Patch 6.2 Apexis Crystals - Baleful Gear

Recommended Posts

We take a quick look at the uses for your Apexis Crystals in Patch 6.2 in this guide to acquiring Baleful gear. In 6.2, Apexis Crystals can be traded in for gear that is slightly above the item level of standard dungeon drops, and further upgraded to just beyond the item level of a Normal Hellfire Citadel raid drop.

Baleful Apexis items can be purchased from Ravenspeaker Thelnaas (who you can find in Vol'mar or Lion's Watch, depending on your faction) in Patch 6.2 for 5,000 Apexis Crystals. Baleful items also drop frequently in Tanaan. These item level 650 items are available for every slot (on use, they convert to the appropriate armor type):

inv_boot_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Treads

inv_glove_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Gauntlets

inv_helm_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Hood

inv_pant_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Leggings

inv_shoulder_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Spaulders

inv_chest_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Tunic

inv_ringwod_2b.jpgBaleful Ring

inv_60dungeon_neck2b.jpgBaleful Choker

inv_buckle_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Cloak

inv_jewelry_trinket_22.jpgBaleful Trinket

inv_sword_1h_short_a_01_hd.jpgBaleful Armament

inv_belt_mail_draenorhonor_c_01.jpgBaleful Girdle

These items can in turn be upgraded to item level 695 using spell_arcane_arcaneresilience.jpgEmpowered Apexis Fragment, which cost 20,000 Apexis Crystals apiece. You will also get one spell_arcane_arcaneresilience.jpgEmpowered Apexis Fragment as part of completing the Garrison Campaign content in Tanaan Jungle in Patch 6.2!

Note: There is no cap to the number of Apexis Crystals you can have at a given time in Patch 6.2!

This will be a quick and easy way for characters to gear up efficiently after the patch hits, and worthwhile for any character that isn't already wearing Mythic Blackrock Foundry gear (within reason - set bonuses, etc. are a factor!). Upgraded Apexis gear will only be replaced by Heroic Hellfire Citadel (or better) gear.

Will you be farming Apexis Crystals in Patch 6.2 for gear? Quests, dailies, and bonus objectives in Tanaan Jungle will award Apexis Crystals. Several buffs and bonus events can also improve your rate of crystal acquisition!

Nope, won't ever really use apexis crystals unless they're BoA like the timeless gear tokens were/are.

That's because you're well geared! For people who don't raid too much, it's a good way to gear up tongue.png

So to get a "full set" we are going to need to get 260,000 apex and thats with all the pieces dropping in the jungle (add 65,000 if they don't.) Are there going to be any more fun ways to get crystals other then 800 a day doing the quests?
so if you're only able to do the dailies to get the crystals (I know there are other ways to help speed it up a bit) but that'll take 325 days. for one character?
For someone who hates questing (and is already going to have to do lore-master even though i have no idea where abouts I am on any quest chain) I cant see myself getting the willpower to farm this up. Even though I might need to in order to raid sad.png

Also do we know if Baleful Armament will make a 1h a 2h are we able to set it or is it just going to be random?

Edit: + 20k for a 2nd ring, +20k for a second trinket and +20k for an offhand. +5k for each of you have to buy the base level item too.

Quest values in Tanaan are much higher, and there is no Apexis limit - so you will be able to farm them freely. You likely won't need to spend the 5,000 for the initial drops, so you're only looking at 20k per slot that you need to upgrade (and, bear in mind, you'll have things like Mythic dungeons, bonus events like Timewalking, and upgraded crafting gear as well).

I would've liked the gear if I was able to send it to my Alts.

BoA Epic gear on Timeless Isle(MoP) basically rained down from the sky, but now the Apexis grind is a alt killer.

"Quest values in Tanaan are much higher" - This, This is awesome thank you. smile.png

To give you an idea, I have 80,000 Apexis Crystals from my PTR testing on one of my character and that amounts to like 2 weeks and a half worth of daily quests (and I just did the bare minimum for my testing needs).

Yes weepy there is a small chance for it to "proc" to epic quality.  Not exactly sure on the chance but its great when it happens.

Another week has gone by in Mythic+ and we have plenty of changes, as Shamans surge, Retribution does well and more. This week's tuning hasn0t affected the rankings yet, but we'll see what happens next week!
Note: The logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      This past week was:
      Fortified, Afflicted, Raging
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
You just can't keep Fire down no matter what you do. While the top 2 remains the same, the Mage spec claws back up into 3rd after having gone down for a little while. The Shamans have united and are stronger together apparently, as they take over 5th and 6th, with Enhancement leading the way. The biggest mover this past week was definitely Retribution, as it gains 5 spots in 7th. Fury drops down 3 spots into 8th, just ahead of a very stable Havoc and a resurgent Survival, which leaps 5 up into 10th. Unholy joins Affliction and Assassination in the bottom 3.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
The top 3 is more stable in the generalist bracket, but Fire also rises here, moving quite a bit more, 3 spots in fact. Enhancement is doing better here as well and Elemental is doing even more so, with the melee side of Shamans up 2 in 5th and the spellcaster up a giant 7 spots in 9th! Retribution is up here as well and Fury is down, Windwalker moves down as well and Havoc remains the rock of both rankings, anchoring it all in 10th here.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Tanks
There's been quite the re-shuffle with tanks as we see Paladins on top and Brewmasters way down in 4th after being in the lead at the start of the season. Vengeance has also moved quite a bit up into 2nd, while Blood remains stable in 3rd and Druids and Warriors remain at the bottom.

Tank All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Healers
Shamans reign supreme still, while Discipline takes over 2nd and Holy also rises one into 3rd. Preservation is down two, while the bottom 3 remain the same as at the start of the season.
Healer All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

Pattie's Cap is a new Alpaca mount coming in Patch 10.1.5.
The mount is rewarded upon earning the Whodunnit? achievement in Patch 10.1.5. The achievement references a new holiday called Secrets of Azeroth. We'll cover that in a separate post soon.
      Pattie
Provisionist Kathos encountered Pattie on her first assignment to Vol'dun. Pattie developed an affinity to Provisionist work but is eager to delve deeper, helping adventurers in their sleuthing.

As with other megadungeons, Dawn of the Infinite will be separated into two wings with Mythic+ and Heroic difficulty available in a future update to the game.
This will probably occur at around Season 3 when a new dungeon rotation's added.
The latest Patch 10.1.5 Build 49908 adds entries of two separate wings for the Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon, which means it will be enabled for Mythic+ in the future with Heroic difficulty available:
Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond's Fall - The infinite dragonflight has invaded the Bronze Temple. Help Nozdormu and Chromie take back the Timeways! Dawn of the Infinite: Murozond's Rise - Murozond rises. Race against time with Chromie to correct the past!

Blizzard is adding upgrade tracks for Mythic Item Level 441 gear in Patch 10.1.5.
Currently on live servers you cannot upgrade Mythic gear. However, that's about to change in Fractures in Time when Mythic Gear will receive 3 upgrade ranks.
Rank 1 Upgrade: Item Level 441 > 443 Rank 2 Upgrade: Item Level 443 - 445 Rank 3 Upgrade: Item level 445-447 The change also applies retroactively to Great Vault loot / any loot obtained before the patch goes live, as per Reddit comments.
