Cataclysm Classic Guide to Death Knight's Best Macros

This guide focused on showing some examples of some useful Macros on your Death Knight and how they function. A macro is a series of commands put into a text box to execute multiple actions either simultaneously or sequentially depending on how the ability/item functions.

• Start Auto Attack
• /cast Scourge Strike

This is an especially useful macro as a Death Knight as there is rarely ever a situation where you do not want to be auto-attacking while in combat so make sure to macro this in with whatever your abilities you are using depending on your specialization.

• Focus Mind Freeze:

• #showtooltip Mind Freeze
• /cast [@focus] Mind Freeze

This macro allows you to cast your Interrupt Mind Freeze on your focus target as opposed to your primary target, this can also be used with abilities like Chains of Ice and Death Grip so feel free to make macros with those in place of Mind Freeze.

• Disease Application:

• #showtooltip
• /castsequence [mod:alt] reset=5 Icy Touch, Plague Strike
• /cast Outbreak

This macro applies your casts your Icy Touch and Plague Strike abilities. This is typically only useful early into an encounter as an Unholy Death Knight as we will ideally be using Outbreak in order to snapshot more powerful diseases once we have trinket procs.

• Pet Attack:

• /petfollow
• /petattack

This macro is really only useful as Unholy but will cause your Ghoul to attack your current target. It is a good idea to macro this onto an easy to hit button as your Ghoul will be a considerable amount of your damage so making sure it is hitting the correct target is crucial.

• Death Coil Pet Heal:

• /target ghoul name
• /cast Death Coil
• /targetlasttarget

This macro is used to heal your ghoul with your Death Coil ability. The macro will also immediately return you back to your previous target, often times the mob you are attacking. Make sure to fill in the ghoul name with the name of your summoned ghoul.

• Mouseover Death and Decay:

• #showtooltip Death and Decay
• /cast [@cursor] Death and Decay

This macro causes your Death and Decay ability to instantly be cast at your cursors current location as opposed to having to press the button a second time in order to place it which can at times cost you a GCD or may even cause you to misplace it.
