Guide to Transmogrification

Transmogrification, most commonly called Transmog, was originally introduced in Cataclysm and is returning in Cataclysm Classic. This system allows you to change the appearance of you gear to look like other gear that you have previously collected. This allows players to keep the appearance of some of their favorite gear sets while still wearing the most current gear.

When Transmog was originally introduced, players had to keep the gear that they wanted to use for its' appearance in their bank. With Cataclysm Classic, we are getting an updated version of the Transmog system. This updated version will instead "collect" an items appearance when you acquire an item, adding it to your appearance collection. You can select item appearances from this collection when Transmoging, meaning you no longer need to keep old gear in your bank to have the appearance available for Transmog.

Transmoging is simple enough; head to the NPC for your faction shown below and pick the item you want to transmog. Choose the new appearance for the item from your list of collected appearances and apply the change. Do this for each item whose look you wish to change; mix and match gear or use full sets for a complete outfit look!

To revert the item back to its original appearance, follow the steps below.

Players can Transmog their gear by speaking with an Transmogrifier NPC. You can only find these NPCs in faction-specific cities listed below.

The Alliance can only Transmog gear in Stormwind. Speak with any guard in the city, ask where you can Transmog your gear, and head to the location shown to speak with Warpweaver Hashom.

The Horde can only Transmog gear in Orgrimmar. Speak with any guard in the city, ask where you can Transmog your gear, and head to the location shown to speak with Warpweaver Dushar.
