The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here! A new zone is up on the Alpha, as well as the Brewmaster Monks! Check out all the changes here.

Blizzard Icon Celestalon

Hey all,

We have another alpha build going up today. Some fairly significant updates are included:

New Specialization Unlocked – 1 more additional specialization is ready for testing. We’d love any and all feedback about gameplay, artifact quest line, abilities, etc.
  • Brewmaster Monk – Note: The designs of the enemies you fight in this questline are still incomplete. Also note, Brewmasters are likely very overpowered in this build; we plan to increase the base recharge time of Ironskin and Purifying Brews substantially in the next build.
Class Status – We’ve made many iterations based on feedback and testing. Here are some highlights:
  • Taunts – Taunt abilities are now once again class-wide, instead of only available on tank specializations.
  • Retribution Paladin – Several talents revised and rearranged.
  • Subtlety Rogue – Level 30 talents adjusted to work with Shadow Dance.
  • Blood Death Knight – Adjusted and clarified how Death and Decay interacts with single target abilities.
  • Unholy Death Knight – Revisions to several rotational abilities, and several talents.
  • Fire Mage – Living Bomb changed; it now spreads automatically on explosion, rather than when you cast Inferno Blast.
  • Feral Druid – Area damage abilities increased in effect significantly.
  • Windwalker Monk – Storm, Earth, and Fire damage increased significantly, making them useful on 2+ targets.
  • Marksmanship Hunter – Lone Wolf has moved back to being a talent, instead of baseline. Several talents rearranged and revised.
  • Balance Druid – Moonfire and Sunfire now generate Astral Power on cast. Couple revisions to talents.
  • Beast Mastery Hunter – Several talents revised. In particular, Exotic Munitions has been replaced with Dire Frenzy, a replacement for Dire Beast for those Hunters that prefer to focus on improving their main pet.
  • Shadow Priest – Void Bolt now refreshes, rather than extends, Vampiric Touch and Shadow Word: Pain. Vampiric Touch and Shadow Word: Pain now generate Insanity on cast, and their durations have been adjusted. Dominate Mind renamed back to Mind Control, and usable on players. Psychic Horror removed.
  • Vengeance Demon Hunter – Significant rearrangement of the talent tree and some new talents added, including the final level 110 option. Empower Wards, a new baseline ability, added as an active defense against magic damage. Siphon Power replaces Scorched Ground on the artifact, to interact with Empower Wards.
Artifact Trait Status – Nearly all traits are implemented at this point; only a few remain non-functional, or to-be-redesigned. (Tuning is still yet to come, of course.)
  • Havoc Demon Hunter – Several traits revised.
  • Retribution Paladin – Wake of Ashes redesigned.
  • Unholy Death Knight – Apocalypse active ability redesigned. Several traits redesigned.
  • Demonology Warlock – Several traits revised.
  • Windwalker Monk – Several traits revised.
  • Feral Druid – Several traits revised.
  • Restoration Shaman – Several traits revised.
  • Affliction Warlock – Several traits revised.
  • Frost Death Knight – Several traits revised.
PvP Talent Status – We’ve also revised several PvP talents:
  • Retribution Paladin – Several talents revised to be more attractive choices.
  • Protection Paladin – Several talents replaced with new ones.
New Zone: Azsuna!
  • This zone is now open and ready for testing. Please give it a try and let us know what you think!
New Feature: Order Hall Campaigns!
  • We’ve added the Order Hall Campaigns for all currently available specs of the Monk (including Brewmaster), Shaman, and Warlock.
  • Accessing these new campaigns and missions will require you to create new characters to experience this new content.
  • Feedback on these campaigns and missions would be especially valuable right now!
Thanks, and we look forward to your feedback!

Also, check out the design notes from the previous build, if you haven't already as well: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20742804744

Yeah, the changes around Hunter are interesting, since this is the build MM is getting a pet back. I do wonder whether the change will make it to live or not.

The Warcraft universe Cosmology chart is one of the of the most important pieces of art we have, as it showcases the basic and primal forces of everything, so it's no surprise it's gotten quite a few makeovers recently. AJT_GameArt is back once again, improving his previous rendition once again, with some better images and characters associated with the various cosmic forces, including new Shadowlands figures!
You can check out the reddit thread below for different versions of the piece, with and without the text, but it's

Raid buff scrolls won't be returning and Blizzard also nerfed class buffs down to 5% in Shadowlands, so the removal of the Engineering battle rez was something entirely possible to give classes with combat-resurrection capabilities more prominence in raids.
Fortunately, it is not going anywhere. Disposable Spectrophasic Reanimator was added in the recent Shadowlands Beta Build, and the item can be used by Engineers for combat resurrection. It still comes with the chance to backfire and kill the caster instead of resurrecting an ally.

Shadowlands comes with tons of new customization options, but some of them are locked behind specific skin tones, hairstyles, and more, which is an apparent downside of the feature.
Reddit user Nihux noticed that if you want to use Faces 16-30 on Human Females, you will be locked to a specific set of skin tones, and the games won't allow you to use those faces with other skin tones, and vice versa.

Faces 1-15 are locked to the first set of skin tones.

Faces 16-30 are locked to the second set of skin tones.

Faces 31-45 are locked to the third set of skin tones.
The restriction also applies to the new hair colors that can only be used with the new hairstyles, as pointed out by  Reddit user Katur.
The restriction is in place for other customization options such as scars tied to specific eye color options. When you pick a different scar, your eye color will change automatically, and vice versa.

Reddit user RlySkiz says it's due to age of the WoW engine that cannot handle texture recoloring while it is running, so every hairstyle + hair color or face has their own model/texture that loads. There isn't a blank model that gets colored based on what option you pick.

In the latest blog post, Blizzard outlined changes to the Recruit A Friend system coming in the Shadowlands pre-patch.
Starting with the pre-expansion patch, characters created by a recruited friend will receive a 30-slot bag (Extra-Spacious Knapsack) upon completing Exile's Reach, the new player experience. Note that characters recruited before the Shadowlands pre-patch will not receive Extra-Spacious Knapsack.
Experience Boosts that are currently active for recruited players and recruiters who party together will be removed before the launch of Shadowlands. Other rewards that come with the program remain unchanged.

      RECRUIT A FRIEND UPDATES
With the upcoming release of Shadowlands and the leveling adjustments that come with it, we’re making a few changes to Recruit A Friend. Beginning with the release of the pre-expansion patch, characters who are created by a recruited friend* will receive a unique 30-slot bag—the Extra-Spacious Knapsack—upon completing their adventure in Exile’s Reach as a part of the new player experience. The additional experience boost that currently exists for recruited players and recruiters who party together will be phased out before the launch of Shadowlands. All other rewards available with the Recruit A Friend program will continue to be available for recruiters.
*Players who are recruited prior to the release of the Shadowlands pre-expansion patch will not receive the new 30-slot bag, the Extra-Spacious Knapsack.

We're looking at some terrifying texture/model bugs from the Shadowlands Beta, shared by Software Engineer Matt Yan on Twitter.
The first bug makes the Worgen model look like a Trogg and second one is really difficult to describe, and I don't even want to know what happened to the poor Pandaren.
