Blue Posts: Gold Transfer Cap and Epic Battle Pet Stones

Recommended Posts

It looks like the blues have been busy with yet another reverted change, this time caused by a bug when transferring with the new increased transfer cap. It looks like there are also going to be changes to the planned epic pet stones in Legion. Check it out and make sure you're up-to-date!

The first time that players heard about an increase to the gold transfer cap, there was the sound of sheer joy at finally being able to transfer more than 50,000 gold with a level 100 character. With the incredible levels of inflation that Warlords of Draenor brought, this simply wasn't a high enough cap for max level characters.

The cap was intended to be raised to 250k, however technical issues with the service meant that the change ended up being reversed straight back to 50k until they can fix the problems. This was confirmed in a post by Vaegrinn over on the US forums.

That's correct. Apologies, I should have been more clear. There were some issues with the transfer limit when it was first being implemented. Because of those issues, it has been reverted back down to 50k.

In other news, it looks like there will be no epic battle stones coming in Legion, such as icon_upgradestone_epic.jpgImmaculate Battle-Stone. Through an extremely long process of feedback, the developers have since decided that the community feels that the battle stones should not be introduced in Legion, due to the extreme effect they will have on the pet levelling process. Players that have farmed up so many pets to rare will now have the daunting task of farming everything up to epic as well. You can read more about the changes below in a post by Kaivax on the US forums.

Hi everyone!

First and foremost, thank you very much for testing pet battles in the Legion Alpha. We’ve heard your concerns and have decided not to move forward with epic pet battle stones in Legion.

To explain a bit about how we arrived at this point--

When designing rewards for the new battle pet features in Legion and the revamped pet store in Dalaran, we considered epic stones a potential direction to go. Some players are nearing the cap of max-level, all-rare pet teams, and we wanted to see if this space would satisfy their needs for a long-term future level of investment.

You have correctly identified a few of the issues that come up with this feature:
New players now have a harder time catching up (though we could mitigate this by speeding up the early leveling process).
Players with 600+ rare pets that felt as if they were nearing completion of their pet journal are back to having 600+ pets to level.
Power Creep – older content is now easier, future content is harder for new players entering pet battles.

One of the things we like about pet battles is that much of the early content stays relevant through all of the expansions. Similarly, the collection aspect of battle pets works well when it’s wider (more pets to collect, more variety in abilities) rather than taller (more levels). Both of these are very good reasons to avoid adding epic pet stones.

This direction also pushes us to create content that tests max-level-pet-battlers in a way that is not purely numbers, but use of abilities, use of specific pets, and memorization of enemy strategies. The Celestial Tournament was a good example of pet battle content that rewarded a varied and filled pet stable. We have some exciting things in mind for future battles versus tamers!

It’s worth noting that this feature was not intended to replace any gameplay content. We’re working on all sorts of pet battle updates that we’d like to make in future patches.

Thanks again for all of your feedback. We really appreciate your great ideas and discussion!

The very popular Shadowlands free mount poll is ending in just a few hours (10PM CEST, 3PM PDT), and we're taking one final look at the numbers and the changes since yesterday to see if we can get even more people to push their favorites! It's also really impressive that over 250,000 people have voted in the US and EU alone, with the world-wide total being much higher. And, as we've mentioned before, 2nd and 3rd places will probably also matter, as Blizzard will almost certainly make more than just the winner.
In the EU 5,000 additional people have voted, but the ratios haven't shifted, in fact the percentages are identical to yesterday's:

The US saw even more new entries, with 6,000 players chiming in, but there's still no movement on the percentages there either, as it's going to take a lot more focused support for any of the mounts that aren't the Ancient!

Unfortunately we weren't able to get an updated number from the Asia servers.
It's great to see that many people voting, especially in the last day, as it shows how passionate the WoW community can be. You can also see that in the fan art, which you can check out here, and even some potential similar in-game models here. So get everyone you know to vote for the Spelltome, uh, we mean your favorite, whichever that may be! We totally don't have a favorite!

We have an entrance! As noticed by MrGM, we have an update to the intro quest that kicks things off in the Shadowlands, as a new in-game cutscene has been added which shows off exactly how we're entering the Maw. The cutscene is definitely still work in progress, as you'll see below, but suffice it to say we're entering in style (especially MrGM's Mechagnome, who gets to do the Iron Man/Terminator entrance)!
It's already pretty impressive and will only get better from here, so get your print screen buttons ready for some cool screenshots of your character raining from the sky one Shadowlands arrives! What do you think of the momentous occasion and how it's being presented?

The Revendreth short was quite a dark sight to behold, both in narrative and visual tone, but there were still plenty of striking images to be had, and our old wallpaperist NostraDavid has captured a whole lot of them in 4K! We have 31 images to take a look at (including Garrosh, both screaming and non-screaming) and pick our favorites from this time around, so let's take a look at some of our picks or you can head straight to the imgur gallery for all of them. And don't forget, there's also the Bastion, Maldraxxus and Ardenweald wallpapers to choose from as well!

We recently covered the potential/actual exploit of getting from level 50 to 60 in under 10 minutes on the beta, and Blizzard was quick to address it with today's build, by simply reinstating the equivalent level limit for the item that it had before the squish. However, there is a very simple workaround for the fix, featuring Party Sync. The original method still applies, and you'll have to get a whole lot of Legion mission table XP items using not quite legit means (you can check out the whole process here), but the workaround for the fix is simplicity itself, as Shiekrunner demonstrates in 30 seconds:
This will almost certainly also be fixed soon, but we're just pointing it out in case it does slip by unnoticed, although even if it did it seems awfully brave for anyone to attempt this, as it's very likely it would result in some level of suspension.
