Question about ranks and gold.

I can't remember if I was in the Arena or a Brawl, but I saw a message about my opponent and I 'not being high enough rank to earn gold.' I was wondering what rank you had to be to earn gold that way.

Hi,

if you mean "You or your opponent does not meet rating requirements to earn gold.", you have to play some games and should fix itself. Blizzard say it happens because of "abnormal play pattern". However, most players believe it is a bug, since it happens for a few games in a row.
