The Mercy Wings, a Diablo 3 vanity item that was originally intended to be awarded to players who purchased the Origins or Collector's edition of Overwatch, are now available for free to all console holders of the Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition.

While it's nice to see the wings ingame, their presence has caused a lot of controversy. First of all, the item is only available on consoles for now and it will be made available to PCs at a later date.

Please note that the Mercy Wings are not yet available in the PC and Mac version of Diablo III, and that you will need to purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition to claim them on that platform. We don’t have a date for when the Mercy Wings will be available on PC/Mac, but will be sure to keep players updated as info becomes available.

More importantly, console players who own the RoS - Ultimate Evil edition can claim the wings for free by simply linking their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One accounts with their account, even without buying Overwatch Origins or Collector's edition. On the contrary, PC players need to pay for the Overwatch Origins or Collector's edition to claim this item on their Diablo accounts.

This is an excerpt from the official post, explaining the reasoning behind this decision:

Q. Why are the Mercy Wings available at no cost to players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

Due to restrictions with the way certain licenses (like cross-game promotional items) can integrate with our games on PS4 and XB1, players who purchase Overwatch™: Origins Edition are unable to claim the Mercy Wings bonus item in Ultimate Evil Edition on those platforms.

Naturally, this has angered a lot of PC players; their claim is that not only are they getting the item later than console players, but they also have to pay for it. Console players of Diablo 3 already enjoy some additional perks and now they get a free vanity item. On the other hand, dedicated PC players, who care both for Overwatch and Diablo 3, need to pay extra for a special edition of Overwatch and they also have to wait more to claim the Mercy Wings in Diablo 3. What is more, the console game is actually cheaper than buying Diablo 3 and the Reaper of Souls expansion for PC.

Objectively, this is not fair and Blizzard should address the issue soon. What do you think?

It seems that pre-orders for Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch are now up in the UK.
Two weeks ago, we wrote about Blizzard teasing Diablo III on Nintendo Switch. While we still have no official confirmation from Blizzard regarding development of the title for Nintento Switch, it appears that pre-orders for the game are now up in the UK. Coolshop added the game to their shop and it can be pre-ordered for 47.95 GBP.
