Resto Druid and Mythic Fel Lord tips

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Just looking to see if anyone has any tips for a resto druid on mythic fel lord.  We worked on him and almost beat him last night but I have not been able to find any recommendations on mythic fel lord.  Specifically, are there any talents recommended for the encounter?

Thanks

Berdine

Hi there :)

First of all, Displacer Beast is amazing. It can help an incredible amount when moving for seeds.

I'd take Ysera's on 30.

Incarnation on 60.

Heart of the Wild on 90.

HotW is pretty amazing to have during his disarmed phase, but in all honesty, a ring pop + tranquility should make it pretty easy to breeze through.

Have you got a log to look at? Might be easier to give tips if we know what you're doing already :)

Yeah, I am pretty much doing all of that.  This was my best pull.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/gzpyTwkXj89dv7AH#type=healing&fight=26

1) Work more on your Lifebloom uptime.

2) I took a look at your armory and saw that you weren't using glyph of blooming. With the class trinket and set bonus this is a really important glyph to take. Replace your glyph of stampede with blooming and you should be good to go. Other than that your talents and glyphs look fine.

3) The mythic Fel Lord fight isn't super healing intensive unless people really mess up. As long as you're healing up befouled in a timely manner outside of the raid group you shouldn't take huge damage unless latent explodes.

4) Focus on being aware of who is soaking pools and make sure they are getting the heals they need. If you fall behind on this or are out of place the fight can get pretty hairy.

5) 10 people in your group did not use 2 potions. A few didn't use any. This is just one quick issue that I found but if you're looking to kill the boss make sure to examine not only your own performance but also the rest of your raid. It's not just you that kills a boss. It's a team effort :)

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I really didn't know that the bloom glyph was a good way to go.

And yes, thanks for mentioning about the people using pots.  That is very important.

Have you tried not using Heroism on pull? On progress in my guild we saved it until boss reaches 30%

I don't see any advandage of doing that, except maybe your whole raid has executes and Lust just boosted them insanely. Other than that - Boss has no enrage mechanics, so popping everything up at the start is the way to go. At the begining of the fight every CD is up, everyone has potion, everyone has ring, and most importantly - everyone is alive.

So this part is interesting.  I did a little research and there are only a couple fights I would recommend using the blooming glyph.  Specifically on fights where people get big dots on them.  So off the top of my head, Kilrogg, Socrethar and Council stand out as good fights for the blooming glyph.  Not sure about any others.  Its a great glyph but your free regrowths, that save you mana, will no longer refresh your lifebloom.  So thats a bit of a pain in the ass.  Big mana issue there.  Now if you have a guild that is downing these mythic bosses in 2 minutes or below, its not an issue.  But if you are going 4-6 minutes on these mythic bosses, its not worth it.  At least thats what I think.

Thoughts?

I understand where this could be an issue. However I'm not quite sure why your Lifebloom uptime would be so low if you weren't using the glyph. Could you please link your UI screen shot of you in raid combat while tracking hots on raid members. This could be an easy fix with an adjustment of your UI to better help you track Lifebloom uptime. The fact of the matter is that while Lifebloom has a low mana cost the synergy of the set bonus with the class trinket and glyph of blooming is very strong. If you are more comfortable with not using it then I guess that's up to you but make sure to focus on Lifebloom uptime regardless of your spec.

So yes, I am using weakauras to track my harmony, lifebloom and wild mushroom.  Frankly, I am kind of surprised its that low.  I did a little looking and it seems to be on some of the more high mobility fights that I let my lifebloom drop off below 90%.  For most of the, I am around 98% but fel lord and for that matter, iron reaver seem to have low percentage.  In the 80% bracket.  So that is something I have to look at.  It shouldn't be that low so its something to pay attention too.  But my UI is setup to let me know when lifebloom goes off.  So I will have to look at that.

As for the blooming glyph, I am gonna try it out on the fights i mentioned, council, kilrogg and socrethar.  I think those are the fights I can see it be very useful.  But for the rest, I would expect that the glyph would just cause overheal for no good reason.

And i just figured it out.  Its how we are reading the logs.  So for the pull i linked, it has my lifebloom at 87%.  However, I was only alive for 97% of the fight.  That is what is measures up against, not the full 100% of the fight.  So i was 10% off, which is still low but not as bad as I thought for some of the other fights.  For the fights that I am up till we kill it, my lifebloom is well into the 90% range.  So its all good.

One last thing.  I took a look at resto druids in my ilvl bracket and they do not automatically glyph blooming.  about 1/3 of the resto druids on mythic socrethar, at least of the top 10, use that glyph.  So its not a gimme :)

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.

Hello everyone! When i downloaded the recent shadowlands expansion, i noticed that my macros no longer worked =0. This is not a single target DPS  macro, this is a Help / Harm selective macro So i did some digging to find out what was goin on, An example of this would be : /cast [help] Innervate ; [harm] Entangling Roots ; Innervate.  This macro utilizes one button for a dual purpose. if i am targeted on friend i innervate them while if i and targeting a opponent it would root them in place. This structure is now broken but has also made things easier in most cases, After doing some digging i discovered some new macros and the new format. Some examples of the new way to write this would be :
       #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]innervate
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Regrowth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Wrath
      #showtooltip
      /cast [harm,nodead][@target,harm,nodead]Moonfire
      /cast [help,nodead][@target,help,nodead]Rejuvenation
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Wild Growth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
This is what they call a fall through macro, If the first line of code is not available because of a cooldown or if the Help or Harm selection, it will fall through to the next line of code. This works especially well for balance druids, shaman, and hybrid healing classes that use a ton of buttons. You can cut the amount of keys you need press in half which saves space and prevents accidentally pressings the wrong button. I like to pair my spells by the time it takes to cast, Instant casts with instant casts. They also introduces a mouse over macro for heals and rebuffs which is really good for world PVP. One of the better macros iv'e seen is a mouse over Rebirth :
       #showtooltip Rebirth
      /cast [@mouseover,help]Rebirth;Rebirth
      #showtooltip Remove Corruption
      /cast [target=mouseover,help,nodead][target=target] Remove Corruption

If you are going to try and make your own macro, you should keep in mind
1: The Global Cool Down or GCD which is the time it takes between 2 casts and
2: Not all of your spells and trinkets share a GCD, so you are able to cast 2 or 3 spells at the exact same time as long as it doesn't share a GCD.
      I hope this helps!
