Welcome to our Macro Guide for RogueRogue where you will find out what the best macros are for your Rogue in Mists of Pandaria Classic.

1.

Rogue Macros in Mists of Pandaria

This guide focused on showing some examples of some useful Macros on your Rogue and how they function. A macro is a series of commands put into a text box to execute multiple actions either simultaneously or sequentially depending on how the ability/item functions.

2.

General Macros

  • Start Auto Attack
  • /cast Sinister Strike

This is an especially useful macro as a Rogue as there is rarely ever a situation where you do not want to be auto-attacking while in combat. It is important to remember to swap this with your specializations specific primary form of Combo Point generator like Mutilate Icon Mutilate or Backstab Icon Backstab.

  • Focus Kick:
  • #showtooltip Kick
  • /cast [@focus] Kick

This macro allows you to cast your Interrupt Kick Icon Kick on your focus target as opposed to your primary target. Keep in mind that Kick is only able to be used in Melee range so while this is a great tool you to maintain your target you do still need to be aware of your distance from your current focus target.

  • Tricks of the Trade Mouseover:
  • #showtooltip Tricks of the Trade
  • cast [@mouseover] Tricks of the Trade

This macro allows you to use your Tricks of the Trade Icon Tricks of the Trade ability without dropping your current target. With the emphasis in Mists of Pandaria on snapshotting it is as important as ever to be able to quickly provide Tricks to the right target and being able to do so without stopping your own rotation is crucial to maximizing the entire groups DPS output.

  • Focus Shadowstep:
  • #showtooltip Shadowstep
  • /cast [@focus] Shadowstep

Like the Kick Icon Kick macro highlighted above this macro will cast your Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep ability on your focus target. This can easily be paired with the above Kick macro to instantly interrupt a target that may have otherwise been out of range.

  • Shadow Dance:
  • #showtooltip Shadow Dance
  • /cast Blood Fury
  • /cast Shadow Dance

This macro is only really useful if you are either an Engineer, have an on use DPS racial (Troll, Orc) or have an on use trinket, ideally we will be stacking any DPS cooldowns we have with our Shadow Dance Icon Shadow Dance ability so if you have Engineering add a line that says /use 10 which will instantly use your Synapse Springs Icon Synapse Springs. If you find yourself with an on use trinket add a line that says /use item name and it will automatically use the trinket. It is important to note that while you may be tempted to add Shadow Blades Icon Shadow Blades to this it will often times be a slight DPS loss compared to using it outside of Shadow Dance.

3.

Rogue Addons

Macros are very important in making your character play as smoothly as possible, but so do addons, for which reason we recommend that you also read our Rogue Addons page.
