Blue Posts: Gold Transfer Cap and Epic Battle Pet Stones

Recommended Posts

It looks like the blues have been busy with yet another reverted change, this time caused by a bug when transferring with the new increased transfer cap. It looks like there are also going to be changes to the planned epic pet stones in Legion. Check it out and make sure you're up-to-date!

The first time that players heard about an increase to the gold transfer cap, there was the sound of sheer joy at finally being able to transfer more than 50,000 gold with a level 100 character. With the incredible levels of inflation that Warlords of Draenor brought, this simply wasn't a high enough cap for max level characters.

The cap was intended to be raised to 250k, however technical issues with the service meant that the change ended up being reversed straight back to 50k until they can fix the problems. This was confirmed in a post by Vaegrinn over on the US forums.

That's correct. Apologies, I should have been more clear. There were some issues with the transfer limit when it was first being implemented. Because of those issues, it has been reverted back down to 50k.

In other news, it looks like there will be no epic battle stones coming in Legion, such as icon_upgradestone_epic.jpgImmaculate Battle-Stone. Through an extremely long process of feedback, the developers have since decided that the community feels that the battle stones should not be introduced in Legion, due to the extreme effect they will have on the pet levelling process. Players that have farmed up so many pets to rare will now have the daunting task of farming everything up to epic as well. You can read more about the changes below in a post by Kaivax on the US forums.

Hi everyone!

First and foremost, thank you very much for testing pet battles in the Legion Alpha. We’ve heard your concerns and have decided not to move forward with epic pet battle stones in Legion.

To explain a bit about how we arrived at this point--

When designing rewards for the new battle pet features in Legion and the revamped pet store in Dalaran, we considered epic stones a potential direction to go. Some players are nearing the cap of max-level, all-rare pet teams, and we wanted to see if this space would satisfy their needs for a long-term future level of investment.

You have correctly identified a few of the issues that come up with this feature:
New players now have a harder time catching up (though we could mitigate this by speeding up the early leveling process).
Players with 600+ rare pets that felt as if they were nearing completion of their pet journal are back to having 600+ pets to level.
Power Creep – older content is now easier, future content is harder for new players entering pet battles.

One of the things we like about pet battles is that much of the early content stays relevant through all of the expansions. Similarly, the collection aspect of battle pets works well when it’s wider (more pets to collect, more variety in abilities) rather than taller (more levels). Both of these are very good reasons to avoid adding epic pet stones.

This direction also pushes us to create content that tests max-level-pet-battlers in a way that is not purely numbers, but use of abilities, use of specific pets, and memorization of enemy strategies. The Celestial Tournament was a good example of pet battle content that rewarded a varied and filled pet stable. We have some exciting things in mind for future battles versus tamers!

It’s worth noting that this feature was not intended to replace any gameplay content. We’re working on all sorts of pet battle updates that we’d like to make in future patches.

Thanks again for all of your feedback. We really appreciate your great ideas and discussion!

The axe-wielding, tree-burning dragon has a sense of humor, as he will laugh at anyone that dies to his fire during the raid encounter (and you get an achievement if you didn't get it before!
The Still Standing in the Fire achievement came along with patch 10.1 and Fyrakk Assaults. It was a little tricky to get as you had to find where to stand and die to the fire, which didn't really 1-shot you. Luckily with 10.2, it got a whole lot easier (well, for raiders anyway). The achievement is named after the original, where Deathwing had to kill you either during the Dragon Soul raid or when he was breathing all over Azeroth.
As spotted by ah_kooky_kat, dying to Fyrakk in the raid also triggers the achievement, and he still laughs at you!

The very old-school WeakAura in the screenshot also got a lot of attention the the thread below.

Players on live servers are currently experiencing a bug with negative Tender.
The Trading Post is currently experiencing some issues on live servers with December's updated rotation, as players are reporting negative Tender when checking this month's wares.
While we are not sure what is causing the bug, we've seen many reports of players being rewarded surplus Tender that is removed upon relogging to the game.

Many players are finding it confusing to acquire the Aberrus Raid Finder/Normal set appearances for transmogrification in Patch 10.2. This post is designed to clarify that process.
Currently, the only way to get Aberrus Normal, Heroic, or Mythic set appearances is to run the raid, user50010892 explains on Reddit.
The player catalyzed gear from Dreamsurges and Time Rifts and came to the following conclusion:
8/8 Adventurer Gear from Dreamsurges (item level 450) gave the Aberrus Raid Finder appearance when catalyzed. 8/8 Explorer Gear from Dreamsurges (item level 437 gave the Aberrus Raid Finder appearance when catalyzed 8/8 Adventurer Gear from Time Rifts (item level 450) provided the Aberrus Raid Finder appearance when catalyzed.

In Battle for Azeroth, players were given the choice to side with Sylvanas, but the latest Dragonflight questline involving Odyn lacks any choice leaving Warrior players unhappy.
Back in Battle for Azeroth, Horde players could either side with Sylvanas or against her during the story. Patch 10.2 introduces a similar questline that revolves around Odyn and Vyranoth. If you didn't play through it, I won't go into any spoilers, but Warrior players were not particularly happy with how the questline was executed, as they could not side with Odyn.
As a testament to that, we have the following Reddit thread with over 1.9K upvotes by Reddit user Maleficent-Way-2046 who says "I am a Warrior and have the Battlelord title, I carry Warswords of the Valarjar, why would I side against Odyn?" Well, that's a good question!
Instead, Blizzard could have given Warriors a choice to side with Odyn and some special interactions based on their choice. What do you think?
