1. Raise Skeleton

Xul Raise Skeleton
Raise Skeleton (D) Diablo Xul
  • Trait

When a nearby enemy Minion dies, it becomes a Skeletal Warrior that attacks for 51 (24 + 4% per level) damage and last up to 15 seconds. Up to 4 Skeletal Warriors can be active at once.

Raise Skeleton Icon Raise Skeleton causes Xul to ressurect a nearby fallen enemy Minion and turn it into a Sekeletal Warrior that lives up to 15 seconds. Xul can have up to 4 Skeletal Warriors active at the same time.

Xul's trait allows him to consistently raise Skeletal Warriors from fallen enemy Minions, which greatly enhances his pushing capabilities. Not only do Skeletal Warriors help clear Minion waves faster, they also soak up ammo from enemy Structures, which will improve the damage done by your own Minions significantly.

Thanks to Raise Skeleton Icon Raise Skeleton-related talents like Rathma's Blessing Icon Rathma's Blessing, Corpse Explosion Icon Corpse Explosion, and Skeleton Mastery Icon Skeleton Mastery, it is generally recommended to rotate between lanes and raise Skeletons as much as possible.

2. Bone Armor

Xul Bone Armor
Bone Armor (1) Diablo Xul
  • Cooldown: 30 seconds

Activate to gain a Shield equal to 25% of your maximum Health for 3 seconds.

Bone Armor Icon Bone Armor can be activated to gain a temporary shield equal to 25% of Xul's maximum health for 3 seconds.

Xul is a relatively squishy melee Specialist, despite having a rather high health pool. Consequently, Bone Armor Icon Bone Armor becomes a very important ability to protect him during team fights and skirmishes. Knowing when to use Bone Armor becomes crucial, since the ability comes with a 30-second cooldown.

As a rule of thumb, it is better to use it early during team fights in order to absorb incoming abilities and Basic Attacks. If you use Bone Armor too late or while already being on low health, you are likely going to end up dying anyway. To maximise the efficiency of Bone Armor, try to anticipate enemy burst damage abilities by carefully watching the enemy Heroes and their casting animations. Many spells, like Kael'thas' Pyroblast Icon Pyroblast or Jaina Blizzard Icon Blizzard either require a channeling animation or travel very slowly, which allows Xul to use Bone Armor in time.

3. Spectral Scythe

Xul Spectral Scythe
Spectral Scythe (Q) Diablo Xul
  • Mana: 60
  • Cooldown: 8 seconds

Summon a scythe that travels to you after 1 second, dealing 526 (250 + 4% per level) damage to enemies.

Spectral Scythe Icon Spectral Scythe causes Xul to summon a scythe to the target location that travels back to him after 1 second, dealing a large amount of damage to all enemies in its path.

Xul's waveclear becomes even more powerful if he uses Spectral Scythe Icon Spectral Scythe effectively, which usually requires him to place the scythse behind enemy Archer Minions.

Aiming and landing Spectral Scythe can sometimes be tricky, especially againt moving enemy targets. Consequently, it is often recommended to wait until you have successfully rooted someone by using Bone Prison Icon Bone Prison and then use Spectral Scythe on the imprisoned target.

4. Cursed Strikes

Xul Cursed Strikes
Cursed Strikes (W) Diablo Xul
  • Mana: 65
  • Cooldown: 15 seconds

Your Basic Attacks deal damage in a wide area and reduce the Attack Speed of Heroes and Summons by 40% for 2 seconds. Lasts 4 seconds once triggered.

Cursed Strikes Icon Cursed Strikes causes Xul's Basic Attacks to deal damage in a wide area. Enemies hit have their attack speed reduced by 50% for 2 seconds. Once triggered, Cursed Strikes lasts for 4 seconds.

Having a 15-second cooldown, Cursed Strikes Icon Cursed Strikes should be used with caution, since you really want to have it ready during team fights and duels. As it also requires slighty more Mana than Spectral Scythe Icon Spectral Scythe, we recommend saving it for huge Minion waves that require quick clearing.

During team fights, Cursed Strikes should be used against attack speed dependent Heroes, such as Illidan, Thrall, Kharazim, or Sonya, in order to cripple their combat efficiency. Since ranged Heroes are often hard to reach for Xul, because of his limited mobility, Cursed Strikes is a lot more useful against melee heavy team compositions.

5. Bone Prison

Xul Bone Prison
Bone Prison (E) Diablo Xul
  • Mana: 80
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds

After a 2 second delay, deals 176 (84 + 4% per level) damage and roots the target enemy Hero for 1.75 seconds.

After a 2-second delay, Bone Prison Icon Bone Prison damages and roots a target enemy Hero for 1.75 seconds.

Bone Prison Icon Bone Prison is an incredibly powerful crowd control ability for two major reasons. Firstly, its 2-second root effect provides enough time for Xul and the rest of his team to approach the affected enemy target and damage it. Secondly, Bone Prison comes with flashy visual effect that marks the chosen enemy, which clearly signalises your allies which target to focus.

6. Poison Nova

Xul Poison Nova
Poison Nova (R) Diablo Xul
  • Mana: 100
  • Cooldown: 90 seconds

After a short delay, release poisonous missiles that deal 1249 (593 + 4% per level) damage to all enemies hit over 10 seconds.

Poison Nova Icon Poison Nova causes Xul to release several poisonous projectiles in a circular area around him. Each enemy hit takes a large amount of damage over 10 seconds.

Poison Nova Icon Poison Nova provides Xul a massive AoE damage over time ability, which can have a massive impact on team fights. There is, however, one important factor that needs to be taken into consideration before Poison Nova should be taken over Skeletal Mages Icon Skeletal Mages.

First of all, the enemy Support must be taken into account. Strong AoE healers like Malfurion or Kharazim can greatly reduce the efficiency of Poison Nova, whereas single target healers like Lt. Morales or Uther struggle to keep several poisened allies alive at the same time. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that Poison Nova is particularly if powerful if the enemy team composition consists mainly of melee Heroes, since they are usually standing closer to Xul than ranged Heroes.

7. Skeletal Mages

Xul Skeletal Mages
Skeletal Mages (R) Diablo Xul
  • Mana: 80
  • Cooldown: 70 seconds

Summons 4 Frost Mages in a line that attack nearby enemies for 103 (49 + 4% per level) damage a second and slow them by 30% for 2 seconds. Last up to 15 seconds.

Skeletal Mages Icon Skeletal Mages allows Xul to summon 4 Frost Mages in a straight line that attack nearby enemies for a small amount of damage and also slow their movement speed by 30% for s 2 seconds. The wall of Skeletal Mages lasts up to 15 seconds.

Skeletal Mages Icon Skeletal Mages is a great tool to zone enemy Heroes and slow their movement speed. The efficiency of Skeletal Mages can be increased even further if your team has decent crowd control abilities, which enable you to follow up extremely well on targets already slowed by Skeletal Mages.

Due to the relatively long cooldown on Skeletal Mages, it should be cast with caution. Use narrow choke points, walls, and other impassable terrain to your advantage in order to successfully trap enemy high priority targets.

8. ChangeLog
