Blue Posts: Legion Class Updates

Recommended Posts

16555-blue-posts-legion-class-updates.pn

There have been a number of posts over on the Alpha feedback forums giving insight into future updates for a number of classes. Check them out!

It seems like Blizzard are trying to make sure testers are kept in the loop by informing us ahead of time about changes that didn't quite make it into the most recent build, but are still planned. Personally, I'm loving this forward-thinking, since it gives us insight into fixes that the team has already prepared but haven't quite got it ready yet.

We've condensed all the posts into one large post below. The most notable change is the return of pets to Marksmanship Hunters as a baseline ability. There seems to be a rather mixed bag of emotions surrounding this change, since there was a focus on the Hunter themselves, rather than the use of a pet in Marksmanship. One can hope that the Lone Wolf talent will stay as a top-tier talent, otherwise we might see the differences between the Hunter specialisations begin to disappear again.

Blizzard Icon Planned Class Changes from Legion Feedback Forums

Unholy Death Knight

Hey Unholy Death Knights. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

The artifact’s active ability will be redesigned to be a new temporary cooldown. It will cause all pustulent explosions within a short duration to summon an Army of the Dead ghoul. This should add a bit more gameplay.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Balance Druid

Hey Balance Druids. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

Astral Power generation could stand to be smoother. We’ll start with lowering the size of the spikes of AP generation from talents and the artifact ability. For example, the artifact ability will generate 10/20/40 with each cast. We’re also considering raising baseline AP generate, but not yet sure, as overall AP generation rate is likely a bit high.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Feral Druid

Hey Feral Druids. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

The new version of Open Wounds should help better balance direct and bleed damage, but has the issue of how it works when you refresh/extend Rip with Ferocious Bite and/or Sabertooth. We’ll resolve that in a future build.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Guardian Druid

Hey Guardian Druids. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

Critical Strike is not currently very valuable, defensively, for Guardian Druids. We’ll be adding a passive Critical Strike -> Dodge conversion (rating to rating, not % to %) to solve this, similar to how Protection Warriors, Protection Paladins, and Blood Death Knights have Critical Strike -> Parry.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Beast Mastery Hunter

Hey Beast Mastery Hunters. Here are a few changes that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

One of the most common points of feedback we’ve heard is that all of the specs are cool on their own, but none of them maintain the existing “Hunter + Ranged Weapon + Single Pet” archetype that people have grown attached to (Survival is now Melee, Marksmanship has lost its pet, and Beast Mastery has added a ton of additional pets).

We’re going to try offering a talent choice that will allow you to opt back into having gameplay focus around you and your one strong pet, rather than the many Dire Beasts that it currently does.

Exotic Munitions is being removed, and Dire Frenzy will be added in its place. Dire Frenzy triggers a flurry of attacks from your pet, grants an attack speed buff for several seconds, and immediately generates some Focus. It has a 15sec cooldown. It will work with all other talents and abilities that interact with Dire Beast, such as Wild Call (chance to reset its cooldown), One With the Pack (higher Wild Call chance), Dire Stable (more Focus generation), and Bestial Wrath (cooldown reduction on use). And if you get lucky with Wild Call procs, you will find that the attack speed buff can stack.

Keep those in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Marksmanship Hunter

Hey Marksmanship Hunters.

Marksmanship losing its pet has been one of the most impactful, but contentious changes we’ve made this expansion. We’re going to try returning the pet to Marksmanship, baseline, along with Lone Wolf as a level 15 talent (and very competitively tuned), so that this is a choice again.

Exotic Munitions is being removed, and Black Arrow will be moving down to where it was, since the Lone Wolf + Black Arrow combination proved to be very popular and fun (the newest version of Black Arrow, where the minion reliably spawns and taunts the target, that is).

Keep those in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Survival Hunter

Hey Survival Hunters. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

Dragonsfire Grenade will have its design adjusted a bit to be thrown at your target, making it less like a trap.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Mistweaver Monk

Hey Mistweaver Monks. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

We’re planning to add a bit of rotational synergy with Essence Font, by making Refreshing Jade Wind also increase the healing of Essence Fonts casted while it’s active.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Subtlety Rogue

Hey Subtlety Rogues. Here’s a change that didn’t make it into today’s build, but we’re planning for a soon upcoming build:

The Level 30 talent row will be adjusted to work with Shadow Dance. This is partially implemented in today’s build, so you’ll see some evidence of this. For Subtlety, Nightstalker and Shadow Focus will apply to Shadow Dance as well as Stealth, at a reduced effectiveness. And Subterfuge for Subtlety will also slightly increase the duration of Shadow Dance.

Keep that in mind for feedback on this build! Thanks!

Blizzard have clarified why players are able to get a full Spark of Awakening through the two available Splinters in the first week of Dragonflight Season 4, and it seems it's only for this week and only due to catch-up rules being enabled!
      Splintered Spark (Source)
Just want to confirm this with some details.
Everyone essentially started Season 4 in catch-up mode. Players were able to get 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening from the weekly quest, whether that’s the weekly “Last Hurrah” quest or the PvP weeklies offered by Malicia.
And then you’re able to get another splinter / half-spark from any valid catch-up sources, such as Mythic+, Awakened Raids, and PvP wins.
Next week and thereafter, only one Splintered Spark is obtainable every week. And like Seasons 2 and 3, with the increasing cap on Splintered Sparks per week, and if you ever fall behind you will be able to get Splintered Sparks from any catch-up source.

It seems there may be an easier way to obtain the Tusks of Mannoroth appearance during the Mists of Pandaria Remix event!
The tusks are one of the rarest transmogs in the game currently, even with the recently added Siege of Orgrimmar skip, as their drop rates are VERY low (0.1-0.3%, reportedly). As spotted by MrGM, the new Tusks of Mannoroth are a cosmetic appearance item added in the new limited time event. Now, some have suggested they may just be purchasable from the Bronze vendor (the currency that will drop off of pretty much anything in the event), making them pretty easy to get, but it seems there might be a different way to get them.
It's unclear whether the cosmetic will actually be purchasable or if it will drop somewhere else, but another interesting Mannoroth-related item was added as well, the Bones of Mannoroth, which may be related to the cosmetic.

As you can see the bones are a stackable resource you gain from killing Garrosh, and it's looking like they're a way to guarantee the Tusk appearance with enough kills! Just how many drop is unclear, but assuming you need all 20 for the appearance and that Normal drops 1, Heroic 2 and Mythic 3 bones, it may take at least 7 weeks to get them. Now the number required might be/is likely to be lower than the 20  stack maximum, and we may get more bones per kill.
But even at 7 weeks it's much, much easier to get than the current "hope for 0.3%" in retail, so it's still a pretty good deal! This may or may not upset players that farmed for the tusks for a long time the regular way, but there's a whole lot players that will be thrilled!
The Remix: Mists of Pandaria event starts on May 16th and should last until August 19th.

Blizzard is retiring the WoW Companion app with the release of the War Within pre-patch.
      (Source)
With the release of The War Within™ pre-expansion content update, we will no longer support the WoW Companion App. After this date, players will not be able to update, download, or use the companion app and its features.
We want to thank everyone who has used the app as their companion for their adventures over the years!

If you plan on buying the physical War Within Collector's Edition and live in Europe, you're going to have a bad time!
Blizzard has ceased distributing WoW Collector's Editions through retailers with the release of Dragonflight, making the Blizzard Store the only place to buy them. However, the shipping costs could be a dealbreaker for many collectors eager to acquire the latest edition for the upcoming expansion.
Reddit user katamai from Serbia posted a screenshot of their order, revealing that the shipping fees exceed the cost of the box itself—280 Euros for shipping compared to 200 Euros for the box, totaling 480 Euros.

Additionally, Emi, a follower on our Facebook page, reported a shipping cost of 99 Euros to Romania, nearly ten times what it costs to ship to the UK.

A practical workaround might be to order the Collector's Edition to a UK address and then use a shipping service to forward it to your address in Europe, potentially saving a considerable amount of money.
How much does it cost to ship the box to your country?
