Introduce Yourself

Recommended Posts

So to try and get more of a community feel to the place thought I would start a thread to introduce yourselves. Give a little background on your character, how long you've been playing and anything else you think might be interesting! Feel free to give a little promo for your guild as well if you like!

I've been playing Warcraft for around 5 years now. My home is Bronze Dragonflight on the EU servers. I did originally start playing WoW on release of the US version way back when it all began, but with the time differences it was too tough to try and get any real interaction with players and guilds so took a break and came back to the game on the EU side towards the end of TBC.

My main character has been Merridur for about 4 years, an alliance holy priest. Sadly other than Kara I did'nt really get into raiding at all, and my first proper tier of raiding was Naxx at the beginning of Wrath.

I've always enjoyed roles of responsibility and after a few minor roles in guilds I decided it was time to create my own. Foundation (sadly there are loads of guilds with this name) has been a great place for me to make decent friendships while playing WoW, and weve had a really good atmosphere both raiding and socially. Due to the dynamics of the group (and our skill level), weve always set ourselves the goal of clearing the content on normal, rather than really pushing the heroic modes.

I've been GM and Raid Leader for the majority of Wrath and the whole of Cataclysm and I've loved every minute of it. Sadly I think by the time MoP is released I may have to take a bit of a back seat in the RL department and let someone else have a chance.

Feel free to browse my links below, and laugh at my progress / gear ;)

I've been playing since the seond week of the EU release. At the time I beliece I played on Azune. First toon I made with my bff and sadly all the 'good' dual names were taken (we couldn't be rum and coke or chips and cheese, so depressing) so ended up being called erm ketchup which in turn got shortened to ketch... When Burning Crusade came out I took a bit of a break, came back after a year, got a new account. After getting a toon up to max was then convinced to move to Outland so started AGAIN and now I mainly play a hunter (Alierya). I have always played hunters to be fair!

I moved realms to join HI (http://high-infidelity.wowstead.com/) where I have been ever since. I took over as RL during firelands as no one else could be bothered to do it (amid many 'woman driver' jokes on baleroc) and about 8 or 9 months ago got promoted to officer. It's now ran by myself and another HI oldie; just got a new guy in to help us out. It is nice to be able to change things although after losing many of our original members to other games/break etc it's about getting some of the banter back!

Generally I go out at the weekend (not just to the pub ffs the reputation I have!) so tend to be online mainly in the week. Currently I am back in the homeland although I spent about 5 years in Manchester. Glad to be back though mostly... From the bacon thread you may have guessed I know a bit about food... it being the subject that I teach. Good stuff.

I started playing in April 2009 with Vlad and a few other friends. For a year and a half, we played in the guild we created, and managed to get decent heroic progress in ICC 10. The guild sort of died towards the end of Wrath of the Lich King. We were so bored and inactive, that many players left. We tried to rebuild the guild for Cataclysm, but it didn't really work out.

Soon after (early 2011), we started working on Icy Veins and joined a much better progression guild on our server. Quickly, we realized that we didn't need to play that much to write good raiding and class guides, so we started playing less to free time for doing extensive research on everything we write about.

Other than that, I am a computer scientist and I specialize in Format Methods for analyzing and verifying concurrent systems.

I finally started playing in 2010, just after children's week. I am the better half of Peelyon. Obviously this means that I'm also in Foundation on Bronze Dragon Flight.

I initially levelled a Mage but ended up dinging my hunter, Neridae, to level 80 first and she became my main - these are both now level 85. I also have a level 85 priest and am trying to level up a few other characters for the classy achievement (all for the good of the guild! ;p)

I really enjoy our guild. We may only be small but we have such a laugh and it's great logging in and playing with people who I consider to be friends. We had a meet up in December 2011 and it was a fantastic weekend away in Llandudno - everyone was exactly what you thought they'd be like and there is a meet up on the cards for some point this year hopefully.

I started playing 5 weeks before Wrath of the Lich King launched. I hit level 70 2 days before Wrath launched and joined a guild that raided Naxx 10 as a Protection Paladin. Met a girl who hated WoW and I unfortunately allowed her to convince me to get rid of my account. Got rid of said girl (for obvious reasons, many more than the girl who won't allow you to enjoy your hobby) and came back right as ICC launched. Took up my old role of a Protection Paladin, put my own guild together, and got to 11/12 rather quickly. Some people in the guild made it intolerable for me to remain a part of (I lead a group of 8 friends) and decided I should venture to greener pastures. Met a new girl who had played since Vanilla and we both decided to take a leap of faith and jump to Shattered Hand.

I put a guild together here and lead my boys and gals through all of Tier 11 and into Firelands as a Warlock. Server died and it was impossible to find replacements. I was a bit bummed as I even went as far as to help a guildmate begin the legendary quest before me. I took my Paladin and my Warlock to Mal'Ganis while deleting 8 85s of all the other classes. I landed on Mal'Ganis, found a guild, completed my legendary, and began to raid lead this guild and got realm first Heroic Morchok while clearing DS the first week it was out (hardly an accomplishment, I know, but still cool). Drama ensued, I left, found a better guild, and became a part of the 114th 10 man group to down Heroic Madness in the world. Stayed with this group for about 2 months after our H Madness kill, and drama ensued (strange how this always happens in a video game with egos...) so I decided to put my own guild together again. I've since found a group of mature, non-loot driven players who enjoy playing with other like minded professionals who realize this is a game but still play at a competitive level. We now have a doctor in training, a lawyer, two teachers, two programmers, two engineers, a stay at home dad, and an open spot. I continue to believe this game's level of enjoyment comes from the people you play with, not the purple pixels most people care about.

Outside of Azeroth, I'm an industrial engineer who is currently employed as a contract specialist for West Virginia University Hospitals. Short story: I'm a good guy in the insurance world. I'm newly engaged (3/3/2012) to the most wonderful woman I could have met...she's an amazing WoW player who is striving to become a doctor. I couldn't have found a better woman to be my better half and the future mother of my children. I play in a softball league, play poker regularly, and thrive on making contributions to communities everywhere, whether it's the Special Olympics, Warlock forums, or just someone needing an ear to listen. Never be afraid to hit me up with any question about anything!

Fun story about my WoW career development: So my first character was a Paladin. I remember grinding through mobs, quests, and having a blast. I was questing in Hillsbrad Hills as a Blood Elf Paladin and I ran into a Druid of the same faction. He greeted me and watched as I fought mobs. He asked why I wasn't using my mana. I asked him what mana was. He told me. I felt stupid. I was level 28, playing a paladin, and had no idea I could use magic. I had gotten to level 28 through white hits and Holy Light alone. Just goes to show you that you can go from being a complete noob to a powerful force in this game with a little guidance and some help from your friends. Remember that when someone asks you for help =D

Hi everyone! I'm Stoove and I keep accidentally pressing the "back" button on my mouse =.=

I started playing WoW pretty much when it released - I was a traditional Huntard back then (and I was so young I probably inadvertently helped to popularize the term). Since then I've had a long history of doing pretty much whatever I enjoy at the time - from farming to raiding.

When Cata released, I returned from a long break and started playing a Shaman healer - since then my WoW career has been all about raiding, healing, and playing to my absolute best. I've raid led, I've been in the top few progress guilds on my server. I've never met a healer I couldn't compete with; when I do, I won't stop until I can.

For me, WoW is all about doing what you find fun. That's raiding for me, but I know that other people like other things. I'm only at the top of my game when the challenge makes it worth it... but then oh boy is it worth it! I find that WoW brings about lots of new friends and new opportunities, and I love it. What I love most, most of all, is the community which builds up around WoW - and that's why I'm here.

By day, I'm a nerd with a penchant for Physics and an A-level in timewasting. I'm currently doing a Masters level degree in Physics (of course), and looking forward to doing a PhD! Ask me about anything theory related - I love the chance to get good and nerded up! ^_^

Got rid of said girl (for obvious reasons, many more than the girl who won't allow you to enjoy your hobby)

Good on ya Posted Image

I hated WoW once upon a time, many moons ago. Now I'm hooked! Sneaky husband 'Just play this game, level my characters up with Triple XP and you never have to play again' Posted Image

Last time I ever listen to him!
