Affliction Warlock 7.3

Recommended Posts

Guest Xatez

I'm confused on the Contagion section of the guide. Am I supposed to just constantly keep Unstable Affliction on the target or am I supposed to just apply 2-3 and then drain?

I understand that during specific buffs I would probably want to 2-3 and then drain but what about when I don't have big buffs like heroism/Trinket Proc/etc..

It's pretty much exactly as it says in the rotation section, in practice:

  1. 2x UA
  2. Reap
  3. Drain until UA expires
  4. Tap (if necessary)
  5. Fillers until you have shards
  6. Refresh DoT effects & repeat

Ideally you want to fit in your PS before your UA casts; many Warlocks make the mistake of 2x UA - > Reap  -> PS -> Drain. PS only benefits from 2 traits so missing out on Reap for a few globals does not affect your damage much compared to wasting globals of UA without the MG buff.

Question about the rotation. It says in guide "Use Drain until UA expires". Is that all instances of UA? Meaning if the target has 5 on him, I need to wait until they're all expired before going through the rotation again?

Cheers for a great guide

Yes, you should unless Agony is going to fall off (though ideally you see this before applying said UAs and refresh before applying them).

Afflic is still doing incredibly well on fights like Host and Inquisition. It was a bit silly having Affliction warlock being top on every fight, in nearly every style of fight.

Have so many questions by now! (Have started playing warlock 3 weeks ago)

1. Why is intellect at the last place if it buffs our overall damage? I understand, simcraft says that, but i'm not sure if I should put all mastery-gems instead of 2 mastery-gems + 1 int-gem.

2. How do I perform my opener in a right order? Agony, corruption. lifesteal, UA+UA, soul reap, Phantom, drain? Or where should phantom go?

3. What is better: lfr 4-part bonus + lower secondary stats or 2-part lfr bonus + higher secondary stats? Can't get it. Simcraft says different things everytime I perform simulation.

4. The last one by now, I guess. Should I re-simulate my charackter with scaling after every peace of gear that is new to calculate the stats weight or no? Or will the simulation without scaling be enough?

Thanks in forehand!

It buffs our overall damage, but it doesn't interact with anything. There is no specific interaction with intellect on procs and such. Crit, for example, might have a chance to reset an ability because of a passive. Things like this don't exist with intellect, it's just a flat damage increase. Use 1 intellect gem and the rest Mastery (you can only equip one Saber's Eye intellect gem).

This is covered in the guide:

https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/affliction-warlock-pve-dps-rotation-cooldowns-abilities

You'll find it at the bottom under opening rotation.

Depends on the set and depends on the gear you are upgrading to. Your best bet of comparing is to use something called Raidbots. It is far more user friendly than SimC and you will likely find that you get better comparisons. https://www.raidbots.com/simbot

Yes, you should. As I suggested above, Raidbots will be easier for you to use than SimC for this :)

Is there a way to sim the different minions?  I can't say I'm a huge fan of the doomguard, and I'm not really doing anything with my lock that requires the best of everything, although I still like to do the best I can.  I enjoy using the Felhunter, and I am mostly curious what the dps difference between them two minions are.  I have little knowledge of putting in proper code into SimC or Raidbots, but I can follow instructions well.  Thanks

Just wanna mention that you made the same mistake as on the Demonology guide and mentioned using Havoc for additional benefit here as well in the mortal coil section

Differences, approximated, just to give you an idea. The DPS figures are not real, but the relative amounts are for their contributions.

If Doomguard is top at 10K, then:

  • Felhunter will range from 7200-9000 depending on number of DoTs currently on the target.
  • Infernal will be at around 8000.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Hello guys, made my way through handling the warlock and faced such an issue:

Neither Simcraft nor Raidbots are able compare relics. They just can't find an item from databases. Could somebody help me with that?

My setup is 890 Shadowy Incantations + 910 Perdition + 925 Perdition. I'm considering to swap my 910 perdition relic with 905 Shadowy Incantations but can't find out if it will either increase or decrease my dps.

Thank you in forehand!

It will decrease. Perdition > SI.

I have a question regarding the Netherligt Crucible Tier 2 priorities.

Why Murderous Intent (+1500 Versa while concordance active) is ranked higher than Shocklight (+1500 Crit, same condition), when stat priority prefers Crit over Versa?

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
