Sorcerer Guide — Chrono Odyssey
The Sorcerer is Chrono Odyssey's dedicated ranged magic class, focused on elemental spells, area-of-effect damage, and battlefield control. While Sorcerer was not playable during the first Closed Beta Test, NOPIXEL has released enough preview footage for us to outline the class fantasy, its expected role, and how it fits into Chrono Odyssey's combat system.
Note: This page serves as a starting point until an upcoming Closed Beta includes Sorcerer as a playable option. Once testing begins, we will update this section with full skill details, weapons, masteries, and builds.
Class Identity
- Combat Role: Long-range spellcaster specializing in AoE damage and crowd control.
- Resource: Mana.
- Fantasy: Manipulate arcane and elemental forces to control the flow of battle and punish clustered enemies.
Compared to the more physical classes, the Sorcerer emphasizes positioning, timing, and strategic use of cooldowns. Expect the class to reward careful play and strong encounter awareness, especially during large enemy pulls or group content.
Sorcerer Weapon Playstyles
Sorcerer uses three class specific weapons, and the combination you use determines whether you play as a ranged DPS or a healer/DPS hybrid. Public data from the June Closed Beta client confirms the stat identities for each weapon type.
- Staff — The Sorcerer's primary two-handed destructive weapon. Staffs feature Damage Boost and Damage Over Time stats, making them ideal for massive high-impact AoE casting and sustained magical damage.
- Manasphere — A one-handed DPS weapon focused on Critical Rate and Mana Reduction. This is the Sorcerer's crit-scaling option, enabling fast-paced spellcasting with strong burst potential.
- Grimoire — The Sorcerer's dedicated two-handed healing weapon. All publicly visible Grimoire weapons, even at higher tiers, include Healing as a main stat alongside Max Mana and Mana Reduction. Equipping a Grimoire enables true healing capabilities, allowing Sorcerer to function as a support or hybrid healer.
Your active role depends entirely on your two equipped weapons:
- Staff + Manasphere — Pure DPS (no healing)
- Staff + Grimoire — DPS + Healing hybrid
- Manasphere + Grimoire — Crit DPS + Healing hybrid
Weapons
Sorcerer will have access to three class-specific weapons, with two used at a time:
- Staff — Expected to be the main offensive weapon, offering large elemental spells and high-impact AoE tools.
- Manasphere — Likely tied to persistent effects, zones, or control abilities.
- Grimoire — Thematically suited for healing, utility, debuffs, or support effects.
Sorcerer Playstyle Expectations
- Strong AoE burst for grouped enemies.
- Crowd control tools to manage waves or assist tanks.
- High damage potential when positioned safely at range.
- Likely low defensive abilities, making movement and spacing important. Glass cannon-like.
If you enjoy classic mage fantasy in RPGs, then the Sorcerer will feel immediately familiar. The class leans heavily into deliberate, high-impact decision making, setting up zones, punishing grouped enemies with mass AoE, and using superior movement and range to stay safe while dealing some of the strongest damage in the game. We will update this page with much more information once Sorcerer becomes playable in a future Closed Beta.
How to Play Sorcerer
Final skill names, cooldowns, and mastery interactions will be added as soon as the class becomes playable! So check back often!
