With the Alpha underway, it seems there are a number of people jumping on the hype-train of Legion hoping to scam players out of their accounts. Make sure you read up on our tips for knowing if an invite is a scam or not!

 

It seems there have been enough reported Phishing attempts to warrant a tweet from the official @Warcraft Twitter account. They state that you should not be expecting any e-mails giving you an Alpha invite since they are currently not adding more players. 

 

 

How do you know if an e-mail is a Phishing e-mail? 

 

It's important to understand that if Blizzard e-mails you, they will never ask you for your account information. The only situation this might happen is if you previously opened a ticket to speak to a Game Master and you're required to confirm the account. 

 

Blizzard will also always include your name in the e-mail, addressing you directly. Phishing e-mails will often address you as "customer" or "user". 

 

What should I do if I suspect the e-mail is not legit?

 

The first thing to do is make sure you do not click any links in the e-mail. Many times the links within the e-mail will send you to websites that have a similar domain to the battle.net site, prompting you to log in and view your support page.

 

If you suspect the e-mail is a Phishing scam, make sure to forward the full e-mail to [email protected].

How can I keep my account safe?

 

One of the best ways to make sure your account is kept safe at all times is to download the Mobile Authenticator app, or purchase an authenticator (Amazon UK link) separately. You can also set up the SMS Protect service, while allows you to be kept up to date with any changes occurring on your account. 

 

If you are from Europe, you can no longer buy authenticators directly from the Battle.net store. Instead, check out this list of retailers for European countries.

      If you plan on buying the physical War Within Collector's Edition and live in Europe, you're going to have a bad time!
      Blizzard has ceased distributing WoW Collector's Editions through retailers with the release of Dragonflight, making the Blizzard Store the only place to buy them. However, the shipping costs could be a dealbreaker for many collectors eager to acquire the latest edition for the upcoming expansion.
      Reddit user katamai from Serbia posted a screenshot of their order, revealing that the shipping fees exceed the cost of the box itself—280 Euros for shipping compared to 200 Euros for the box, totaling 480 Euros.

      Additionally, Emi, a follower on our Facebook page, reported a shipping cost of 99 Euros to Romania, nearly ten times what it costs to ship to the UK.

      A practical workaround might be to order the Collector's Edition to a UK address and then use a shipping service to forward it to your address in Europe, potentially saving a considerable amount of money.
