d3 Diablo 4 Conspiracy Theory from Rhykker!

6 posts in this topic

DH2BoVz.jpg

Check out this conspiracy theory about the dice that were included in the Blizzcon package from Rhykker!

Firstly, let's just make sure that everyone understands:

This is just a theory.

There is no guarantee that this is definitely correct, it might just be nothing, but it's always fun to speculate!

Check out the video from Rhykker below and make sure to check out his YouTube for more content:

So, what do you think? Could this be a genuine hint from Blizzard towards Diablo 4? We've seen some serious scavenger hunts going on in Overwatch for new heroes, so this definitely wouldn't be out of character. Are we simply just looking for what we want to see? You decide and let us know below!

It's a wild guess, and hard to believe that a new diablo game comes out so soon after Blizzard moved some developers from Diablo to WoW, and then some of the developers left Blizzard for good. High priority projects like Legion and Overwatch are budget killers, can they really risk releasing Diablo 4 with a weaker team compared to other games and even Diablo 3.

But the hints are interesting, D4 dice, 11/4 , how can you explain it otherwise...

If this is a print error then as he said somebody's gonna get fired :D

I think it would be so strange for this to be a print error. Let's be honest, there are DEFINITELY D&D players at Blizzard, there's no way there aren't. Quality control would have immediately identified problems with the dice, no? If this is really just a mistake, then I agree, someone is getting fired!

In my opinion using what Blizzard has been doing with Overwatch (i.e. the hidden codes) to justify the possibility of this theory is like comparing apples to oranges.  Yes Blizz has been really stepping up their marketing game with Overwatch by releasing hidden messages or codes, but if you take it in the context of the game itself, it kind of makes sense.  Overwatch involves at least two clandestine, special ops groups (Blackwatch and Talon).  The normal functions of either of those organizations involves codes, code breaking, aliases, undercover work, and espionage.  My point is that the codes and clues serve a direct purpose of tying the fan into the  action of the game itself.  Having said that, I'm not so sure that suddenly using hidden codes for a Diablo 4 reveal really makes sense.  It doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game.  At the end of the day this is still an interesting theory and this is just my opinion on it.  I'm excited to see if anything comes of it.

My first thought along Occam's Razor, would be to talk to someone who runs a gaming supply shop. Find out just HOW likely it is that the dice were accidentally misprinted. From Google images, it would appear possible but rare.

But don't make the mistake of thinking Blizzard actually made these items, or QC'd them. They place orders with companies that are expected to QC their own products, just as a company you work for might order a bunch of team t-shirts from a t-shirt printer (unless you work for a t-shirt printer).

If it's an accidental misprint, it's certainly an amazingly coincidental one. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I guess it's not really in the Diablo spirit to do it like this, but maybe they've decided to take inspiration from the OW team given how successful it has been? I'm definitely praying they have! :P

That's true to be fair, but it does seem odd also that the error is also on every set of dice. Surely someone would have noticed it during the QCing - if not, someone's losing their job :p

Rainbow Portrait is coming to consoles with the patch that brings Seasons, The rest blue posts deal with The Barber, Juggernaut affix and the duration of the Darkening of Tristam event.
      Rainbow Portrait on Consoles
The rainbow portrait isn't currently available on consoles. The implementation of portraits will come with the patch that brings Seasons to consoles (Season 10 maybe). Until then, you can earn portraits through the Darkening of Tristam event.
      Nevalistis
So, with the 1.15/1.16 patch, will this portrait drop now on the consoles?
Sorry for the delay in response, but I had to do some digging on this one. On console, Sir William does not currently drop the Whimsyshire portrait. The reason why is because full portrait integration isn't actually active yet for the Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4/XB1, though a couple of portraits can be earned through the Darkening of Tristram event (see here for more information on that). Full integration will be coming with the patch where Seasons become available on console.

If this is something you guys would like to see in the future once portrait integration is in, I'll be happy to pass along that feedback to our console development team!

The Darkening of Tristam Event Duration
Another posts informs that the Darkening of Tristam event will last until the end of January and will return every January from here on out.

When does the Darkening of Tristram event end?
Just to confirm, The Darkening of Tristram event will last until the end of this month (January), and will return every January from here on out.

      The Barber Nerfs
A player has submitted photographic evidence that The Barber has been nerfed. Here's a blue post related to it.
      Tyvalir
I'm using it with a build I'm working on and I like it even though it's not doing insane amounts of godly damage like on the ptr.
Glad you're liking the revamped Barber! As more people play with this item, there will doubtless be interesting new builds they create that are worth trying out.

It's also worth noting that with the changes to certain items in patch 2.4.3, we've seen players talk about how these compare to the most powerful Legendary and Set items available in the game.

To clarify, our goal when updating Legendary items is to open up new build opportunities for players to explore. Along with this, it's important to note that not every item is designed to push the current best Greater Rift level. Some will be better for speed farming builds, and others will simply be a means to create fun novelty builds (like Manajuma's Way, for instance).

There's more than one way to compare an item's relative worth, and more than one way to incorporate it into various builds. Even so, I'm glad to see people trying the new items out and sharing their experiences. It helps, for sure!
Is it really not guaranteed elemental damage though?
As for the weapon not rolling the additional damage modifier, that does seem buggy - I will pass this on, and thanks for reporting it!

      Juggernauts in Greater Rifts
They now have lots of health and resistance to damage, intended? The information below was taken from the latest patch notes.
      2.4.3 Patch Notes - Juggernaut
Juggernaut New enemy affix Juggernaut monsters are permanently immune to crowd control effects, but move more slowly than normal monsters Along with this change, enemies with this affix take 30% more damage from all sources Only a rare Elite enemy can be a Juggernaut (Source)
There may even be a visual indicator for affixes on elites in the works!
      Tyvalir
OK I got it - immunity to cc means a whole bunch of procs that raise damage or debuff won't work.
Just wanted to clarify for those who haven't seen the new Juggernaut affix in-game or read our recent patch notes that this is correct. As with all enemy affixes, some will be easier for certain builds to handle while the inverse is true for others.

One of our goals when adding new enemy affixes is to broaden the types of enemy variety you see in the game and the kinds of challenges you'll face. This helps achieve both of those goals while (hopefully) encouraging you to think more tactically in certain cases as a CC-dependent character.
Damn! Will have to actually look at affixes now - it would be nice to have a visual indicator on the elite.
Totally fair feedback! I'm happy to pass this on and thanks for sharing it.

On January 10, Blizzard has released the first round of hotfixes related to issues in Patch 2.4.3. Those issues have also been removed from the 2.4.3 Known Issues List.
      Nevalistis
Below you will find a list of hotfixes recently applied or coming soon that address various bugs or mechanic tweaks.

These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.
