1. Preface

Lunara has three core Builds, each requiring certain talents in order to work well. The list below shows each Build and their respective recommended talent choices.

Talents recommended if playing the Basic Attack Build (strong against melee heavy teams):

Talents recommended if playing the Poison Build (good if you play against push and poke oriented team composition featuring ranged Assassins and Specialists):

Talents recommended if playing the Anti Magic Build (useful if you play against team compositions that rely heavily on crowd control and ability damage):

2. Talent Build

Level Choices
1 Blossom Swell Photosynthesis Natural Perspective Cruel Spores
4 Nimble Wisp Timelost Wisp Skybound Wisp Dividing Wisp
7 Siphoning Toxin ? Wild Vigor Splintered Spear Nature's Culling
10 Thornwood Vine Leaping Strike
13 Pestering Blossom Unfair Advantage Giant Killer Greater Spell Shield ?
16 Choking Pollen Star Wood Spear Invigorating Spores Let Them Wither
20 Forest's Wrath Boundless Stride Galloping Gait Abolish Magic ?

3. Common Talent Paths

Basic Attack Build: outstanding sustained damage from large distance and great mobility

Poison Build: very strong damage over time combined with potent AoE waveclear

Anti Magic Build: strong counter talents against crowd control heavy teams and ability-dependent Assassins.

4. Level 1 Talents

Blossom Swell Photosynthesis Natural Perspective Cruel Spores

4.1. Descriptions

Blossom Swell Icon Blossom Swell increases Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom's radius by 20%.

Photosynthesis Icon Photosynthesis causes Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores to return 10 Mana per enemy hit, up to a maximum of 30 Mana.

Natural Perspective Icon Natural Perspective causes Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin to also reveal enemies for its duration.

Cruel Spores Icon Cruel Spores reduces Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores's cooldown by 80% and also refunds 20 Mana when only Minions and Mercenaries are affected by it.

4.2. Recommended

Natural Perspective Icon Natural Perspective is a very useful talent, which allows you to follow the enemy team's movements and warns you in time, should enemies try to engage on you. Keep in mind that it also makes landing skillshots for your allies a lot easier, since the vision from Natural Perspective enables them predict the movement paths of their targets.

Cruel Spores Icon Cruel Spores is a great choice if you intend to go for a Basic Attack oriented talents, most notably Wild Vigor Icon Wild Vigor at Level 7 and Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear at Level 13. Cruel Spores reduces the cooldown of Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores whenever you hit Minions and Mercenaries only, so make sure to use it cleverly during team fights when Minion waves are nearby. This will make you benefit from Wild Vigor's and Star Wood Spear's buffs more frequently.

4.3. Not Recommended

Blossom Swell Icon Blossom Swell increases the radius of Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom by 20%, which is too little to make a noteworthy difference. Thus, it cannot compete against the utility coming from Natural Perspective Icon Natural Perspective or the late game damage potential from Cruel Spores Icon Cruel Spores.

Photosynthesis Icon Photosynthesis is not a recommended talent for the mere fact that Lunara usually does not suffer from Mana issues due to the low Mana costs of her abilities.

5. Level 4 Talents

Nimble Wisp Timelost Wisp Skybound Wisp Dividing Wisp

5.1. Descriptions

Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp increases Wisp Icon Wisp's movement speed by 100% and its vision radius by 50%.

Timelost Wisp Icon Timelost Wisp removes Wisp Icon Wisp's Mana cost and causes its cooldown to recharge 125% faster while no Wisp is active.

Skybound Wisp Icon Skybound Wisp enables Wisp Icon Wisp to also see over obstacles and reveals the scouted area for 4 seconds after dying.

Dividing Wisp Icon Dividing Wisp causes Wisp Icon Wisp to leave a copy of itself in the previous location after relocating. Only one Dividing Wisp can be active at a time.

5.2. Recommended

Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp balances out the Wisp Icon Wisp's biggest weakness, which is its slow movement speed. Furthermore, it adds 50% more vision to it, making it one of the strongest scouting abilities in the game.

5.3. Not Recommended

Timelost Wisp Icon Timelost Wisp does not add any significant improvements to Wisp Icon Wisp. Compared to Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp, the slower movement speed and the smaller vision radius make it an inferior scouting tool, despite having a lower cooldown.

Skybound Wisp Icon Skybound Wisp is not a bad talent per se, however, it is more susceptible to being discovered and destroyed than Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp due to its slow movement speed. However, if the enemy team features one or more stealthed Heroes, Skybound Wisp's reveal effect can be useful.

Dividing Wisp Icon Dividing Wisp cannot keep up with the scouting information Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp provides. It travels significantly slower and thus gets spotted and destroyed more easily.

6. Level 7 Talents

Siphoning Toxin ? Wild Vigor Splintered Spear Nature's Culling

6.1. Descriptions

Siphoning Toxin Icon Siphoning Toxin heals Lunara for a small amount as long as Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin is active on an enemy.

Wild Vigor Icon Wild Vigor increases the damage of Lunara's next 4 Basic Attacks by 40% after using Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores.

Splintered Spear Icon Splintered Spear allows Lunara to hit up to 4 targets after using Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom.

Nature's Culling Icon Nature's Culling increases Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin's damage against non-Heroic targets by 150%.

6.2. Recommended

Wild Vigor Icon Wild Vigor is an excellent choice if you go for a Basic Attack Build, since it has outstanding synergy with Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear at Level 13. Both talents combined allow you to deal increased damage from a very large distance.

Splintered Spear Icon Splintered Spear is a useful tool to spread Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin on several enemies at the same time. However, doing so usually requires you to get close to them, so you should double check whether you have a good Supporter at your side.

Nature's Culling Icon Nature's Culling is good when clearing Minion waves in order to relieve lane pressure. By the same token, it causes Lunara to deal a significant amount of extra damage against enemy Structures, which makes her a very strong pusher.

6.3. Situational

Siphoning Toxin Icon Siphoning Toxin can be a necessary talent choice if you do not have any Support Heroes in your team. The constant heal over time effect allows you to stay in combat and soak experience even while the Healing Fountain is on cooldown.

7. Level 10 Talents

At this level, Heroic Abilities become available. Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine and Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike have already been described in the Abilities section.

7.1. Recommended

Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine is a strong poking ability, which allows Lunara to spread Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin from a safe distance. Due to its large casting range, Thornwood Vine enables Lunara to outmatch most other ranged Assassins. If you notice that the enemy team composition consists mainly of ranged Heroes, we generally recommend this Heroic Ability over Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike.

While not team fighting, Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine is also a great ability to clear Minion waves very quickly. However, always track the number of charges and make sure to have at least 1 charge ready before major team fights.

Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike adds a lot of mobility to Lunara's kit, which allows her to escape dangerous situations more quickly. Thus, it is our prefered choice when playing against engage-heavy team compositions featuring multiple Warriors and melee Assassins.

It is quite important to carefully observe the enemy team's position before using Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike. Do not use Leaping Strike if it would position yourself close to the rest of the enemy team. Instead, use it as an escape mechanism or to finish off retreating enemies.

Thornwood Vine Leaping Strike

8. Level 13 Talents

Pestering Blossom Unfair Advantage Giant Killer Greater Spell Shield ?

8.1. Descriptions

Pestering Blossom Icon Pestering Blossom increases Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom's casting range by 50%.

Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage increases Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin's damage against slowed Heroes by 50%.

Giant Killer Icon Giant Killer causes your Basic Attacks to deal additional damage to Heroes equal to 1.5% of their maximum Health.

Upon taking ability damage, Greater Spell Shield Icon Greater Spell Shield reduces that damage and any further ability damage by 75% for 3 seconds. This effects can only trigger once every 30 seconds.

8.2. Recommended

Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage is a quite reliable talent, since Lunara's Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores can be manually activated to slow enemy targets, which would then cause them to take increased damage from her Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin. All in all, Unfair Advantage is a great talent if you chose the Poison Build, since it really pushes Lunara's damage over time to the limit.

Giant Killer Icon Giant Killer causes Lunara's Basic Attacks, especially if empowered by talents like Wild Vigor Icon Wild Vigor or Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear, to deal increased damage. Due to the fact that it scales with maximum health percentage, it is particularly strong against Warriors.

8.3. Situational

Greater Spell Shield Icon Greater Spell Shield is an incredibly useful talent if the enemy team has a lot of ability damage at their disposal. Greater Spell Shield can reduce the damage potential of Heroes like Jaina or Kael'thas significantly, so make sure to carefully analyse the enemy team's composition.

8.4. Not Recommended

Pestering Blossom Icon Pestering Blossom is an unnecessary talent, since the initial casting range of Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom is already good enough. Compared to the alternative talent choices at Level 13, Pestering Blossom has by far the least impact on Lunara's combat performance and consequently should be ignored.

9. Level 16 Talents

Choking Pollen Star Wood Spear Invigorating Spores Let Them Wither

9.1. Descriptions

Choking Pollen Icon Choking Pollen increases Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom's damage by 125% against enemies afflicted with Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin.

Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear increases Lunara's attack range by 50% for 6 seconds after using Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores.

Invigorating Spores Icon Invigorating Spores increases Lunara's attack speed by 50% for 6 seconds after using Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores.

Let Them Wither Icon Let Them Wither increases Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores' movement speed slow to 60%.

9.2. Recommended

Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear allows Lunara to attack from a large distance. This prevents her from exposing herself to the enemy team, which is very important for squishy ranged Assassins in general.

9.3. Not Recommended

Choking Pollen Icon Choking Pollen requires you to land your Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom in order to benefit from its bonus damage. Consequently, it depends on your aim, which makes it a hit or miss talent, whereas Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear is much more reliable.

Invigorating Spores Icon Invigorating Spores causes Lunara to attack faster, which increases her damage output. However, the increased range from Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear usually allows her to move more freely, which overall results in attacking more frequently due to the superior range.

Let Them Wither Icon Let Them Wither is not a recommended talent at this tier, since Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores' innate movement speed slow of 40% is already sufficient to catch up to retreating targets already.

10. Level 20 Talents

Forest's Wrath Boundless Stride Galloping Gait Abolish Magic ?

10.1. Descriptions

Forest's Wrath Icon Forest's Wrath increases Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine's range by 35% and its travelling speed by 20%. It also increases Lunara's vision radius by 35%.

Boundless Stride Icon Boundless Stride resets the cooldown of all Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike charges every 30 seconds. Furthermore, Lunara can now also use Leaping Strike on allies.

Galloping Gait Icon Galloping Gait is an activatable talent, which allows Lunara to activate Dryad's Swiftness to increase the movement speed bonus to 80% for 6 seconds. This ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds.

Abolish Magic Icon Abolish Magic is an activatable talent, which enables Lunara to remove all Stuns, Slows, Silences, Roots, and damage-over-time effects from both herself and a target ally. It also reduces the duration of any further crowd control or damage-over-time effect by 50% for 2 seconds.

10.2. Recommended

Forest's Wrath Icon Forest's Wrath can only be taken if you went for Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine at Level 10. However, if you chose Thornwood Vine, the benefits coming from this talent are too important to be ignored. The increased travelling speed and range allows you to cast Thornwood Vine more precisely, while the increased vision radius allows you to spot enemies earlier.

Galloping Gait Icon Galloping Gait adds an incredible amount of mobility to Lunara's kit. 80% movement speed increase allows her to outrun every Hero in the game, which can be used offensively and defensively. Against teams with several Warriors and melee Assassins, in particular, this talent allows Lunara to survive on the battlefield and keep a healthy distance to enemy initiators.

10.3. Situational

Abolish Magic Icon Abolish Magic can be a very useful talent if the enemy team is heavy on crowd controls, such as stuns, slows, and roots. Furthermore, it also counters damage over time abilities like Kael'thas' Living Bomb Icon Living Bomb, which can be crucial to save an ally's life.

10.4. Not Recommended

Boundless Stride Icon Boundless Stride can only be taken if you went for Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike at Level 10. Unfortunately, it cannot compete against the overall mobility provided by Galloping Gait Icon Galloping Gait. The ability to use Leaping Strike on allies as well is a nice gimmick, however, it rarely has an actual impact on the game.
