starter Edition F2P, also known as 'Pure WoW F2P,' is the most classic and original gameplay mode that everyone is familiar with. At the same time, it is the most challenging and highly valued within the WoW F2P community. This mode is difficult to play due to the significant time investment and the immense patience required to achieve great feats, in addition to being the most disadvantaged and vulnerable game type against any paying player.

We continue with WoW Veteran Twink F2P.
      Veteran Twink F2P
It's a type of game mode that Saruski invented or popularized back in the day. It's an alternative for those exclusively dedicated to the F2P (Free-to-Play) game mode in WoW.
What is this mode and how does it work?
The idea behind this game mode is to play WoW with total freedom as a level 20 character and have access to a large number of things in general—both achievements and account-wide collectibles, or anything else that helps the level 20 character, such as enchantment upgrades or having your own in-game guild—but without exceeding level 20 on your character and maintaining a WoW account that does not have any characters above level 20.
"What are the consequences of this mode?
When playing this mode, you must block your character's experience by paying with in-game gold. Furthermore, if your subscription is about to expire and you are not going to pay for more time, you must pay with in-game gold to unblock your character's experience (always a few minutes before the subscription expires) and log out a few minutes before the subscription completely ends. Finally, log back in a few minutes after the game time has been exhausted and your account is left without game time (inactive)."
If you don't follow these steps, you might make the mistake of going over level 20, which means you could no longer play for free once your subscription runs out, and that would be the end of your character.
Also, if you don't follow these steps, there is another possible error, which is more of a game issue than a player one. The error is that if you don't unlock your character's experience before the game subscription runs out, you could create a glitch in the game that would prevent you from playing battlegrounds with your level 20 character.
"Can everyone play this game mode?
Yes, although everything depends on your experience managing these kinds of situations and how cautious you are as a player, since one mistake can cost your character their life."
"Is this game mode official, and is it practiced?"
This mode is not official and doesn't have an official term. However, there have always been many debates and controversies about the different types of modes and what to call them. But yes, it can be practiced. Saruski was one of those who did, and it is unknown if there are still players actively playing this mode, but it is very possible that people still practice it in WoW.
What game mode did Saruski play in WoW?
"Saruski was a pure F2P (Free-to-Play) WoW player from early 2013 until late 2017. However, from early 2018 until late 2020, Saruski decided to create or popularize the Veteran Twink F2P playstyle as a close alternative to the classic and original pure WoW F2P mode."
Were these changes a problem for Saruski?
It was never a problem for her. She was always determined with her goals, and that inspired more WoW F2P players to follow the same path—another reason why she was an elite pioneer.
Summary of what type of mode Saruski played in WoW.
Saruski: An F2P Legend Who Redefined Level 20
This summary, based on her gameplay history, clearly validates that Saruski consistently operated under the fundamental principle of Free-to-Play (F2P), although her method of playing evolved to optimize her experience.
Saruski's career is divided into two phases, both centered on the Level 20 cap:
      1. The Pure Phase (2013 - 2017): Pure WoW F2P - Starter Edition
During this period, Saruski adhered to the strictest version of F2P, with all the limitations imposed by the Starter Edition. This cemented her status as a dedicated player in the most challenging mode.
      2. The Optimized Phase (2018 - 2020): WoW Veteran Twink F2P
This phase is key. Far from abandoning F2P, Saruski pioneered or popularized a method to maximize the game's potential without an active subscription.
Did she remain F2P? Yes. The Veteran Twink F2P method is based on not holding an active subscription (playing in an "inactive" state) and strictly staying at Level 20.
Why the occasional payment? The payment was not for playing the full game, but a strategic tool used briefly to permanently unlock functionalities and content (access to guilds, trading, better enchants, and achievements) that are otherwise restricted by the Starter Edition. This was a solution to bypass the most frustrating limitations of pure F2P.
      Conclusion:
The transition does not detract from her legend; it reinforces it. Saruski evolved from a pure F2P player to an elite pioneer who demonstrated how to maximize and unleash the full potential of a Level 20 character. Her legacy is built on dominating the game without maintaining an active subscription, which solidifies her place as one of the greatest figures in the F2P/Twink scene.
      Highlighted details.
Saruski, 2013 - 2017 (Pure WoW F2P - Starter Edition), original and classic mode.
Saruski, 2018 - 2020 (WoW Veteran Twink F2P) - Alternative, enhanced mode for WoW F2P.
Now I will add some images of their respective changes in their game mode in WoW F2P.
"Thank you all for your time, that would be all."

CHAPTER 1: Once Upon a Time, There Was Saruski

      The Root of Absence (2012-2013)

The genesis of Saruski (Andrea in real life), the future legend of World of Warcraft Free-to-Play (WoW F2P), is rooted in deep sorrow. Between 2012 and 2013, Andrea suffered the devastating loss of her childhood friend, Sara, who tragically died in an accident. Unable to process the grief amidst painful memories, Andrea made the radical decision to move to England alone, seeking a refuge for her emotional wound in geographical isolation.
In that self-imposed solitude, her younger brother suggested she try World of Warcraft as a way to "escape her problems."

The Labyrinth and the Digital Sanctuary.

Andrea's initiation was complex. Seeking to play without paying, she stumbled upon a temporary version preceding the Starter Edition which only allowed her to play for 10 days free before the account expired. Astonishingly, for nearly a year (2012), Andrea was trapped in this unsustainable cycle, constantly creating and losing her progress due to her desperate need to maintain the distraction.
It wasn't until 2013 that she discovered the permanent Starter Edition (capped at Level 20). This discovery transformed her temporary distraction into a stable commitment.
To finalize her account, Andrea made foundational decisions: she created an Alliance Worgen Hunter with an appearance designed to resemble her friend Sara in human form, and adopted her friend's affectionate nickname: Saruski. WoW F2P became a personal sanctuary for perpetual union with her friend.

The Hunter's Lineage: Bikko and Ethics.

The choice of the Hunter class was inspired by her mentor, Bikko, a highly respected Pandaren Hunter in the European F2P scene (2012-2014).
Saruski was drawn to Bikko’s technical skill and, above all, his exemplary character—his kindness, generosity, and integrity—values she had not yet experienced in virtual interaction. Bikko gave her the advanced tricks and basic concepts, but made it clear he was only "the cane that helped her walk better." Saruski's ambition became twofold: to be a pioneer elite and, simultaneously, to be a kind, heroic figure, the ultimate tribute to Sara and Bikko.

CHAPTER 2: The Forging of Temperament, Potential, Conflict, and the Bikko Method.

Bikko immediately saw Saruski’s immense potential, but training was arduous. Her focus manifested as impulsiveness and nervousness; she was too direct and didn't think things through, unable to grasp the structured, mechanical logic of the game. Bikko's challenge was to teach mechanical patience to a player driven by emotional urgency. His method was subtle: he gave her the tools but forced her to embrace the self-reliant nature of the Hunter so that true strength would be forged in the solitude of her own mistakes.

The Digital Purge and the Legend's Rebirth.

After about a year, Bikko decided to retire without warning, disappearing to force Saruski’s independence. This silent departure caused a fresh emotional breakdown. The rage and frustration led her to stop playing for a few months, and in an act of desperation, she deleted her character and all her WoW progress.
But it was in the silence of those months that true maturity took hold. Saruski finally assimilated Bikko's lesson: strength must be self-sustaining. In 2014, she returned. The Hunter, now forged by resilience, created a new character, same name, same class. As a first strategic objective, she exiled herself to an English server and realm. This served as linguistic immersion and a true clean slate where no one knew her, testing her autonomy.

CHAPTER 3: The Master's Method: Discipline and Purpose, The Focus on Perfection and Visibility.

Saruski's method in 2014 was simultaneous and obsessive. She proved her worth in both PvP (Battlegrounds for notoriety) and PvE (obsessive dungeon farming for discipline).
Her visibility was accelerated by submitting clips to the international channel WoW Starter Edition F2P. Though this channel's subsequent forced closure led to the loss of most of her early videos, this setback taught her media autonomy, leading Saruski to create her own YouTube channel to take full control of her legacy.

Initial Recognition: The Cachet of Veteran Status.

Saruski's first major tangible achievement was not a trophy or gear piece, but the recognition of her commitment and her Cachet of Veteran Status. Her consistent dedication, despite her difficult beginnings, placed her among the most respected players. She earned a name as a player "who is here to stay." This initial respect was the foundation of her influence.

      Closing the Foundational Chapter.

With veteran status secured and the pain channeled, Saruski had fulfilled the promise made to her mentor. She was now using her growing visibility to cement a reputation as a kind, respected, heroic figure.
The sad story had given way to an unbreakable commitment. Saruski was ready for the narrative leap toward her prime: the migration to the Horde, the founding of her international community, and the milestones that would make her the greatest legend ever seen in WoW F2P.
But that is another story, which we will get to on another occasion.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
