Delves S1 Tier 8: item-level range & Weekly Vault thresholds — shareable preset

Recommended Posts

Hi! I’ve been building a small web calculator for Delves.

Preset example (S1 T8, ~10m): https://lootcalc.com/games/wow/delves-loot-calculator?season=season1&tier=8

What it does
- Estimates EV/hr from your time per run
- Shows Weekly Vault thresholds
- Shareable presets so folks can replicate or tweak assumptions

Open to corrections and data tweaks; I’ll keep a visible changelog. Thanks!image.thumb.png.617208bda061b20d1d5bf8abfe186bc4.png

Thanks for sharing this! And first of all: I really appreciate when someone does something and shares with everybody (I'm ignoringg the ads here on purpose). That's something that becomes rarer and rarer nowadays. So again: thank you!

And please let my further reactions not stop you from continuing, it's only one single opinion (!).

The design looks clean at first glance, but you might be better off using 50% width horizontal rects rather than vertical ones for the four top right info boxes. That might greatly improve readbility (since data is now being truncated, even on the widest displays, due to the content area being of fixed max width).

Also, when there isn't much room (as on mobile devices), theses boxes move to below all explanations. But this is exactly the information you are looking for. It should be placed to the very proximity of the "calculation" button.

What brings us to the main issue: I'm sorry to say that, but I don't see any calculation, nor any added value (for me!).

If we are expected to enter the time per run ourselves, I can't see how and where. And since EV is calculated per run and not per hour, I don't the the relevance for that value at all. If it's not meant to be provided by us, but an estimate, well...

First of all, it makes a difference, if you run a D8 or a D11 in terms of time - and depending on your gear, that difference might be huge! So, limiting the upper option to 8+ already blurs the results. Not to speak of class and spec. In general, you can expect a Holy Priest to take much longer for the same Delve and level than a Protection Paladin at the same gear level (even if I don't see why you should run a D11 as a holy priest, but that's another story ;)).

Speaking of level: Your Brann level also has a huge impact (even though he doesn't seem to contribute much at times): a Level 100 Brann will make your time a lot easier than a level 20 one, and reduces item requirement by a lot (e.g. allowing characters with an iLvl of below 680 to comfortably - well, more or less - clear a D11). And more so with the right curios at top level (4/4).

So time estimation is blurry at best, useless, if being looked at more thoroughly (especially, since it doesn't change at all! it always displays "~10 min", no matter the delve lvl), and simply irrelevant for the EV per run.

EV isn't explained well and doesn't exactly benefit from mixing delves with OSRS. Especially, since OSRS doesn't have any impact on playing delves (obviously). And the (mostly) missing distinction between regular delves and bountiful ones somewhat blurs that further, because the only way to get loot above 642 is running a bountiful delve and have a key at hand (and keys must be farmed elsewhere and have a weekly limit - something I could rant over for hours...).

And all of this doesn't even consider the actual usefulness of the loot. Useful loot must always be an upgrade and thus isn't useful, if it is for an already well-equipped slot. This drives time costs ever higher as the iLvl increases (because the probabilitiy increases, that you don't loot an upgrade). You simply can't break it down to "you get about 663 iLevel per run" or per hour or whatsoever. I seriously doubt that a reliable loot projection (because this is what - for me - you seem to attempt here) is even possible.

The given information could be presented in a simple table or spreadsheet ( like https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/delve-rewards-guide#gear, for example), your only addidtion being an estimate of needed time (which I have argumented to be useless) and a very superficially "calculated" (E)xpected (V)alue.

So, all in all, I really appreciate the idea you had, but for now, and for me, the information on the delves page is more than sufficient.
