Timewalking Highlight: The Arcatraz (Spoilers on Patch 6.2 Date?)

Recommended Posts

As a continuation of the trickle of information on Patch 6.2, Blizzard posted a preview of The Arcatraz - a Burning Crusade dungeon - that will be featured in the Timewalking weekend event. The post has since been edited, but may have accidentally pointed to Patch 6.2's release date.

BlizzardWatch captured the unedited post here, suggesting a possible Patch 6.2 release date of June 23 (in line with the expectations set by the timing of the Warlords Season 1 Ending Soon post).

The complete post details (as edited) follow:

Timewalking

In World of Warcraft Patch 6.2, we're introducing a new series of seven different weekend events, and two of the seven weekends will make Timewalking Dungeons available to characters at level 71 and higher for Outland dungeons or 81 and higher for Northrend dungeons. When you Timewalk these dungeons, you’ll find that your character’s power and gear has been scaled down to a fraction of what they normally are, and you may have never ventured into some (or all) of them, so it's a good idea to prepare yourself now.

Outland: The Arcatraz

The mighty Tempest Keep was created by the enigmatic naaru: sentient beings of pure energy and the sworn enemies of the Burning Legion. In addition to serving as a base of operations for the naaru, the structure itself possesses the technology to teleport through alternate dimensions, traveling from one location to another in the blink of an eye.

the-arcatraz.jpg

With Outland serving as the strategic battlefront in the ongoing Burning Crusade, the naaru recently used Tempest Keep to reach the shattered land. However, when the naaru set out from their stronghold, Prince Kael'thas and his blood elves quickly raided the dimensional fortress and assumed control over its satellite structures. Now, guided by some unknown purpose, Kael'thas manipulates the keep's otherworldly technologies, using them to harness the chaotic energies of the Netherstorm itself.

Zereketh the Unbound

Most creatures from the Twisting Nether require constant directions from their masters, but a select few voidwraiths need no such orders. Zereketh stands at the entrance to Arcatraz, ready to slay all who would dare challenge him.

Dalliah The Doomsayer

Before she was imprisoned by the naaru, Dalliah was one of the most vicious and aggressive warriors within the Burning Legion. Spending so much time as a cellmate to Wrath-Scryer Soccothrates did not improve her disposition either.

Wrath-Scryer Soccothrates

Millennia ago, Soccothrates held a position of honor among the Wrathguards, standing at the side of the Burning Legion's top commanders. Confinement did not suit his considerable ego. Neither did his cellmate.

Harbinger Skyriss

The naaru believed the persuasive voice of Harbinger Skyriss was silenced when they contained him and forced him into a long, dreamless sleep. The unfortunate warden of Arcatraz learned the naaru were wrong.

Tips

  • Zereketh is known for summoning void zones. Run out of them immediately!
  • Zereketh's Seed of Corruption causes his victim to explode with damage. It's best to stand apart when you're the seedy one.
  • Dalliah's Whirlwind should be avoided by all but the stoutest of tanks.
  • Her Gift of the Doomsayer channels healing to you if you have it. Healers beware!
  • Stay out of Soccothrates' fel fire.
  • The one and only Millhouse Manastorm assists you in your battle with Harbinger Skyriss and his many "friends". Keep Millhouse alive.

Achievements and Reputation

If you’ve not gotten them before, completing this dungeon will award The Arcatraz and Heroic: The Arcatraz, the latter of which is required for Outland Dungeon Hero.

Killing enemies in this dungeon increases your standing with The Sha’tar. For a full breakdown of what you can do with Sha’tar reputation, check out Wowhead and Wowpedia.

Get in there and Fight!

Timewalking dungeons are coming to WoW with Patch 6.2: Fury of Hellfire. Keep an eye out for the weekend-only quest "A Burning Path Through Time", which rewards a Seal of Inevitable Fate when you complete five Burning Crusade Timewalking dungeons.

Are you looking forward to enjoying Timewalking in Patch 6.2?

We have two Corruption fixes today, as the Gushing Wound nerf has finally arrived! There's also a fix for Ineffable Corruption and its effect on lockout times for interrupted spell schools.
      June 2 (source)
      Items and Rewards
Corrupted Items Gushing Wound (Corruption Effect) damage over time effect has been reduced by 35%. Developer’s note: While we try to avoid changes like this outside of regular balance patch intervals, the changes we've made to the Corruption system to make Corruption more targetable and attainable risks turning a rare but powerful Corruption into the optimal choice in nearly every situation. With this reduction in damage, Gushing Wound will remain reasonably powerful in all situations, but will no longer be the most efficient source of damage per Corruption in all situations. Fixed a bug that caused the lockout time of interrupted spell schools to increase when the Ineffable Truth Corruption effect ends.

Update: The second theory has been debunked, as it's predicted items did not show up in today's list!
We have some possibly good news for all the people still chasing their perfect Corruption setup (which would be most players everywhere), as two separate theories have come up predicting which Corruptions will appear at what time in MOTHER's shop. Both theories are based on the Corruptions that we've seen so far, so neither has the full info for all Corruptions yet and both predict entries in different time frames, so their predictions don't conflict with each other.
First off we have Dorovon, from Big Dumb Guild, who has actually datamined some hotfix data and come up with a possible pattern there, with cycles of linked Corruptions repeating. Now, this data might not actually be linked to the vendor at all, but we can't know that yet. From that base, Shiftmage created this spreadsheet which tracks all the upcoming Corruptions, but its first prediction comes on July 16th, as that's when the supposed "cycle" will start repeating.

An additional problem here is that even if the data is linked to the vendor, it might simply randomize the order once it comes to the cycle reset point. We won't know whether any of this is reliable until June 16th, when the first prediction will either come true or not. You can check out the spreadsheet here for more details, and read a more detailed analysis of the datamining itself here.
*The below theory has been proved to be incorrect*
The second theory is much simpler and we'll find out whether it's correct a whole lot sooner - tomorrow on the next reset, in fact! Limit's Imfiredup has created a much more direct prediction, potentially figuring out the pattern for (only) the stat-based Corruptions.

We simply keep in mind we're now on cycle 4, which would indicate the next reset, coming tomorrow, should have Expedient 1 and Versatile 2, so it won't take long to see if this is correct. Just so it's easier to keep track, cycle 5 would be (US) Tuesday's reset, aka 02.06, 6 would be Friday 05.06, 7 would be Tuesday 09.06 and cycle 8 would be Friday 12.06.
You can check out how Imfiredup came to these number in the clip below:

Now, obviously both of these have a lot going against them, and it's all very speculative at this point, but it'll be pretty exciting to see if either of them managed to get it right. Perhaps Blizzard will even see the interest players have in actually knowing when which Corruption will appear and share the correct schedule themselves?

Dredwing mounts are bat-like creatures that are probably native to Revendreth given that the whole zone has a vampire vibe to it. Check out our preview of the mounts for more details.
The mount comes in four colors: green, purple, red, and stone.
      Silvertip Dredwing

      PH Purple Dredwing

      Horrid Brood Dredwing
Harika the Horrid terrorized the denizens of the Forest Ward yet with her demise her broodlings under proper direction can now take this horror to denizens farther afield.
