Elemental Rune Protocol Inferno Dungeon Guide

With Phase 3 of Cataclysm coming out, Blizzard has added Elemental Rune Dungeons, a way to increase the difficulty of dungeons further beyond Heroic for even better rewards.

Introduction

Similar to Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard has added Elemental Rune Protocol dungeons to Cataclysm, starting with Protocol Inferno dungeons. In these Protocol Inferno dungeons, players will be able to acquire Phase 1 raid gear in Heroic dungeons by activating the Mysterous Elemental Device at the entrance of the dungeon. If all 5 players in the party agree to activating the Mysterous Elemental Device, Protocol Inferno difficulty will activate.

Protocol Inferno Rewards

Bosses in Protocol Inferno dungeons will drop two Fissure Stone Fragment Icon Fissure Stone Fragments which can be used to purchase items from Kyanite Stonetender in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar respectively. These Fissure Stone Fragment Icon Fissure Stone Fragments can be exchanged for Phase 1 PvE raid gear, allowing you to quickly gear up new characters; this PvE raid also includes the randomized loot from Al'Akir, such as Thunder Wall Greaves Icon Thunder Wall Greaves, which will roll for a random stat.
