Leasing Affliction as off spec for solo raid bosses

I will probably get several questions getting to know the aff lock, so I will type here regularly. Hope for guidance from you.

Sometimes, A yellow border appears around my Haunt and Soulburn. What does that Mean?

Does it mean some kind of proc, like with Shadowburn when target is below 20 percent hp?

It signifies that you got a proc of nightfall which gives you a soulshard which can be spent on those two abilities. It does not actually affect those abilities directly.

Is Nightfall proc also the one showing the two purple "things" on the left and right side of the center screen? Like the Frost Mage when he gets procs on the Icicles?
