12-2 TGT Paladin Arena run - Videos and analysis - featuring Loatheb and my MVP Frost Elemental vs. Deathwing and a crazy Taunt Warrior!

1 post in this topic

I recently managed a 12-2 Paladin arena run. This series of games had it all! Everything from facing Bloodknights, to giants, and even Deathwing!!

There was also the curious case of a Shaman with double Mana Tide totems, Hexx, a Kodo and Mukla's Champion. Whatever I did, the Shaman had an answer.

There was also a poor Rogue with terrible RNG. This was the exact opposite to the Shaman. Whatever the Rogue did, it just didn't work out for him! Lots of 'I am sorry' emotes!

My Frost Elemental was the MVP that helped me survive through a number of games. Such a valuable card when you are: a) Trying to survive and build board presence, or B) Trying to win by pushing lethal.

Loatheb was good for me too - at least as a 5/5 body. I am going to assume that he blocked out spells that could have been played on turn 5 onwards. Really good against Mages and Shamans.

There were no Equalities, no Consecrations and no Truesilver Champions. Yet the deck still managed a 12 win run. Coghammer did prove useful - and I would argue it is better than Truesilver Champion due to the divine shield and taunt effect.

The final game to get my 12th win saw me go up against a taunt Warrior. Wow what a tense game. The Warrior had it all - constant taunts, weapons, etc! If a Warrior can make it so far in an arena run, you know the deck must be CRAZY!

I recorded the drafting process and games, and uploaded to Youtube - with audio commentary:

Video 2 - Featuring: Deathwing, an unlucky Rogue, a crazy Shaman with all the answers, and finally a taunt Warrior in the final game!

Hi I've been a semi-active Wow player for 11 years now and been a part of a Raiding Guild for several expansions. Usually I just get by on the guides here on icy-veins or other similar sites for talent and gear recommendations but for Legion it seems in order to tell if something is really a good upgrade or not I'm going to have to start Simming my character myself. Can anyone here recommend a good guide on how to get started with it?
      Thanks for any Replies

Hello, first time poster. I have read many of the threads here regarding Ret dps and most of them seem to be specific to the poster's gear or situation so I'm hoping to get some help with my gear and rotation specifically. I started using Hekili 2 weeks ago and have seen a massive improvement in my DPS. I have gone from almost all gray and green parses to mostly blue with a couple green parses, but I would like to get to purple (80%+). I don't really care about multi target DPS sims as I will always do better on those fights due to Divine Storm spams. Also looking for a little clarification on stat weights. There's definitely a couple items that could be replaced - 4 months of killing Varimathras every week and he refuses to drop Seeping Scourgewing but I got lucky a couple weeks ago and got Aman'Thul's (the dream trinket). Also need the BiS leggo cloak but I keep getting all the other leggos so I'm hoping eventually I will get it.
      Currently sitting at 26% Crit - 26% - Haste - 61% Mastery - 18% Versatility
      Stat weights: https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/jSqu4orZZWC4cMnLteGYx9
      Single Target Sim: https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/wEaDtJGJAKnanpn9Eogy6L
Currently mastery and versatility are my highest weight. So if I change my enchants or gems for more mastery/vers instead of haste, then haste becomes my highest weight, so what is the point of looking at this? What percentages would be ideal?

      Today's Heroic ABT log: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/fwC3ATFPQyZdKz7G/
I am really taking hits on movement fights. What can I do to improve my DPS on heavy mechanic and movement fights like Coven, Imonar, and Garothi? Typically I get hit with a lot decimates and sleep so I have to constantly run in and out which is why I use Crusade for 2 charges. Sometimes I get lucky and don't have to deal with it very much.
I mostly play ranged casters but am having difficulty performing well for my ilvl on those toons too. My 948 enhancement shaman typically pulls 1.5M-1.7M ST which is generally what my pally pulls. So I think I'm just having a hard time with certain classes.
      Thank you.
(I did not include link to armory because armory stats are not updated to what they actually are on mine or any other character that I look up.)

The Sworn is recruiting DPS. We are a Horde guild on Arthas and our current progression is 5/11 Mythic Antorus. We only raid two nights a week, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:15 PM until 12:15 AM Eastern. Currently, our main goal is to push Mythic progression & finish out the raid before next patch, please keep this in mind if you wish to join us, because we will not be doing Heroic or anything like that.
From you, we would expect 100% attendance during your trial period; after that if you cannot make a raid or will be late it is mandatory to keep the raid leader updated. In order to continue making good progression while raiding only two nights a week, we expect that you know your class inside-out and will research any bosses you are unfamiliar with prior to raids.
As far as classes are concerned, at this time, we do not have ANY rogues, DPS warriors, havoc DH, or wind walkers.
If you are interested, add me to battle tag and we will talk (violentravi#1826), I will accept mostly anyone who wants to be a bench or casual, but for raiding purposes, you must be able to provide logs.
      Thank you for your consideration

      Hi everyone,
I, like many others, are trying to maximize DPS for their respective classes, mine in particular being ret paladin.
In general, it seems like there are several sources of information for dps for each class.
Icy Veins Mr Robot Raidbots (Simulation Craft) Warcraft Logs Each with its own set of criteria as to what determines high dps. And I find inconsistency when bouncing between the different sources. I want to understand what am I missing when it comes to each. I will lay out what I currently understand, and would like some feedback as to what I may not be considering in each as well as some advice as to what other options I could be exploring (resources) to further the insight into whats applicable for my current state.
      Icy Veins
For Icy Veins, in particular, the stat weights, are mostly vaguely determined. From the ret guide:
If I am reading this right, its Mastery >= Haste > Ver >= Crit = Str
      Mr Robot
I use the addOn and I subscribe for the Best In Bags function. When I plug in my information in, the site recommends that I go with my 2pce t20 and balance around my legendaries with a focus on haste pieces (haste gems are emphasized).
Stat weights as listed in MrRobot:
      MrRobot Stat Weights
From what I am seeing, Crit is most emphasized, and the one crit gem + ring crit enchants were originally recommended by MrRobot here. Also another notable thing here is haste being way behind crit's potential.
      RaidBots (Simc)
For RaidBots, I use the addOn, and play around with various items I hoard, and use the stat weights functions. Generally the feedback I get here are to stick with the current gem setup and with regards to stat weights, emphasize at my current setup with crit. It also says I should drop some of my high ilvl pieces (935 head, and 960 chest) for 4pce (915 head, lfr 890 chest)
      Gear simc:
      Stat Weights:
      Vers -> crit -> mastery -> haste -> str
      (versitality first?)
      Warcraft Logs
I mostly use Warcraft Logs to check what the top dps players (ret pallys) are hitting and what setups are they running. I don't want to specifically link player armories in here, but upon some investigation, you'll find most are just stacking haste
I understand stat weights are relative, however it seems like everyone has different priorities, one says mastery, another vers, another crit, another haste?
      Help me understand.
