Assassin Guide — Chrono Odyssey
As of the most recent public test for Chrono Odyssey, Assassin was unavailable for testing. Due to that, there is very limited information on how the class will play in-game, though we do have footage about the expected fantasy and playstyle.
The Assassin is a stealth-oriented melee class, focusing on precision strikes to dispatch targets quickly without witnesses. Based on footage shown, it will be extremely mobile, able to engage enemies on its own terms, and disengage to finish the kill from a distance if necessary.
In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about the Assassin class in Chrono Odyssey, including weapon options, available skills, playstyle choices, class masteries, positioning, gear recommendations, and more.
Class Identity
While the Assassin is not playable yet, there is information released on the class's intended goals and primary focuses.
- Combat Role: Melee / Mid-range Damage Dealer, focusing on high single-target damage to key targets.
- Resource: Vigor and Bloodlust.
- Fantasy: Strike from the shadows to deal lethal damage to unsuspecting enemies.
Based on some early footage, the Assassin featured extended burst combos that fluidly switched between equipped weapons, able to leap in and out of melee range, dealing explosive bursts, and applying Poison effects. It will likely reward picking your targets carefully, setting up for combos and precise sequencing.
Assassin Weapon Playstyles
While there is very limited information on how each weapon will play, there are three known options for the Assassin. You can select any combination of two weapons to equip at a time.
- Sabre — Melee weapon. Likely the slower option between the two close-range options, with footage showing charged strikes for high payoff burst.
- Wrist Blades — Melee weapon. The faster of the two options, dealing rapid burst combos and applying stacks of poison, while incorporating mobility into strikes.
- Musket — Ranged weapon. Used in combination with a melee option to keep pressure up after disengaging, and keeping enemies at a distance while you recover.
Assassin Playstyle Expectations
While there was very little available during previous tests, the Assassin is likely to feature a fluid combat style that focuses on executing combos on foes that cannot strike back. Poison will likely be a common debuff, and a heavy focus on critical strikes. We expect to see:
- Rewards for dealing Critical Strikes.
- Mobility incorporated into abilities, moving you swiftly around the battlefield.
- Single-target crowd control.
- A heavier focus on evasion as a defense tool compared to other melees.
It will likely appeal to anyone looking for a class that can engage enemies on their own terms, planning and then executing a lethal strike. We expect its sustained damage may be slightly lower than some other classes, but in exchange will feature unmatched burst potential for dispatching key targets.
