Recommended Posts

A new round of hotfixes, bringing a few class changes, is now live. Let's check them out!

Most classes received some tweaks today. Moreover, Mists of Pandaria world bosses Galleon and Oondasta will now respawn every 15 minutes, making it easier to farm them for their respective mounts. Here are the notes:

August 1

Hotfixes

Classes

Death Knight

  • Clawing Shadows damage reduced by 25%. PvP damage unchanged.
  • Scourge Strike now deals both physical and shadow damage to multiple targets when the Unholy Death Knight is standing in their own Death and Decay.

Druid

  • Displacer Beast will apply its speed buff even if Dash is active (they do not stack).
  • Fixed a bug which allowed certain macros to bypass the cooldown on returning to the same Shapeshift form you just shifted out of.

Hunter

  • Raptor Strike will now correctly apply Viper Sting or Scorpid Sting based on the talent chosen.
  • Dragonsfire Grenade now deals damage starting on impact.
  • Binding Shot now gives the affected target immunity from Binding Shot for 10 seconds, as intended.
  • The tooltip for Aspect of the Eagle has been corrected to reflect the bonus the spell provides. In addition, the bonus provided by Aspect of the Eagle now stacks with mastery.

Mage

  • (Work in progress) Flame Patch damage has been significantly reduced. A previous hotfix to solve a bug with Flame Patch not dealing damage while the Mage was casting effectively increased its performance, and today’s change returns it to approximately the intended performance level.

Monk

  • Blackout Kick should not have a cooldown for Windwalker Monks at any level.
  • Blackout Strike’s cooldown is now correctly reduced by Haste.

Paladin

  • The tooltip for Judgment no longer incorrectly states that it hits 2 additional targets for paladins without Greater Judgment.
  • Shield of the Righteous is now available at level 24.

Warlock

  • Phantom Singularity damage has been doubled.
  • Rain of Fire should no longer close your loot window when it does damage.

Warrior

  • Whirlwind now hits the correct number of extra targets when modified by Meat Cleaver.
  • Focused Rage is now learned at level 44 (was 52).

Garrisons

  • The Garrison Strategic Assault options should again be properly randomized from day to day.

Quests

  • During “To the Rescue!”, Brutusk should no longer stop before completing his path.
  • Linen-Wrapped Book can now be interacted with by multiple players at a time during the quest “Grandma’s Lost It Alright”.

UI

  • Lockboxes can again be opened via Pick Lock in the “will not be traded” section of the trade window.

World Bosses

  • Galleon and Oondasta now respawn after 15 minutes.

Zones

  • Many missing fish have been returned, and players can again fish in the Human, Night Elf, Orc, Tauren, Blood Elf, and Draenei starting zones.
  • Corrected an issue that could cause players in mixed-server groups to periodically warp back to recent locations (aka “rubberbanding”).

NOOOOOOOOOO THE CLAWING SHADOWS NERF!!!!!!! we knew it was coming. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. i don't want to actually follow class mechanics. even then why no pvp nerf? it was probably more devastating there.

This supports my conspiracy theory that blizz will never let DK's be top dps again XD. Hero class get to be strong for their intro expansion and never again. At least this time we had fun for a week instead of the two days we had when HFC launched XD.

The judgement info was wrong after all... I swore no additional damage was ticking.  Guess I was right.

Although there were times that I swore I had two targets tagged with the debuff.  Apparently upon that assumption I was NOT right.

...wait, what? Since when does it do that? Rampage and Bloodthirst are affected by Meat Cleaver, not Whirlwind. Whirlwind *procs* Meat Cleaver.

I know this wasn't Icy-veins wording, but please correct me if I'm missing something...

The whirlwind and meat cleaver interaction has to be a typo. I do know i bug reported blood thirst and raging blow because they were not getting their extra hits in from meat cleaver.

Blizzard plans to deploy a fix in the coming days for Ineffable Truth and its interaction with Fist of Justice (and similar abilities) that are causing more than intended amounts of cooldown reduction.
      (Source)
We think we’ve found a way to fix a bug, and we’re planning to deploy the fix in the next day or two.
The bug is with the Corruption Effect Ineffable Truth and its interaction with abilities like Fist of Justice causing more than the intended amounts of cooldown reduction.
The hotfix will make it so the flat cooldown reduction provided by Fist of Justice (and similar abilities) will not be unintentionally increased by effects that increase your cooldown rate (such as Ineffable Truth).
We’ll confirm that the fix is live in our hotfixes update posts.

We have some interesting statistics to take a look at today, as redditor Quasiwave created an infographic looking at population data for both factions, the most popular races and classes, as well as a (somewhat less relevant/accurate) "most commonly paired race/class combos" diagonal. There's not that much shocking info in there, with Blood Elves being staggeringly popular for the Horde and Night Elves and Humans for the Alliance, but it's interesting to see all the stats anyway.

Now, the numbers can never be exact (or even close to it), as Blizzard doesn't share that kind of data anymore, but Quasiwave took the next best thing, as the data was taken from Warcraft Realms and features 300,000 characters (not unique players).

Here's some more info on the methods used by the author himself and you can check out the reddit thread for even more statistics debate on the methods used, whether it's a realistic representation, and just how accurate or not those diagonal boxes are.

We're back to small hotifxes, as today's have only one actually, with the N'Zoth fight getting that multiple Spike Tentacle cast on the same player bug sorted out.

Ny’alotha, the Waking City N’Zoth the Corruptor Fixed a bug that could cause Spike Tentacles to repeatedly target a player with multiple casts of Pain Spike in succession rather than randomizing targets.

Chromie is casually chilling on her hourglass near embassies in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, allowing players to pick an expansion/timeline they would like for leveling from 10 to 50 before heading to Shadowlands.
New players that have not played through Battle for Azeroth and reached level 120 yet with at least one character won't be eligible for this option and must play Battle for Azeroth by default when Shadowlands goes live.
Any subsequent characters you create will be able to pick from the following timelines for leveling:
      Kalimdor & Eastern Kingdoms
Deathwing's emergence from Deepholm altered Azeroth's landscape forever and weakened the veil between this world and the elemental planes. Deathwing won't know what hit him!

      Outland
The Dark Portal has once again opened, and the demons of the Burning Legion are advancing on Azeroth! Make sure their plans have a rather... Azerothian-sized setback!

      Northrend
The tragic fall of Arthas Menethil and his ascension to the frozen throne as the Lich King is a moment in history that has permanently left a lingering scar across all Azeroth. Stopping the Lich King would really put the Scourge's plan on ice.

      Pandaria
An ancient and mysterious land shrouded in fog for over ten thousand years appeared due to the events of the Cataclysm, and its people could really use the help of an adventurer like you. Going back to Pandaria is a great way to see that life is worth savoring!

      Draenor
The orcish clans had a very unfortunate fate in our timeline, but the meddling of Garrosh Hellscream brought forth a force that threatened the very existence of all life on Azeroth--the Iron Horde. Travel back through time and meet the orcish clans and the draenei for the first time... again!

      Broken Isles
The Burning Legion sought to conquer Azeroth and enslave its world soul and now that the Tomb of Sargeras has been reopened, they advance on our world. History will remember that you stood between the Legion and annihilation!

You can return and talk to Chromie to select a different timeline whenever you feel like it.
There is also a whirly screen visual and clock ticking sound when you select a timeline.

Chromie also has some cool replies to go with your expansion choice:
Vanilla/Cataclysm: "Who would have thought someone named Deathwing would bring about so much destruction?" Outland: "You look quite prepared!" Northrend: "Do not exercise restraint when showing your great power to the Scourge." Pandaria: "Whatever you do, do not get between a Pandaren and their brew. It'll be unbearably painful if you do!" Draenor: "If a scary orc offers you something to drink, you probably want to say no." Broken Isles: "If you find a powerful weapon, just make sure it isn't corrupted by the Burning Legion or Old Gods, okay?" Note that timeline icons are currently messed up on Alpha.
Chromie Time allows you to select an expansion/timeline for leveling in Shadowlands.
