Many of you are probably asking whether Xul is worth the 15,000 Gold. I've tested Xul and you'll find a neat review in here.

Xul the Necromancer has been added to the Nexus Hero roster, at the same time I was testing the Hero out for quite a bit and I'm ready to share some of my observations.

Xul

To sum up Xul, he is a strong pusher, great at sustained AoE damage dealing and has a moderate crowd control. On the other hand, he's susceptible to crowd control (can be brought down easily) and his only survivability boost is provided by Bone Armor.

Pros

  • Given he's a Specialist, he's great at lane pushing.
    • His Trait Raise Skeleton immensely contributes to his lane pushing capability.
  • Can cripple healing effects by up to 75% due to his Mortal Would talent.
  • Build versatility.
  • Bone Prison is a long lasting slow.
  • Bone Armor provides him with a mild survivability boost.

Cons

  • Susceptible to AoE.
  • Weak at Mercenary Camp soloing.
  • Bone Prison requires perfect timing as it has a two second delay.

Abilities

  • Raise Skeleton (Trait)
    • The Trait is basically Sylvanas' Possession minus catapults and Mercenaries and provides Xul with strong lane pushing.
  • Spectral Scythe [Q]
    • A short range skillshot that requires perfect positioning for most effectiveness.
  • Cursed Strikes [W]
    • Slows enemy Attack Speed, making Xul one of the best Specialists.
  • Bone Prison [E]
    • The Hero lockdown ability, should be used whenever chasing escaping Heroes, especially squishies.
  • Bone Armor [1]
    • An activated ability that boosts your survivability whenever you need it.

Heroic Abilities

  • Poison Nova
    • Given the amount of damage it deals, this ability will be picked more frequently than Skeleton Mages.
    • Keeps Nova & Zeratul out of stealth.
  • Skeleton Mages
    • Provides utility.
    • Similar to Tassadar's Force Wall, but the enemy can attack and pass through the skeletons.
    • Great for maps such as Cursed Hollow or Towers of Doom to lock the enemy team out of an objective.

If you enjoy playing Specialists and are still considering buying the Hero note that Xul will make a valuable addition to your roster.

Thanks for the review.

Can you guys please give us a tier list too? You know for all the heroes, which ones are the strongest in the meta right now and which ones are bad and shouldn't be picked, I know every hero has its impact but some heroes like gazlowe, you can't really build a comp around them.

I know there are a lot of websites doing that but some of them are only based on votes from people (which is not bad but imagine lots of unranked players vote nova for tier 1) and some are not being updated regularly.

Don't hotslogs show you the winrate of heros and by that you can determine their power?

It does, but sometimes even winrate will not give a good estimate power ranking. For example if you check the table, Uther has one of the worst winrate, but we see Uther on many big eSports events and he's actually really good, or we see Chen and Vikings on top of the list, chen is not a good tank , no cc and viking dropped in rankings after the nerfs
